I crashed at 42 mph (Nikola cutout), had the same Leatt kneeguards, shift elbowguards, a moto helmet with bubble shield, and knox handroid gloves in the winter, came out with virtually no damage aside from my thumbnail slightly tearing and bleeding. I can't imagine how bad this damage would be if I wasn't geared up. If you insist on not gearing up for whatever reason, take it easy and be extra cautious.

Very similar crash for me, but on a Tesla going 20mph; control board cutoff. Had 95% battery, but it malfunctioned and dropped my % down below 10%. Even for 1 second, it cut off the wheel and down I went. Somehow pulled my toenail back a bit, but was wearing a Joe Rocket moto jacket, 'Tough Built' flooring knee pads and the G-Force D3O elbow guards. My Tesla was more damaged than I was. Gear is SUPER important. I think of it as idiot protection, whether I'm the idiot or someone else. LOL =8-Þ

Had a bad crash because a car didn't make his stop. Gear saved my face, ribcage, knees, hands and still got a bad black toe, scratched shin and broken rib...

Really important theme. I know it like motorcyclist. Had 2 big crashes on speeds near to 100 km/h (62 m/h). Only my gear saved me. There were big scratches on the helmet and my elbow pad cracked and helmet too. Bu I was ok with only some scratches on my legs (was in moto jeans with kevlar lining). Wear your gear EVERY time and it'll save your live and health once.

I agree. I look crazy to some with my gear from head to ankle, but as you demonstrated - things happen. And sometimes it has nothing to do with us.

Slow when passing always and whenever taking new roads. A lot of it can be avoided. Don't pass in front of cars unless they notice you.

EUCrs PLEASE READ: Excellent video, I don't know if someone has mentioned it already but you also need "Shoulder Chest Flank Rib Protection". I have been on many group rides for almost 3 years now and seen many broken shoulders and ribs cause of no upper protection or cheap imitation crap. I'm just throwing it out there, the one most riders prefer is the Leatt 5.5 Pro HD. Like always do your own research on your gear. I rather pay top dollar for Quality Protection than pay a hospital to Reassemble me! Yes i agree all your gear should have outer plastic to keep you sliding when you fall, you don't want the sudden stop cause that's when bones start snapping like tooth picks. My gear has saved me from fast and slow falls and simply rode away like nothing. I also wear under shorts plastic/foam shorts.

i hit a bump on my inmotio v8 and overpowered it, i wasn't geared up and i ripped a good amount of my clothing and skin, even though i was only going 30klm per hour. gear up. it's important.

Let me emphasize that you realize how valuable protective gear is after falling. I fell on my hips once, i cannot stress how important hip protection is. But then again, until it happens to you, you won't give it though. Awesome vid

Fallen several times. After first time (small one) I got it. Gear! so I geared up. Had few severe falls, mostly my own fault, unintended or not, but the gear makes you fearless. (not stupid). I dont know how much clothes I have trashed due I cover the gear with my clothes, but I tell you all, its worth every penny. Regardless the tedious effort to put on , get off. Its just what makes joyful and relentless riding. :)

Just crashed a week ago, geared up with full-face helmet, wrist guards, and knee pads. User error and overpowered the wheel but my gear did its job and was able to walk away. Stay safe and gear up!

I’ve fallen two or three times now, nothing major. Why didn’t I get worse damage? Protective gear! I wear a fullface motorcycle helmet, motorcycle jacket, wrist guards, inner D3O shorts and knee/shin protections. If even just walking you can seriously hurt yourself, imagine what can happen riding an EUC. Protective gear is life and body insurance. Gear up and have a blast!!! Thanks for the video 👍🏻

I was wearing my Camelback with a hard water bottle in it. I fell and twisted and landed on my back. It was like falling on a rock with the hard plastic bottle in my pack. I am buying a full upper body protection suit. I broke ribs in my back. Lesson learned.

I've fallen off once. I always wear helmet, wrist guards... and a back protector, which is actually a velcro fastening weight lifters belt. I fell off backwards, cut a finger but the wrist guard took a hard scrape and the belt performed very well.

Starting out, I had my first fall right on my front pants pocket. Right on the lump caused by my phone and keys. Felt like I pushed my entire hip socket inwards...I couldn't walk for a week. Try having ur personals in a backpack, if possible

I'd like to know who hasn't crashed. My "worst" one I think resulted from the wheel cutting out when I was practicing going over potholes at speed. But the gear saved me. As a life long road and mountain bike cyclist, I know what takes it in a crash and got and wore the gear from day one. Some of my most painful crashes were the slow ones when I was learning. I won't even go around the block without the gear.

