Seems like many of the naysayers here believe that sexual assault only comes in one form and that the assault must be vicious/violent to actually even be considered assault. If that is what you think you are part of the problem. Do some research. That's usually not the case.

I am blaming the parents of many of these teens. She was 17 and ends up in a hotel room with two grown up men over 30. Hellllooooo!!! How can this happen? Where were her parents, or anyone to protect her. Who is ok for their 17 year old daughter having dinner, or even hanging out with guys that age?? If your teenage daughter is too immature, dumb or too career driven to make smart decisions, you as a parent, or someone you can trust to protect her, has to be there.

It was not a hotel room but Brett Ratner "s apartment. She was in New York working as a model so her parents were probably in the heartland as Megyn Kelly stated early in the interview. Her parents probably raised her better then that but alone in the big city she made some bad decisions and now she is regretting them however Russell and Bret did noting illegal if she did not verbally say no. Her story doesn't make sense. At the beginning of the interview Megyn says she stated that she fought Russell off but she stated that she used body language. Closing her mouth or biting him would have been enough to send a message to stop but she did neither.

that all depends on the person Barbara. You might be a mature 17 year old today, but there are, and were many underage kids out there, being very naive and inexperienced. I certainly was a baby at 17, and I would have been overwhelmed in the presence of grown men. Maybe she thought she knew what she was doing and she might have felt extremely grown up. But when it comes down to situations like this, you are just a kid. And even for you, you say you have been sexually active. So what? That doesn't give you life experience or wisdom. That comes with age. And a 17 year old stands no chance with men over 30, it's simply a lack of life experience. I think a lot of young girls overestimate their "experiences" and maturity these days and end up in horribly wrong situations. It's not their fault alone, but I still blame the parents.

toxic tongue ....people marry and have family's younger than 17 all around the world and they are strong women. Even years back in America marriages were as young 17 as a norm. In churches and all around. You ate very aware of choices at 17 and much younger. People just hide behind age. You know right from wrong. Period. Its not an age thing here

A lot of the time you're young (16), you know the guy who just assaulted you, you trusted him up to the moment he's done that and you're in shock. You are in denial that he just did that to you since he's not some stranger, or some ugly scary monster, he's a man you trusted, cared about and would have sworn he'd never heart anyone like he just hurt you, ever.

'Fight' is the least common response. People usually freeze, sometimes they run and seldom do they fight back. Guys like to commonly use the fight or flight lie to make themselves feel better, but clearly, when you look at the history of all the oppression and abuse people have committed against other people, freezing and cooperating is the most common response, even among men.

I might be mistaken but I think the “fight or flight” response is instinctual in nature. Not limited to a specific gender but perhaps more of an instinct that exists in many species on this planet including humans. Not a guaranteed response however, the ladder being “submission” I imagine.

i was working in sales and quit because the owner kept harrasing me and there was NO HELP everyone just said oh well get over it or quit. So I quit and lost my home due to having no money while I was out of work and had to live in my car for two months. No lawyer will take my case because the there is no money in it for them as it was a small company. There is no help or support for victims. I realized this when it happened to me even my own parents said to "be quiet and get used to it this is just apart of the working world."

I don't know this whole thing seems a slippery slope. I mean there are times one is disgusting but there are also women who like that kind of thing...its all quite difficult to quantify what qualifies as a line in my opinion. I hear you, although I don’t believe that the law protects men to the same extent as women. Women, minorities, and the disabled are a “protected class” under the law. It’s confusing, but meant to deal with systemic bias in the system. Civil Rights Act of 1964. Nonetheless sexual harassment in any form in the workplace is innapropriate and potentially illegal.

totally agree with Keri when she said she froze. I did too...toxic shame, horror, immediate feelings of guilt, stupidity, worthlessness. I did flee on other occasions and many times thought why does this just happen to me? I must attract it. secrecy, self loathing...terrible incidents that coloured my childhood and even into my 20's. No counselling then. boys would be boys and men would be men.

Her defense is narrated in the grey area as is her story.... With that being said, I'm not taking Russel's side at all given his bad boy lifestyle... I remember on The Evolution of Hip Hop, Russel recollected that when he went to another country to perform in his heydays, the first thing he asked for upon arrival was "Cocaine and p*ssy".... He sounded like he was ordering a ham sandwich! But! We need to remember that SOME women are drawn to a man of his status and wouldn't mind being with him sexually... It's infuriating to know that a consensual sexual encounter is being used as assault and given media attention and maybe pay offs whereas there are REAL cases where women are forcibly abused and assaulted and are never even heard!

This is so sad. I believe her, the man is a pervert obviously look at the age he started pursuing Kimora. But what disturbs me is the fact she never verbally said anything to object, which makes me realize that parents really need to reinforce that if their child does not feel comfortable about something they need to speak out strongly and firmly to protect themselves. I wish I knew these things as a young adult and I am sure in some aspect all women can relate to certain parts of this lady's story. First of all, 17 is a GIRL, not a WOMAN. Any ADULT male needs to check himself if he's sexually turned on by those under 25yrs old. If he is, he's a pedophile, since, biologically, humans are not fully adults until 25 yrs of age. OBVIOUSLY the age of consent needs to be raised to have a legitimate base in biology, and not some arbitrary number. Maybe then these grown men will give their head a shake and stop predation against children!

Going to dinner with a potential boss is a No-No. Going to dinner with two male bosses it's definitely more of a No-No. Going up to one of their apartment is a total lack of judgment. This young girl at 17 years old where is this girl's mom at? Kari at least you're not laughing much like the last two women did. I hope you teach your daughters never to go alone with any man especially a man that's almost double your age. And teach them to say no not body language or not feelings no means no and that's something you didn't say.
