Personally I'd love a new Stronghold that used the old res graphics of the original games. I hate to see games suffer in quality in the name of newer graphics Give us something that feels like classic stronghold just with new content, Y'know? New buildings, new missions, new units, new AI lords That's why people liked Crusader. It was fundamentally the exact same experience just with more stuff and some new music and palm trees

I honestly really like the Castle Sim elements of Stronghold 2. Mash that with the charm of the original voice actors of Stronghold 1/Crusader and the healing units of Crusader 2 and my dream castle game is basically complete honestly.

You know, the very first from 2001 stands as one of the best RTS games I've ever played. It boggles my mind to no end how did they not manage to recapture the spirit of the game in all of their following games. And the new one, set in Asia ? WHAT ARE THOSE GRAPHICS and that style ? WHAT IN THE VUCK

Stronghold Crusader will be the best game ever. I've never fed up with playing that for more than 10 years.

Crusader is definitely an all time favourite of mine. But I must say I enjoyed Legends a lot too... Very entertaining in my opinion.

After Crusader they could never really recapture the magic of this series. A shame, they're superb games, one of a kind, and still hold up amazingly to this day in terms of graphics (the 2D sprites aged like fine wine), music, sound and playability.

Stronghold crusader stands out at the best because it's visually simple Every building/unit is designed and colored distinctively regardless of lighting which allows them to be located much easier compared to other games It's realistic on how everything works but fictional on how they look which is the best combination in my opponent

Ok firefly, this is what we want in Stronghold Warlords: -Please make it a more gritty realistic looking instead of this cartoonish mobile looking game, please use less colors or at least use darker shades of the same colors -Please make it 2D instead of 3D -The space button is RESERVED for the lowered walls look like in Stronghold Crusader for nostalgia's sake, make any other button enter the Warlords screen. -Please NO unit squads/grouping like in total war, please make each unit produced as an individual unit (like in all old school RTSs) -The warlords system is iffy, reminds a bit of the estates system from Stronghold 2, not 100% on board for that one, might be better to scrap it and not take risks. You already experimented with similar systems like this in other titles and it was a feature most people did not want. Please, listen to your fans. Look, you already have the winning formula, the most legendary and successful titles are Stronghold 1 and Stronghold Crusader, we want a game with those game mechanics just in a new setting with the same graphics/look/atmosphere/gameplay but just slightly improved (for example like that new mechanic you put in of being able to chose whether single units can destroy walls or not. Btw. Good job on that one! That was a good choice.)

I started playing Crusader when I was in my 8 yr olds and now I'm 12 still enjoying the Game. Stronghold: Crusader is a masterpiece.

The first is the best.. its not all about grafhics...the music was amazing and it got you a lot in the game. a lot of details that denote love from the creators in what they did. for example: depending on the country where you're from, you played the campaign map with the map of that country. Quality is in the small details

I don't get how Stronghold Legends isn't everyone's favourite stronghold. It looked the best and was personally the most fun. There's a cap on the number of troops you can produce but I'd use gargoyles and keep converting enemy archers and expand my army indefinitely. It was so fun.

The original Stronghold is easily the best game in the series imo. Stronghold Crusader was also great. Went downhill after that unfortunately :P.

Back in late 90s my mom got me one of those magazines that came with a CD full of demo games; I remember playing a given medieval-themed RTS (can't remember the name, but until recently I thought it was Knights & Merchants) that even had cool day/night transitions and all four year seasons - which don't occur in K&M. My notes: Stronghold + Charismatic 2D graphics + Beautiful atmosphere + Nice soundtrack + Cute story + Fear factor lets u be nice or evil lord - Lack of skirmish mode - Unrealistic size of buildings (always hated that in games) Stronghold Crusader + Addition of skirmish mode + Game is more challenging in terms of food production, u can build fields, orchards etc. only on grass - Lack of proper story campaign Stronghold 2 + Buildings now have proper size and detailed interiors + Lots of interesting new mechanics (more castle managment, feasts, honor and more..) +/- Removal of fear factor - Campaign is goofy - Ugly animations - Ugly moats - Ugly wooden walls - Lot of maps are too tiny - Tf is with those spearmen voices Stronghold Legends - Feels weird Crusader Extreme + Title says everything Stronghold 3 + Actually never played that but I really like the art style Stronghold Kingdoms - Don´t play these kind of games Crusader 2 - Never played that too but AI castles in skirmish mode seems weak Warlords - Dissapointed like everyone else - Mobile game ad style graphics and shitty anims again - Expected Stronghold game (from the 3D era) finally done right in all ways + New "warlord" mechanic looks promising tho.. who knows.. maybe it will be a good game after all

Quite liked stronghold but was always frustrated how small the maps were, I played some games where my archers were shooting at the enemy archers from each other's walls and towers, I'd like to see gigantic maps where you are able to expand and maneuver, also you couldn't zoom out very far to view your mighty fortress, all things that make me not want to revisit stronghold.

None of them is really like the first version. The same beautiful graphics, beautiful land, and beautiful European environment I wish you would increase the possibilities of the first version and continue it. Especially the king's towers are very beautiful and the king himself is very beautiful in the first version.

Stronghold, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires and Empire Earth have immensely strong similarities in gameplay style. There are to some extent small differences between them, however core gameplay remains similar meaning if a person enjoy playing one of these sorts of strategy games there's a strong possibility that they'll enjoy all of them. I haven't played every game in every series, i played most of Age of Empires series and Stronghold series but i'm assuming Warcraft and Empire Earth series remained the same or not? In Warcraft 3 and Age of Empires 1 the UI or HUD is big which is annoying because it takes up almost half the damn screen, however in Age of Empires Definitive Edition and Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition you are able to adjust the size of the UI which is brilliantly magnificent. Empire Earth and Stronghold which is first in the series has a small UI which is superb they definitely did it the proper way at it's commencement seeing those games are the first games in the franchise. In Empire Earth while a citizen is busy building a structure you slowly see the structure becoming larger and larger raising upwards until completion which is cool, in Age of empires and Warcraft 3 the foundation is laid the villagers built it, in Stronghold you simply place a building on the map there is no villager which construct buildings, that's why i say there's differences between all the aforementioned games, yet they are akin to each other. The first stronghold doesn't have skirmish mode but it was added in stronghold Crusader it's splendid. I enjoy all of these excellently superlative PC strategy video games.

For me the game looks much better in 2D than in 3D. My favourite is the original Stronghold. The ambience and music is great. When the Gregorian chant kicks in you know you're in trouble.

stronghold crusader warcraft3 and frozen throne is the best game

Used to play the two very first games. As I can see, only graphics was improved in the subsequent versions. The other ideas are similar: rules, attacks, defence, even screams. It's a pity that so much efforts of engineers were spent while the work of creative authors were needed.

What most people don't know is that there was a stronghold game back in 1993. It was developed by SSI and was a strategy war game usong 2nd edition D&D rules.