Had a bad fall while learning on my Z10 and destroyed my knee cap, that same night saw you using the Leatt knee/shine guards so I ordered full protection including Ruroc helmet and Knox biker gloves, wasn't cheap but then again neither is my life as it's saved me twice since. Good video great tips👍🏾 ......always gear up.

I got the wobbles on a KS18Xl with no pads at around 25 ish mph, I was thrown off the wheel, on asphalt at speed and I rolled with it, got my wheel and went straight home. Got on amazon and and ordered some safety gear. And felt the bruises for awhile. safety gear up people!

Crashed my V8 at 20 km/h a couple of weeks ago. Caused by the tire going flat. Wristpads saved my hands, but was not wearing my kneepads and elbow pads because it was a short trip and would be going slow. I guess I learned those are Stupid reasons not to wear your gear.

Great video with a great message, Mikey👏 I timed myself and it literally takes me less than a minute to put all my gear on (full face, flatland gloves, Fox Titan elbow/forearm pads, and Fox Titan knee/shin pads). I too sometimes wear hip pads but not on the daily. What I found helps is getting good, comfortable gear that’s easy to put on and off so that you actually use it. If it’s a PITA, then you’re likely to skip it. Invest in good gear and take the extra minute or two to gear up; you’ll be happy with not having to go to the hospital, and also wasting months on physical therapy. I’ve also learned that there are two types of riders; those who gear up in case they fall, and those who gear up after they fall. It’s eventually going to happen, and for me the most important thing is to be able to ride tomorrow. That’s what I teach and try to encourage people to do as well 😁 Stay safe, bud!

6,000 miles on my 16x and it finally happened to me. Wasn't paying attention on an unfamiliar sidewalk, 20mph, a bump sends me up and I lose my footing and fall backwards right onto my left elbow fracturing it. Very painful. Yes, I too knew it would happen one day.

I had two big crashes. In the last one my full face helmet literally saved my face. Without it I would hit my chin, mouth or nose, real ugly. I'm trying to ride slower since then. The two crashes happened when I was worried with assailants. The last one it was really late at night. I was too self confident and entered this area I wasn't totally familiar with. I wish I had money to hire an insurance. But learnt the lesson. "Keep your eyes on the road Your feet upon the wheel"

When I first got my KS16S I rode it outside with no skill whatsoever and the wheel took off and went down a kerb, sending me flying. I had kit on but I still hurt my shoulders, they were sore for weeks after. I learned instant respect and I always gear up fully before I ride. Wrists, elbows, knees and full face.

Cutoff at 25 mph going against a light headwind. Underestimated the power usage and it shut off. Was wearing the minimum gear (full face and wrist guards). Went into a roll and had massive road rash on the elbows, forearms and the back of the right shoulder. T-Shirt was torn up pretty good too. Rode back home and mended my wounds. Helmet sure saved my noggin and I only wished I had worn my elbow guards that time, as the wrists and elbows always take the brunt of it.

I wear impact shorts on top of my clothes for skating. I fell with wrist, elbow and knees pads and all I could think of was wow, these knee pads are cushy. Not a scratch or injury. The safety gear is amazing and worth every penny. Thanks for demo on your gear. The other thing I practiced was learning how to fall.

I'm with you on the helmet and wrist guards, absolutely mandatory minimum. To that I add elbow pads and knee/shin guards. One more thing, work boots. I've twisted my ankle very badly at low speed. Now I always wear boots.

I needed this video. I only ride with a skate helmet on my KS14-S which tops out at 30 km/h. But tomorrow I receive an MSX Pro with the intention to cruise it at 45 km/h. A crash at that speed won't be very forgiving.

Crashed on a pedal bike. No protection. Flew over handle bars. Rolled head over heels - rocked a bit. Almost head butted the granite curb. No injuries. Rollerblading. Little dog. I dived to avoid hitting it. Landed on wrists and slid on plastic wrist guards for ten or twenty feet. I hate imagining if I didn't have them on

I’m impressed by NYC EUC riders. Y’all ride fast when passing pedestrians. I slow down to jogging speed when there are people around. More people more variables.

