Enough of internal jokes, now. To History:
After the freemason Garibaldi arrived in Napoli and destroyed the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, the new rulers didn't really like how much the South looked like, and the historical rift between North and South grew even larger. It was not until Mussolini rose to power that this rift would be almost mended, but its effects persist to this day.
Who were the Brigands, you may ask. The answer is simple, they were exactly like their name points out.
"Brigandry" existed for ages all throughout Italy, maybe as a proto-mafia, or just common brawlers and robbers doing the same thing for ages.
But it wasn't until the big ideological fights reached the peninsula that the Brigands became a real impacting factor.
As the Sicilian Kingdom of that time was very closely aligned to the Holy See, many of the conflicts reached both the Papal States and the Sicilies, with the latter's clergy actively acting on behalf of it.
They fought by the Church and Crown in several occasions, with a few becoming notable Sanfedisti like Antonio Caprara and Michele Pezza, AKA Fra' Diavolo.
When Italy became a country, the Brigands became social outcasts, guerrilleros and many formed the backbone of many a mafia family.
Not all of them wanted to give the throne to the Bourbons, some just wanted to get rich and had their own motivations.
But this is a tribute to those who fought for the Southern House.
I don't really support or condemn them, but we're a Catholic channel and we'd be damned if we didn't give our Bourbonic followers a gift (or two) once in a while.
Our hatred for the Savoys unites us.

So I got addicted to this song. And what was my surprise when I found out princess Teresa Cristina of the Two Sicilies had married the Emperor of Brazil, my country. Her daughter abolished slavery here. We are a republic now but the cultural movement to restore the monarchy is growing. May her blood reign again in my country.

This is not an old song. The song was published by Eugenio Bennato in 1979 and became famous because it was part of the soundtrack of a tv movie titled 'L'eredità della priora' based on a novel concerning the Southern resistance against the annexion to the north of Italy. The war in Southern Italy is very little known but it lasted from 1860 to 1875 and it was a bloody guerrilla war that cost more than 100.000 deaths.

Pino Aprile nel testo "Carnefici" da pag. 391 a pag. 411 parla del cosiddetto "genocidio" avvenuto nei confronti del meridione. Between 1860 and 1863 the forces that contrasted the brigandage, which initially could count on 22,000 men weapon of Bersaglieri”, were brought up to 120,000 men, half of all the Italian Army; They were under the command of General Enrico Cialdini. It was a war fought hot and heavy between the Brigands and the regular forces. A state of siege was declared and military law of war was applied for a more effective fight. More than 5,000 bandits or assumed were killed, and another 5,000 arrested, The Italian army was not difference between the real bandits and those who had the fortune or misfortune to favor them in some way.

This song, nice I must say, is not from the 19th Century. It was written in the 1960es or around 1970. It has become very popular in Italy's South, though, especially among Neo-Bourbonists or critics of the Italian unification.

Hi, I live here in southern Italy. The main influences are Spanish (Aragonese) and Normand. If you write on Google maps "castello normanno" (Château normand) or "castello aragonese" (Château aragonais) you will see !

Raison pour laquelle il ne s'est pas sacré sans sa présence, alors qu'un janséniste fidèle à ses principes aurait tout naturellement refusé la présence pontificale, puisque l'objectif du jansénisme (les francs-maçons étaient pour la plupart jansénistes ou protestants, les autres étant plutôt des déistes) est de voir l'autorité pontificale disparaître (tout en reconnaissant son existence, c'est assez drôle et paradoxale). Si Napoléon s'insurge contre le pape en 1809, c'est parce que celui-ci l'a excommunié et que l'unité de l'empire français devient ainsi en fort danger, puisque l'empereur risque la perte de son autorité. Mais pour ce qui est de savoir si il faut un empereur, un roy, un Bonaparte, un Bourbon (si il faut qu'il soit d'Orléans ou d'Espagne etc.)... Je ne suis pas plus certain que ça. Je m'intéresse surtout à la forme que doit prendre le régime : Un pouvoir autoritaire, sans doute absolutiste, appuyé par une certaine autonomie des différentes régions et ainsi de suite. Toutefois, je trouve l'idée de revenir à la royauté assez séduisante dans le sens où c'est le régime français originel, bien que l'aspect impérial puisse apporter une certaine dimension hégémonique à notre patrie mais dans les deux cas, cela fera de la France un grand pays alors comment choisir ? ^^

I’m mixed Italian my mother’s family is from Campania (benevento and Napoli) my father is Argentine with Spaniard,Italian,French and indigenous ancestry with his Italian ancestors coming from Campania (Napoli) Sicily (milazzo) and piedmonte (Torino) I’m mostly southern Italian with alittle bit of northern blood I will always be proud to be southern Italian 💪

Those italian/sicilian Briganti who fought the french remind me of polish/slovak gorals especially highwaymen leader Janosik who is somewhat of goral Robin Hood. He robbed austrian nobles and gave the loot to the local poor. I'm always glad to see Italian patriots at polish independence day march (11.11) at Warsaw. I hope to see you this year as well. Not only sicialians, Briganti were all the Southern Italians.. Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Abruzzo, Basso Lazio. The major Briganti were from Basilicata (Potenza and Rionero) like Carmine Crocco and Ninno Nanco.
