I don't know how these companies are allowed to get away with the product pictures on the box - they shows twice as much filling as there actually is and show a chunkier, better quality filling too.

I reckon 'Specially Selected' means specially selected to make Aldi more profit. It is defo not selected specially for your benefit. Another great vid.

It says on the box "Ready to eat - Hot or cold". Anywhere between chilled and piping hot would be ok. Just saying :)

As soon as i saw these Pies Gaz... The first thing that came to mind was... "Oh no!"... They looked identical to those Pieoneer Pies... And yet again there wasn't really any Gravy in them... Yet you've got to remember that it states on the packaging... Can be eaten Hot or Cold... Can you imagine trying one of these cold while on your lunch break... Your mouth would be as dry as a desert... They wouldn't really be my Pies of choice my friend... I'd much rather have one or two of those cheap individual Minced Beef and Onion Pies... Those that cost about £0.70 each... They taste good and have decent thick Gravy inside too... The thumbnail was great though... I actually thought the face you were pulling was because it didn't taste too good... However, it was just the tangy Vinegar judders you had from the Brussel Sprout Sauce... 😆 All the best Gaz... I found the same frustration cooking a quiche in the air fryer, I think its the foil tray thats the problem!

The Aldi frozen pies are spot on, but the chilled ones leave a lot to be desired

I've tried the Coq au vin one, but threw half away. I didn't like it at all. As dry as dust. I didn't think of putting gravy on, because for me a pie should be tasty in its own right. I seem to recall that I submitted a comment about this very pie a few weeks before Christmas and I strongly advised against it.

Hi Gareth I've noticed how many products contain palm oil and wonder if people know how palm oil is responsible for the destruction of rain forest and mainly the habitat of Orangutans. These gentle apes are now critically endangered mainly due to their habitat being destroyed for Palm Oil. Maybe you could mention this when you list the ingredients Cheers and keep up the good work

Consider where you live. Land and habitat was destroyed for you to have the privilege of living there. Got gas or oil central heating? Hmm... That car you run, or transport you use. Whether fuel or electric, cradle-crave manufacturing and running of said vehicle is nothing but bad news for the environment the world over, never mind for just one species. The paper you use to wipe yourself? Recycled you say...right, but where and how did it get recycled? Factories, they need land, energy materials and people. Everywhere you look, damage is being done somewhere, somehow, just be you living your life. By all means do what you can and want to save the environment, but don't drag politics and things into the comments when the very fact you are able to do so means you are using technology.

Gareth you seem determined to mock the vegan foods as if you are some independent judge. There is nothing independent about you. Your partiality for meat means your palette is only satisfied by it . Nothing else is going to be good enough. Veg are not meat and there’s an end to it. But and here is the but ..meat has no fibre, is carcinogenic as you brown it in the oven ie the Maillard effect. Humans do not need this amount of protein that is why breast milk does not contain very much in spite of babies needing to grow. Cows milk is full of it as baby calves grow fast and need a lot of protein. You love pies and these are full of fat. Fat May equal flavour but it is also equal to diabetes, Alzheimer’s , heart diseases, erectile dysfunction to name but a few. You may be funny but the joke is on you. Live long and prosper . I hope you have good genes and are one of the few who get away with it. Time will tell but get yourself checked out.

Pies look rubbish but love the look of the Brussel Sprouts Ketchup, have always wanted to try it since it came on the market a few months ago! Also would love to try TOMATO KETCHUP CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES from Fortnum & Masons online store or in their shops!

Hi Gareth thanks for the review, They looked nice but like you say some Gravy needed and some vegetables. Also need to put Air fryer cooking times on pack . It’s very important to cook it the correct time , Even a minute less or a minute more can make a big difference to the quality. As for the Brussels sprouts sauce still trying to think what you could have with it . Maybe sprouts lol . Cheers Buddy. 👍

Is it me or is the pies more mashed potatoes than filling 🤔 I'm guessing they would be ok with some brown sauce or gravy but you can keep the Brussel sprout sauce 🤢if I had a bit of that it would definitely be a stormy windy night in my quilt lol cracking video as usual keep up the good work and stay safe out there from joff the trucker

Happy New Year to you and your family, Gareth! I'm 10 years older than you (I'll be 60 in June!), and I find the pounds tend to pile on as one gets older. I've stopped eating Crisps and Pizza, and I'm eating more fresh vegetables (I love Sprouts!) and lean meat. I weigh 13 Stones, and I want to be thin MORE than I want to eat Junk Food! I had an Aldi Ashfield Beef Medallion Steak for my tea, with Mashed Potato, Carrots, Sprouts and Broccoli. The Steak had been in my freezer since June last year!