Wiped out at 20 mph. Hit a speed bump when a Rottweiler chased me. It sent me flying about 6 feet up. Landed on my chest. Had cheap elastic elbow and knee pads which immediately slid off on impact. Don’t go cheap. Road rash hurts. You can go into shock. Now ride with POC brand motocross elbow guards and knee and leg pads which will not slide off on impact. Best decision I ever made. Bell full face helmet, quality heavy duty wrist guards, red/black Milwaukee brand hard rubber backed/padded gloves from Home Depot. Get armored up! My arms didn’t heal for a month. Need a chest protector which I’ve not got yet cause had a few broken ribs too.

As was mentioned in the video I tried to take a 1/2 curb before I had my gear. Due to a pre-existing crack in my shell it started me into a wobble after landing and tried to catch myself but only ended up causing more damage. I would guess I started at and spilled at 10 but really messed up my wrist. I now always were my wrist guards (still wearing my wrist brace from the damage every day). But am looking to get an Armor Jacket to easily put on and take off for my commutes into the office. As they say in MotorCycling the question is not IF but WHEN YOU WILL fall!

Great idea with the gloves. I did the same thing, except I sawed my plastic sliders to the gloves. They work really well. They’ve been fall proven. Ride safe🙏

Having suffered brocken cheek bone, nearly lost an eye coming off a push bike helmet is a must and make it a good one. Other damage to my hip coming off a motorcycle with no leg protection ( helmet saved my head that time ). And another fall on the base of coxix .. All these were decades ago but still hurt and affect me now. Atgatt especially when riding something like a euc where a fall is 100% guaranteed at some point.

Glad I watched this vid before I got my first EUC. I bought those Hillbilly wrist guards before my first EUC ride.After I learned to ride. I was coming up my driveway and clipped the wooden landscape edging with my EUC peddle and face planted hard. My wrists and face were fine because of the wrist guards and full face helmet. I laughed it off.

I was going about 10 mph and took a dive. I had some gear on, no helmet, chest plate , or gloves though. My knees, elbows, and wrists were protected and fine. I broke two ribs and had road rash on my face and hands.

I've been a mountain biker for a long time and have had my brain and face saved multiple times by a good full face helmet. Also, nobody should underestimate how "slow" speeds such as 10mph can still jack you up. Sometimes it's not how fast you're going, it's what you crash into. I slipped on oil while running through a parking lot and slid into a concrete parking block, completely tore my knee open to the bone. On PEVs, 15-20mph can feel slow, but consider that this is top sprinting speed for a lot of people on foot. EUCs are still in their infancy, every rider is an early adopter, every model is almost a prototype. Gear up.

You should get insurance on these stuff, Allstate provide "renter's insurance" unlike other renters insurance, any damaged or lost items can be claimed. (under any situation)

We tend to blame the travellers. The bridge in the opening with the crash is too narrow. It might work for everyone in the same direction. When I don’t have much space I try to slow down. (I’m a cyclist interested in road safety. One day I’ll try all these different vehicles, they are so cool!)

I will say if a motor cycle level helmet is too expensive, then maybe try hockey gears. Hockey gears are made to protect players under high speed impact, which can also involve human force. I personally feel hockey gears are a lot safer as....you know......how those people play in NHL...got to be in a certain high level protection

Thanks for the tips. Wasn't even thinking about getting any protection. Now Im looking into helmet and wrist cards. I just preordered the V11 20 minutes ago and Im super excited. Been contemplating on buying an electric vehicle for am while. After much consideration, I decided on a EUC. Looking forward to going through some of your content

Had my first real spill today. Decided to take a different path home cause I knew my usual path would be completely iced over by the time I get home and it was a familiar path so I wasn't too worried about any obstacles which was an oversight on my part. Though its usually clear it had snowed earlier this week and so when they ploughed the entrance/exit of this gated community all the snow piled up into this thin sliver in the middle about a foot tall. Then the outer layer melted during the day and froze over again at night effectively turning it into a solid ramp. I noticed it too late to slow down all the way so I had to commit to riding through it. Unfortunately it was more solid than I'd anticipated and I was still going fairly fast so it launched me a solid foot or two in the air which I was not prepared, equipped or even experienced for since I'm a fairly new rider and didn't see the need to put power pads on a wheel the doesn't even hit 25mph. I was probably going 10mph max but I came down fairly hard though I managed to roll out of most of it so I was fairly unhurt. Just some lightly scraped knees and a sore elbow. Scratched up my wristgaurds and helmet pretty good though it just seems like cosmetic damage.

