1:58 the Soldaten tossing away their cigarettes frightenedly is a great historical reference by the devteam. Adolf Hitler hated one thing nearly as much he hated the various so-called "inferior" races: SMOKING. He actually commissioned a special medal to be given to Party members and members of the Armed Forces who quit smoking, he hated it that much. He'd also oftentimes berate people who smoked, or even smelled like tobacco smoke, near him.

Really like the Sniper Elite games but I do kind of wish that they would expand beyond the WW2 Era. Rebellion always does a great job especially with the slow motion x-ray killcam.

In the debrief at the end of the mission it does say something like "let's hope with got him this time and not one of his decoys". I liked how there's also a collectable which is a collection of photos / drawings of possible hair configurations that Hitler could use to disguise himself XD

1:07 I really like this one-like, this is from the last couple days of the war itself (in the real world, Hitler had already "done us a favor" by this point). Here, he thought he was gonna have this one last chance to get away, only for him to hear the shots and realize that everything he'd done had finally caught up to him-after throwing away millions of his own people's lives in battle (to say nothing of those he sent to the camps), _he's_ finally the one in the crosshairs. And he does not like it. As he tries to just book it for his true last-ditch attempt, he realizes too late that the sniper was ready for him to poke his head out. The bullets ping off the concrete at his feet, he can feel the wind as they whizz through the air around him, and he has absolutely no idea whether he'll make it those last 20 feet and live or if the sniper will have enough bullets and luck to score that one deciding hit... then he gets a splitting headache, and everything goes black. Basically, whenever I kill Hitler in these games, sometimes I like to make sure he knows it's happening before it does-just so I know he was afraid. Rot in hell, bitch.

Question: In Sniper Elite 3, they did a normal salute... Would that have actually been the case? Because I feel like they would have actually done a full-on Nazi salute, but the devs didn't want to animate that for legal reasons (which I understand, truth be told).

Closer than you think. Various studios have faced censorship when depicting Nazis in games. For some reason while the Nazi flag has been seemed as either necessary or at the very least recognizable enough to be included, the salute is a big 'no, no' for publishers.

@@TankMasterGo Presumably because of the German law banning the exhibition of the swastika in video games (reversed in 2018). Developers often won't include things in a game, even if it would only lose sales in one region. The new Fallout games renamed morphine into 'medex' due to Australia's ridiculous censorship of drug use in video games at the time, and it's not worth the cost to push out two versions of a game for something like this.

I remember the time (even though I was little) when the second part came out along with the DLC to kill the Fuhrer, people talked a lot (at least with us) about it. For them it was really something unusual. Unfortunately for the first Sniper Elite was the fourth part, but even then when I got to the mission with Hitler I was glad that I could put a bullet in the skull of this bastard. And after the subsequent replay, I tried to make the death of the Austrian artist even more ridiculous as I could. I'm glad that Rebellion did not change the tradition and again added the ability to kill Adolf (they also presented different possibilities for killing him), but I would like at least some variety. For example, it would be interesting if it was possible to kill Hitler, for example, with Mussolini for a couple. Or if there is a part where Karl goes to fight the Japanese, then the mission is to kill the emperor.

Read about the Sino Japanese War and the invasion of Nanjing. Also look into the way POW’s were treated by the Japanese. For whatever reason these conflicts aren’t mentioned in history class or focused on in video games and it’s really a shame because the Japanese make the not-c’s look like boyscouts. Fun fact in all the sniper elite games except for the zombie ones, you aren't actually killing Hitler, just his double they make that pretty clear in sniper elite 5 after you finish wolf mountain, even in sniper elite it's probably just a double as well.

I've never played the trilogy, but i can confirm that zombie army 4 is just over the top shit like this all the time, you are not meant to take it seriously, it's just about carrying on the age old videogame tradition of blasting away hordes after hordes of zombies, with nazis this time around, hell, there's literally a gym zone with boxing zombies at a nazi bunker It's really fun and a really good game in that sense

So, it's Aug 2020, and I just recently got SE5... Been a fan of the Sniper Elite series since 2 ages ago... Only have 20 hours in SE5 so far (only the first 3 missions a bunch as I wait for a friend to join me). That little glitch where he throws his pistol in the beginning of the cutscene for the SE5 Kill Hitler mission... really reminded me of all the little glitches in the game like that. Kinda disappointed how many they let slip through instead of delaying it for a while to really polish it... makes me worry any future releases might take a slope down. We'll see.

With the bowling trap, I expected the bowling ball to fly back and smash him in the head. That at least would have made some sense. The bowling pin piercing his skull was surprising in a stupid but also kind of hilarious way.
