With the 1.43 patch update in Gran Turismo Sport in August 2019, wet weather conditions have finally arrived in Gran Turismo Sport. Here is a look back at the evolution of rain effects in Gran Turismo history from its first debut in Gran Turismo 3 on SSR5 in 2001 up to the Red Bull Ring in Gran Turismo Sport.

Almost zero visibility in the spray. Much stronger rain effects than in GT Sport so far

@@GearShifter anyway, I remember that GT6 changed the windshield material to match real life racing cars. Because they use a different one that works differently with water compared to the normal windshields. But they added it to most cars (or all), because yeah, the effect was different from GT5.

Great comparson, but remember that GT3 and GT4 in this video are running on emulator at maximum settings, on PS2 the graphics was a lot worse

@@federicoarieldominguez104 the difference is pretty big. The screen looks more hazy on the original resolution and upscale looks clean and you can see more detail without the awful black lines everywhere.

PianoPlayer, not exactly, just change the resolution, on the other hand, actually the emulador can't execute correctly some light and mist effects as in the original system. With a component cable the PS2 looks pretty good.

@@donsilvestroso Definitely. PS2 games thru component cables mostly look amazing. Especially the first party big hitters. But it still isn't what an emulator can do and tbh I feel like that's cheating the viewer a bit with using emulation and not disclosing it.

I'd only say they were worse because of ps2's limitations, but this is what the game truly looked like without those limitations so I'd say this is 100% fair. It'd be nice if PS5 is able to play PS2 games that makes them play & look at their best like in this video (since PS3 had smoothing and 720p I'd imagine the PS5 could do extremely better)

GT5 nailed this one. But I know PD can do better with the GT Sport. Should be as close to the effects like in DriveClub and add the puddles too like in Forza.

Nope is correct, from our perspective the reflection bounces into the car but since the car is not rendered to not obstruct the vision it gives the illusion that the reflections are exchanged

I wish that PD would make a camera mode like that again. That is the main reason why I love GT3 out of all of them so much, aside from the first 2 on PS1. They play so nice, and to this day GT3 itself holds up pretty well in terms of graphics.

The way the rain droplets in gts react to gravitational forces in the turns is mind blowing some drops on the bottom right side of the window are dragging in different directions ,how is that possible!?? The developers for this game aren’t human and we don’t deserve gt 😩😩☺️