It's that natural law that gets us speed lovers in the end - it's better to be safe than sorry even if that means going that bit slower. Motorcyclists that ride very carefully are more likely to avoid serious crashes in their lifetime. It's those riders that love speed who have a higher chance of a life-changing crash. With unicycles that natural law is even more deadly. So always err on the side of caution and go slow when you are near any kind of danger (like other pedestrians or cyclists). Don't be complacent and assume you have the right of way (even if you do). It's the others that make mistakes too.

My bare minimum tended to be a helmet (you do NOT want to risk a head injury) and wrist guards, since wrists are delicate and will usually take the initial impact because of our reflex to put our hands in front of us to protect our face (not to mention the nasty road rash / skin-removal you can get on your palms...). But after a few spills, I feel naked without knee guards and don't tend to push it past 18-20 mph if I'm not wearing them. If you can't outrun a bail, I find it much easier to "give in" and drop to your knees, lean back and slide on your knee guards than try to put that second or third foot in front of your and end up flying towards the ground face-first. If you do try tu outrun the bail and get propelled forward, I've found that my elbows are the second upper-body point of contact with the ground after my wrists, as attested by the scrapes on my elbows-guards. After that, I tend to role toward my side/back, and have torn a shirt and nice jacket in the scapula area, so fully geared means shoulder protection (MC jacket in winter, a kevlar-reinforced hoodie with shoulder protections when warmer), although MC jackets offer the best abrasion protection. And don't forget your eyes! A bee, sly or even a mosquito won't only potentially hurt, but can cause a nasty crash at 40 mph! Wear goggles, or glasses at the very least!

Great video guys It’s true falling isn’t really that bad (as long as you’re geared up) but the damage to the wheel is another story. I crashed at 35mph on my nik plus, some asshole left a dozen boxes on the road and I got clipped and ate it. I was geared up; full face helmet, motorcycle jeans and jacket, and of course wrist guards. I even wear dainese shoes lol Diagnosis: right inner shell cracked, rear panel smashed and both outer shells busted. Took me 7 days to repair but Jason from ewheels sent all the parts promptly and now at least I can disassemble my wheel a 100% so I guess it was a blessing in disguise.

For me I think its more safer using an electric ride with a steering Handle like the kick Escooter, coz if something goes wrong the steering will hit 1st impact before rider, unlike the mono wheel rider's body is at stake 1st impact

There was a time I was riding my bycicle with a friend, completely 0 protection gear, and at first we were like: "Oh, It's nothing special, we will casually go to some park, chill, etc". Later in park there was a long downhill, not so steep, but completely free from any vehicles or pedestrians, and in a few second we both were like "WOOHOOO", going all in. Few seconds later I'm flying off the bike, few more - I lost consciousness, cause all i remember is my friend's terrified face and trying to wake me up, asking if I'm okay. Ended up almost a week getting up from bed with help of my family/girlfriend, because pain was enormous, and some hospital and med bills. I was about 23-24 YO back then (31 now), and thought "Well, It was scarry, but fun". Realising that situation now, I'm pretty sure I didn't die simply of pure luck, because even though speed was something like ~37mph, maybe more, even though it's not "that" much, still enough to cause major injuriy/death. Conclussion: Now i have skater helmet, FF helmet, elbow and knee pads, maybe will grab something for chest...aaaaand still a little bit afraid of downhills (aaaaand waiting for my first EUC, V8F ✌️ )

I'm a new rider. And I'm female. Sometimes we're reluctant to have such heavy gear on. We dont look cute when riding. it's not a glamorous. But Your video really opened my eyes to make more investments. I only have gloves and a helmet at the moment. I haven't crashed yet. But I know it inevitable.

The lesson I’ve learned: Don’t buy cheap gear, because you are going to be injured if you fall. And other thing, motogp pilots can ride about 300km/h because they gear up. Great channel, I always watch.

No I was not geared up and crashed at 15 mph learning how to ride. I was riding the unicycle within five minutes of unboxing it for the first time. I ride a regular unicycle and felt this was 100 times easier to control. I was actually feeling quite cocky and was doing 25 at one point then I decided to go over a dirt path at high-speed and lost it. Fortunately for me, the 16 X is built like a tank and hardly any damage at all except for two minor scratches. I bought every piece of gear you can think of the next day and will never ride again without it.

Fair but he did decide to try and overtake the cyclist in front of him on an icy night. Obviously that was stupid. I was there obviously lol- and had he broke my wheel he would not have paid. He told me so himself.

