Just reminded me I don't have a BRIO Thomas in my collection. Very curious video you have here, it certainly points out when things started to get derailed. And it's always seems to be the same company that has caused all this confusion and delay. Yep you either buy out the competition, or fall on your sword and change track joiner format. The Thomas Wood decision was I feel one of the all time biggest mistakes in the toy industry. One of the biggest changes I saw between TWR and Thomas Wood was a huge drop in the price of an engine. It literally was halved. And maybe this change spooked me the most. Exactly who was Thomas competing against? Chuggington had gone! There was only other generic Wooden Railway toys yet the Thomas wood toys dumped in price. I feel Mattle are competing with something that's not in the physical world of real toys and they feel the only way to compete is dumb down and make stuff for as little as possible. It's rather scary to witness.

What about the 2000-2001 packaging, thomas had a old style version.

I used to play the Thomas wooden railway toys way back in the day, but now i don't anymore.

I grew up with the Wooden Thomas trains and my parents also got me Brio trains, but I never knew of the Thomas Brio trains or had one. Thanks for the journey back to the 90s. Also, I feel the appeal of the previous box style of packaging was for storage. You could keep each of the engine's and cars in their own box that could stack with each other. I remember doing that on more than one occasion.

21:22 oh I found a late 2004 thomas on ebay and there a few differences between the late 2001 version and the late 2004 version. Made of real wood was moved to the top of the packaging on the late 2004 version, the images of the character cards appeared on the front of the package instead on the back on the late 2004 version, the red part of the learning curve logo dissappeared, and Thomas gained red stripes on his boiler in late 2004

I grew up in England, and my first Thomas came in the Jeremy at the airport set. The style of packaging was red label, and the yellow label. Great video TWR! Also would you like to voice a character in my movie for August? It's about Thomas coming to Sodor, it will be about 50 minutes long, and I would like it if you could voice even the smallest of character! Can't wait for season 15!

Actually, there was a BIG difference in the 2010 Wooden Thomas. The colours were a bit darker and the wood was lighter. Basically saying it wasn't as heavy and had more of a thiner feel. Also the 2011 Thomas had darker red lining than the rest.

When I go to either a Toys ‘R’ Us store or the Day Out With Thomas gift shop, I find the Mattel 2013 Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel in the 2016 style packaging along with the limited edition Day Out With Thomas 2016 passenger car and I find the packaging’s history fascinating and very interesting to go for a throwback to the day the Wooden Railway system was first introduced to the world and now at Barnes & Noble at my local mall, Thomas & Friends Painted Wood is being sold there with the exposed wood version and I’ll tell ya’ I have never seen a factory error my entire life and I have also given my older favorites some edge wear and my favorite style of the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway packaging has to be the 1993 style packaging because the colors have a more vibrant feel to the product that used to be on the pegs and shelves in the 1990s and sometimes a throwback to the history of the packaging and how the Wooden Railway brand came to be before it was phased out from the store pegs and shelves for good to the rebrand as Thomas & Friends Wood, showing how common the characters in the rebrand and how rare the older styles can become in the old brand and now the original versions of the characters from the 90s era are super, if not, ULTRA rare and very hard to find, and I’ll tell ya’ this, I found the earliest version of Wooden Railway Thomas on eBay and I found it strange that a rare item would go up on sale on eBay and I’m really looking forward to comparing the item in the current packaging style to the original item dated back to the time the Wooden Railway system was first introduced to the public, if not, the WHOLE WORLD to check out as I’ll also be going though the history of the Bachmann Thomas & Friends packaging, inspired by this video as I’ll be starting with the first generation of packaging, which takes the same style of packaging, and the current version of the packaging just matches the colors of the sky on the Island Of Sodor in the Television Series, because everything was just a bit plain in the Railway Series book series compared to the Television Series adaptation as the first Bachmann Thomas & Friends packaging style takes inspiration from the old styles of packaging used for the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway brand as the Bachmann Original Thomas has just been made for release and Introducing James has still got a long way to go before release in the Bachmann variant in the making of this comment and yet, STILL no Wooden Railway/Wood Original Thomas variant, if Introducing James had a Plarail, Wooden Railway, and Trackmaster Push Along variant, but no Bachmann variant like the Bachmann variant of Original Thomas, as seen in The Adventure Begins with Introducing James as I’ll give every character in that Bachmann variant a Wooden Railway style face with the plastic molded eyes on each of the faces will have to be cut out from the face so I can fit the eyeless face onto the Bachmann model of the characters without removing the moving eyes, or I could just try and mold new faces using the Wooden Railway faces and a hardening material for the face mold with a soft, Play Doh like product to put inside the square shaped mold holder built out of LEGOs, giving the LEGO brand a new use by building the square shaped mold holder so I can mold the faces with a hardening type material to mold the faces with the material

I certainly like the 1992 packaging the best. It keeps up the feel of The Railway Series. It also keeps up the realism of the series. Not that talking trains are realistic, but more so the types of stories in the Railway Series that weren't too implausible. Not like what the TV series became in the early CGI years.

The old Thomas wooden railway toys were the best. I grew up with the end of the old style wooden Thomas.
