I think it's funny that the original game says "no one living in this town will survive". That's far grimmer than the vague "you lose all your shit" in the other games.

In defense of Tom Nook’s take on deleting the save, the explanation for what that means changed from you erasing the town and everyone in it to YOU being erased from the town. They get to live on without you.