What does an insomniac do at 3am ? He watches Gareth nosh on some pies and sauce. Yup, def agree about the gravy. Might be worth in the future giving them one more go in the oven maybe ? Crispy top and soggy bottoms, I’d prefer a more even spread of textures. Lol, that Brussels sprout ketchup needs some work by the looks of it, less vinegar more sprout, perhaps some nutmeg in the mix too. Thanks for a great video. Thought you had a sore throat there at the beginning but your voice mellowed to it’s foodie dulcet tones in the end. Great content Gareth. Cheers chum.

Well I never 😄😁 I feel, if you wouldn't buy a product again it needs to be be below the halfway score, 5 or less. Pies definitely need gravy. But you're the star here. You have the power to catapult a product into the stratosphere where we all rush out and buy it, or commit a food to an early grave with devastating affect. The face in the thumbnail was decieving I thought u was gonna find it vile 😂😂😂 pies looked delicious . I don't like the Tesco finest gravy , reminds me of a curry taste sauce lol. I like the bisto best 😍 that on the pie would have been perfection . Hope u are having a great day anyways ❤️

This is nothing to do with pies but I tried vegan beef wellington tonight and it was so nice it even had an apple sauce taste. It's big enough to make 3 meals for me with veggies on the side. It was from Iceland.

G'day Gareth. Oooh these pies look and sound delicious as per packaging, but we know... The proof is in the Pudding. Very nice flavours they've used, but not enough moisture to make them an experience you'd want to repeat. Mostly potato topping as per usual. The Brussel sprout sauce I think would go well over fish and chips. Another great review to the list. Cheers mate and all the best 👍🤤😀🇦🇺 Love a proper Coq Au Vin

Pork one just looks like mush - very poor unless they are claiming that it's pulled pork. Other one looks far better. You shouldn't have to be testing the temperature on a pre-cooked pie though - stick it in for a couple of mins less than advertised and at least 10 degrees lower temp and let them cook without opening the air fryer up.

I always lower the temp by 10C for my air fryer reduce time by 1/3 it helps stop food drying out

Hi Gareth, based on the photo and thickness of the box I would have bought any of the two pies! What a disappointment when you see inside them, it's almost like a scam. There's a bit on the box that says they contain alcohol! Although it will be minimal, my ex was allergic to alcohol, and that aside, I'm on pain killers for back and arm, so no alcohol for me!!! I wouldn't buy them now, another great review. Getting mobile again and trying to catch up pal.

Instead of beans, sprouts, sprouts are good for the heart, the more you eat, the more you ... well, you know how it goes. I quite like sprouts sautéed with chopped bacon. But I wouldn't fancy that sauce.

£1.75??? I wouldn't give 'em 10 bob! I would prefer those fillings sans pastry and just have nice mash on top à la Cottage/Shepherd's. And lashings of gravy with a splash of wine or cider in to complement the filling. As for that green sauce... No thanks. I will try and find the recipe for spicy sprouts I have used...

The correct pronunciation of coq au vin in French is cohk oh vah(n). In the word "coq" the o is pronounced with a closed "oh" sound, while the "q" is pronounced with a "k" sound. Just saying 🤣

There were new frozen pies in Aldi. A pack of 4 steak pies and a pack of 4 chicken and veg pies.... they are £1.32 per box. Steak was really nice but the chicken is full of perfectly cubed reformed foamy chicken... not nice at all.

The reason they didn't cook quicker is because you didn't follow the instructions - remove ALL packaging! You left them in their foil trays! Also caused your soggy bottoms!
