Awesome. Thanks for making this. We do equal parts steel and aluminum working with jet boats and all the support fab we do. Hugely helpful.

I cut aluminum everyday on my miter saw with a triple chip aluminum cutting blade. The best thing to do is set up a spray bottle with a water soluble cutting fluid spray on the blade as you're cutting the aluminum. If you don't do that what happens after a while is you get chunks of aluminum stuck between the teeth of the blade which is a hazardous situation to say the least. Also the blade will last a lot longer and the cuts will be much smoother

Thanks for doing this comparison and posting the video. I was sent a Rage2 by Evolution to compare to the DeWalt DW872 and the blade the Rage2 came with is terrible for aluminum stock. Looks like the aluminum cutting Evolution blade would fix the problem, but then the total is within striking of the EVO380 price... and with the EVO380 one is within striking of the DW872 price. Looks like the Evolution blades fit the DeWalt as well. Great that consumers have a lot of choices.

1" arbor, many blades for aluminum are made in this size.

Great video thankyou! I have tick metal plate thickness is about 100mm, and I want to cut it 3mm narrow (like slice) - do you think it is possible? How narrow can I cut with this machine?
@ypaulbrown4 жыл бұрын
Saw is rated 6mm steel vertical. No aluminum rating listed in Manual. Minimal cut off is 8mm. How wide is your 100 mm plate? 120mm is rated width for a vertical cut. Hope this helps. Cheers....sounds like your material would be better cut on a horizontal bandsaw.

Have you check the mount pin to the saw head for side to side play.Just a FYI they all have it and Neverlution is suppose to repair this.Personally Ii have inspected 5 saws new out of the box with this issue.

I just checked mine and I don't notice any movement from side to side of the blade. I will keep and eye on it. Thanks for the heads up.

0:15 It is not recommended to use a laser thermal since it is a very small object. IR imaging or probe is better.

My Biggest concern is how the cut ends up🤔 is it a 90° or close to? I want it to be close or spot on, with no or little squaring of the edge, aluminum or steel.

Also my concern, watch my Super Knit-Picky Review, I show how to get this saw perfectly plum and square. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jauXoZxj35u5hoE.html

Does anyone know can the blade for stainless steel be used to cut mild steel effectively, will it last longer?
@Dr_Xyzt3 жыл бұрын
A bigger thing to consider would be what you're cutting. If you're using round stock and it spins in the vise, you're gonna wreck the saw blade. Yeah, the stainless blade will cut mild steel. It's just not ideal. In some applications, a bandsaw is better for stainless.

“Aluminum Angle Iron”

Nice video : )
@josephcivita14503 ай бұрын
There was no such thing as aluminum angle iron. It's either aluminum angle which of course is made of aluminum. Or angle iron which is made of iron.

the finish on both blades and the cut time seems pretty comparable, id think the difference would be in blade life.. if youre cutting aluminum almost always then go with that blade but if you do a mix of materials or just aluminum time to time the steel blade is gonna do fine.. a circular saw blade for wood will actually do a fine job and they can be had for 5$

$5 for a 14" carbide tooth blade....dream on
@AndrewBrowner4 жыл бұрын
@@ypaulbrown "circular saw blade for wood" idk where youre at but here in north america circular saw defaults to 7-1/4" an d yes the cheap carbide blades can be had for 5$ a piece and even the nice diablos go on for 15$-20$ for two time to time these are canadian prices so even less down in freedom land and any of these will do fine at some low volume aluminum if you can operate the saw steadily
@ypaulbrown4 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewBrowner the video was about a 14" circular saw, not 7 1/4". Your comment was meaningless to subject matter considering the Evolution and other circular saw arbors on saws over 10" are 1". They are called circular saw blades for a reason, they are round. But I guess you could put a 7 1/4" blade on the Evolution if you bored out arbor hole, would decrease capacity probably.
@AndrewBrowner4 жыл бұрын
@@ypaulbrown im not talking about putting it on the evolution im talking about using a circular saw to cut aluminum.. as he talked in the video about the cost of a dedicated aluminum blade..

@@AndrewBrowner you are correct Sir, I must have missed the part about using a hand held 7 1/4" circular saw as a dedicated aluminum cutting machine. My apologies. PB

Be careful cutting anything with less than 1/2 inch cut off with that saw. Have the exact same one. Anything less than a 1/2 inch cut off can get caught in that giant gutter and fires back into the blade. Not sure why they made that gutter so damn big compared to other dry cut saws. Had a chuck back fired so badly, it shot into the blade and into the cover. Had to take the whole saw apart to get the chunk out. It’s really a design flaw.

I cut a 3/4" length of 3/4" square tube (1/8" wall) and it went into the guard and eventually jammed the motor as it blew out the side of the guard. I took the saw apart retrieve the piece, which destroyed 8 of the teeth on the blade. I welded the guard together, but now worried about its strength since aluminum lose strength after welding. I decided to buy a new saw instead of risking using a modified guard.
@ceciliachan6560 Жыл бұрын
Mine jammed too one time, on top of it firing small cut offs into my window. There are a lot of problems with the saw. The wide gutter is an issue and so is the guard. Better off with a slugger or Makita
@ypaulbrown4 жыл бұрын
Not a friction saw, an abrasive cutoff saw, a friction saw has teeth and runs at a very high speed...
