Ex-Gay Man Could Face Jail Time, Massive Fines After Sharing Journey to Jesus

Күн бұрынAn ex-LGBT activist who is reportedly facing potential prison time in Malta after sharing his testimony of leaving behind a gay lifestyle to follow Christ is battling for his freedom in court. Matthew Grech joins CBN's Faithwire to provide an update on his case, the legal ramifications, and why he's fighting back.
Legal problems began when Grech shared his story of leaving the LGBTQ lifestyle and finding Jesus with a local outlet. He said there were two presenters with PMnews Malta who wanted to know more about the nation's crackdown on so-called conversion therapy and his take on the matter. Malta in 2016 became the first European Union country to ban attempts to "change, repress or eliminate a person's sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression," leading to fines or even jail time.
"Last year, I was invited to share my story on a program and answer questions about so-called conversion practices," Grech said. "And I mentioned an organization ... that supports men and women who leave LGBT and an organization that promotes a biblical sexuality." Just days later, he said three people reported him to the police and accused him of breaching the law. Suddenly, he was in legal trouble. "I had to go to the police and I exercise my right to be silent," he said. "And the police pressed charges against me."
Grech, who is back in court this week and is reportedly the first person in his country to be prosecuted in such a way, continued, "If I'm found guilty, I could spend five months in jail or I could ... pay a fine of up to 5,000 euros ... just for really exercising my freedom to be a Christian and to support others who want to move away from unwanted LGBT identities or desires."
In the end, he said he's grateful for the support of Christians across the globe who have offered support and prayer. Grech said he's confident he will be victorious in court, but even if he's not, he has no plans to give up hope or to cede to the state. Listen to him tell his story.

I am an ex-gay as well and I notice when I speak out about deliverance that these platforms either shadow ban or remove their content. I salute this man for speaking out because he's doing what the Word tells us. When we have been redeemed we must say so and praying that God shows the naysayers that when God is for you no one can be against you! It's a sad day in the world when the trans can speak a fallacy and rewarded yet people who speak truth are punished. The only conversion therapy I know that works is trusting and believing in the power of God to change us no matter what the sin is!

Homosexuality is being attracted to people of your own biological sex and is immutable, it is not an 'identity' that can change. Ex-gays make the decision to deny they are homosexual. But they will always be homosexual.

If a man is attracted to both men and women, not necessarily equally, but only ever sleeps with women, is he homosexual? Is it like a blank canvas argument similar to the One Drop Rule in regards to race? One thought of homosexual preference automatically means that is your true identity? Similarly, from a secular perspective, if a husband finds himself attracted to another woman or man but never acts on it, is he now an adulterer?

My husband was arrested for preaching the gospel in a public place, here in Tennessee. But God used it for His glory when my husband gave the entire gospel message in a courtroom filled with people waiting to have their cases heard! Hang in there, brother. God is using you mightily!

How do you get arrested for speech in the US? Must've been due to disturbing the peace or disrupting people during an unauthorized manifestation perhaps? Some guy showed to counter protest close to an authorized event a few months ago and the police arrested him. It was clearly unfair and unjustified arrest but it wasn't completely out of nowhere since he was warned and offered to leave.

This is so inspiring!!! I pray now for this young man who had enough faith to allow God to deliver him from homosexuality. Coming OUT of that lifestyle is very rare, but not impossible. I really hope and pray God prospers him and takes care of him and his family.....and protects him.

Jesus came to free us from the punishment of sin ("the wages of sin is death"), and free us from the power of sin, enabling us to live holy lives and live forever with him ("but the gift of God is eternal life"). This good news is for everyone, no matter what sin they struggle with!

Just randomly found this video and listened like 3 times. Matthew, you're destined for greatness this is why you were delivered from the shackles of sexual immorality. July 24th passed and I am eager to hear how the court hearing went. You have a position on my prayer item list. That said, who else finds it ridiculous that one category from the list that 1corinthians 6:9 mentions, feels more marginalized. Isn't obviously that this is supposed to help us work out our salvation? We all have time to turn away from all wickedness so that we can inherit the Kingdom of God. May God be Matthew's everlasting defense in Jesus' Name. Amen.

I am so happy I found this video and are reading these comments! I returned to God after many years of confusion, and I couldn't be more happy to be back to my normal self. I feel content and loved. I am an ex-gay, who discovered homosexuality and porn way too early in my life. It set me on a track of confusion and merge between sex and love. I haven't heard much from anyone who was formerly gay, so I thought I was the only one going through such a difficult time trying to understand why this happened. But I feel comfort and support when I hear that gayness is not something you are born with. We can change and let God into our lives. I've never been so happy! ❤
