Hi Bald, I'm french and have used those MRE during my military service time (a long time ago in 1993, but it was already the sametype of MRE's....) and really appreciate your reaction on this.... Our Army take meals very seriously because "hey, we are French!!" and food times are REALLY essentials to us!! haha! anyway, great vid and a new subscriber to you!! ;)

Superb review that brought back some memories of my time. The ration packs we had were amazing, boil in bag steak in gravy was the best. Everyone would pack there rations in there kit whilst breakfast was cooking, and discard what they didn't want. I used to swoop in and get the yeast extract and the tabasco sauce, I still have some bit's with my kit. Looking forward to seeing the British army review 😎👍

Rat Packs..... took me back to when my brother would bring left over bits home. Cheese and jams were fab and in tubes , the chocolate cake (a rare treat) was heaven. Chicken supreme tasty. Biscuits were solid. Dad would love to get the leftovers even the biscuits! (Dad was WW2 from the 'phoney' war to 46 , brother a reservist from 18yr old till they retired him!). Bless you for serving your country Gareth, it is not an easy days work. The bonds you form with fellow servicemen don't break. My Dad kept his friendships going with 6 colleagues and one of his Captains until old age took them. My brother has 2 good mates he sees regularly. You need good people in your life. Let's hope others send you rat packs..... I have a nephew who works from China and Malaysia... He gets seconded to their navy etc and his food choices are very limited he survives on rice. And confectionery, etc. He loves good old fashioned British food, doesn't even do bolognese, curry, or spicy stuff. His tales of service food are interesting.

I can't remember the guys channel name. But there is an American guy who's an historian and knows all about ration packs and the history behind the wars and stuff. It might sound boring but his channel is fascinating, he buys WW1 and WW2 and Vietnam etc ration packs and actually cooks and eats them. He gets military ration packs from all over the world and eats them. Obviously some of the ration packs from a 100 years ago are ruined and spoiled and he can only sample little bits but they're all sealed and what people during the wars would eat. It amazes me that in ration packs from the world wars you got a pack of cigarettes in them and matches and he will smoke them

The closest I got to rations was when I went on a break with school on a camping and rambling thing, must’ve been a few days away. It was fun but not worth the blisters 😂 Great video Gareth again.