Thanks for reminding us about safety, I've had to minor crashes with 115 Km, mostly for making rushed decisions while riding. I had ignored your video but after bruising my sheens and the same knee twice in a week, I knew I needed additional protection and came across it again on the EUC forum. I was just wearing wristguards and a bike helmet but now looking into kneepads and possibly elbow pads too. Full-face helmet still seems a bit overkill for a V10, but already on my wishlist. As an ex-skateboarder, my confidence is relatively high, but as such, I am also pushing harder every time I ride, and the pavement is just too hard... ; )

Ah man sorry to hear that. If i had to push you ok anything it would be a full face and the knee/shin guards I use. Add those to your collection. Def look into Leatt dbx 3 or dbx 4 for helmet. And of course their skin/knee protection. Stay safe out there.

My worst falls skating (new to EUCs) were from poor decisions. Even in your video that bicyclist, made a poor decision and it not only wrecked him but you as well. Most of the worst EUC wrecks I seen online were because of poor decisions. Sometimes we slip, sometimes we lose balance and we get hurt, that is inevitable. But sometimes we also think, I'll race, I'll show off, I'll push, I'll try this or that. Just remember if those decisions go bad, these cause our worst accidents. So be prepared and do it in the proper environments. Being responsible means not racing or showing off etc... at the wrong time or place potentially harming other people if you mess up. What's my best trick? Not die 😁

I've picked myself off the pavement more times than I can count. I think every euc KZfaq star I follow has some footage of their own wipe outs. Hsiang has said that you shouldn't buy a motorcycle helmet because it's only good for one crash, and we do it many times. You should choose gear that is still useful after crashing a few times.

thank you evX but ive got hwk moto jacket for colder/rainy Canadian days and alpinestar armor and always have the Leatt 3.0 knee shin guard my bauer wristguard with working gloves are still amazing and i am waiting for a scorpion Vx-35 Krush to finally get the top protection for the money! would be nice you interview other riders for theyre protection gears and why they use them or why some don't use protections.keep them comming i like what you are doing👌🏻

I think another important thing in the city ride is the rearview mirror. I noticed one on your friend's helmet. Is it good or not? What are the pros and cons of it? How it feels in comparison with hand rearview mirror. like "WrongWay!" channel author has?

There are a few diff mirror options. Some people like them and some people don’t. I mainly focused on what i find useful and not add too much extra.

Micky my 1st fall was on my brand new Msuper V2, I did well learning the basics, practiced everyday wearing my gear & everything, then about a week later it happened, I got too confident in my riding and went out without my gear, it was just around my neighborhood, what could possibly go wrong? I wasn't more than 10 houses away from my own, when I hit a little dip in the road, & lost control & fell on my right knee, followed by my right elbow, then as I turned my left shoulder impacted the asphalt to end the ride. I suffered road rash on both my knee and elbow, luckily it was March and my jacket saved my shoulder from abrasions, but it took a whole yr until I regained 100% movement & now 3 yrs later whenever I reach for something high, my left shoulder makes a clicking sensation that I can almost hear within my body. Did I quit riding? Hell no! Im a surviver, I just did the best next thing and that's Gearing up! Mickey If you want a picture of the gore, just tell me where to send it. 😜👍

Some one is definitely gunna get hurt going too fuckin fast on these faster wheels ..you don't really have to go over 30 or 35 kilometers on these wheels to enjoy your self. A Lamborghini goes 300 hundred miles an hour but you'd have to be nuts to go that fast....get my drift....I been riding these rockets since the ve and am still good and I am a little nuts but not 2 nuts

I know the terror of falling on an electric vehicle. I ate shit on one of those Lime electric scooters going like 15 mph which doesn't sound like much but it fucked me up good. Hit a pothole and ended up falling terribly. Scratched up my knees, bruised ribs, lacerated forearms, sprained wrist road rash on my face with a busted lip and both my front teeth got knocked loose. Never thought of what to do if I fall and regretted it. Can't outrun a scooter so best bet is to just roll with it. First thing im gonna do when I get my euc is practice falling off of it

You don't really need to practice falling off, as once you're going fast instinct is what will kick in to protect yourself from the fall. Just gear up. Get a good full face helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, and I like to wear a motorcycle jacket as well for the slide protection. I just fell off my EUC for the first time today after 2500 miles, was only wearing my helmet, wrist guards, and the jacket which I removed the built in elbow pads (slid around too much, wouldn't have protected me). Thankfully my fall was low speed, I think less than 20mph. Hit some ice while going around a bend, started to correct myself, and by the time I was nearly good I hit a 2nd patch of ice and slid off. Thankfully didn't break anything, but my knees and elbows are wishing I had worn more gear.
