While I am happy that Toad's been getting bigger parts lately, I hate how they've made him a coward! We already have Luigi to be the scardycat. Toad's original sarcastic personality made him one of the greatest Nintendo characters of all time.(we largely had the DIC cartoons to thank for said original personality) I hope they give Toad his balls back soon.

I love puzzle games, and the genre is pretty accurate for a character like Toad. Now that Nintendo is doing mobile games, maybe should release a Treasure Tracker for mobile devices.

Captain Toad and Toad are separate characters and entities. Also if Blue Toad isn't with any other toads in the playable roster (excluding Toadette) AND isn't labeled as Blue Toad then it's actually the regular Toad (ex: Super Mario 3D World)

I played the toad in Mario bros. 2 and I liked him in it, I’ve never been the same since. Also that game was my favorite because I liked how weird it got.🍄 in the 80s. He was the first game Character icon I drew as a kid with my dad, super cool.

I liked Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. It was a pretty cool game. In Game Explain's Super Mario Odyssey trailer analysis, they pointed out evidence of Captain Toad having a roll in the game and possibly games after that. He didn't say anything about Toad but I noticed that those things they were talking about looked like things from Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. He mentioned a pattern on a building in the dessert level and said the shapes in the pattern looked like jewels and he showed it and I thought the jewel shapes that the guy was talking about looked like the gems from Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. He also talked about the giant bird character in the food world. I thought that bird looked like a female version of Wingo and the guy also said that the trailer showed Mario in a wind storm in the same world that the bird is seen in and said it could of been caused by the bird flapping its wings. In Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Wingo had an attack that caused a wind storm when he flapped his wings and the guy doing the analysis said that the bird could be a boss and Wingo was a boss in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. The trailer also showed Mario running around with a giant turnip in the food world and in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, you defeat Wingo by throwing giant turnips at him

Is it bad that I never knew an SNES version of Wario's Woods existed until now? I've known about the NES version for a long time but I didn't even know it was on the SNES until watching this video.

I finished main storyline of Odyssey 2 weeks ago and now I’m just trying to collect as many moons that I can(I have 810 power moons atm) and everytime I found Captain Toad he never failed to put a smile on my face. He’s so funny and such a cutie! Mario, Bowser, Yoshi and Toad are my favorite characters from the Mario universe and I’m happy that Nintendo is is letting Toad shine. I just wish that they make a Captain Toad game on the Switch. 😍

Just thought it'd be a good point to share this, but the reason why Super Mario Bros. 2 is so estranged from the other two iterations on the NES is because it's actually based off of another Japanese NES game called "Doki doki panic". The story goes that the original Super Mario Bros. 2 released in Japan was deemed too difficult to be viable in the Western market, hence they shipped off another game in production at the time (i.e. Doki doki panic) and traded off its characters with those from the Mario series. Doki doki panic featured four characters, and since the roster of protagonists from the Mario series (at that time) only had four characters as well, Toad inevitably became one of the game's playable characters. Eventually, the original Super Mario Bros. 2 was released on the SNES compilation cartridge "Super Mario All-Stars", and was titled "Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels". Again, just thought I'd throw this out there in case it hasn't already been said. :)

I think it's unfair to say that Toad returned to having a supporting role in Mario 3 because of Mario 2. As most know, our Mario 2 started was a reskin of Doki Doki Panic. Nintendo wanted to release something , so they swapped out the Fuji TV mascots for Mario characters, and back then, they didn't have many to use. The original Mario Bros 2 was released in Japan in 1986, and Toad's role was supporting, just like in the first game. So yeah, I doubt that was the reason he became a supporting character in 3. He was just continuing the role. Also, the reason Mario 3 probably outsold Mario 2, was probably because of how close the two games were released, along with The Wizard film where Super Mario Bros 3 was the main highlight, and probably because of the cartridge/chip shortage that was going on at the time.
