Hi Mike, you can but experiment with the Arcam and RME, I’ve not tested these brands yet but I know the class g of Arcam is extremely good. At KEF recently they have a class G Arcam amp powering their whole system. So as to colouring sound I wouldn’t be sure. I geuss it doesn’t matter if it colours it and you prefer. You do have to buy an op amp. Bw Simon

Not sure what was said, as so long ago. I think I might cringe at viewing this one as videos are a learning curve and I think I’ve been improving all the time.

I think the explosion was just referring to the potential for blowing your speakers with this amp (400w per channel is more than most speakers are rated for) so just keep an eye on the preamp volume, although your ears will probably give up before your speakers do 👍

D Martyn can’t remember tbh. A while back. I don’t think I did but I suspect it will work well.

D Martyn ps my recommendation would be a Hegel amp beyond Nord now. I’m trying a h120 atm and it’s superb. They are just superb sounding for the money.

@@13thnotehifireviews7 Thanks Simon, I am indeed looking at Hegel amps either the 120 or 190. I note that KEF uses Hegel is many ads and demos. My system: KEF LS50s with a KEF Cube 10 sub, Chord Hugo TT2 & M Scaler. Eventually will look at the Innuos but most of my files are from KZfaq, mp4s [ACC 126 kbps audio files (MBP with five 2TB SSDs library]. Player is Colibri or Pine Player. My current A/B amp is adequate, Mies i100 40 wpc but I need to crank the volume to 12 noon on the dial...just wondering if it is time for an upgrade and more power :) Thanks again for your great reviews!

D Martyn cheers very much. I’m using the Hegel h120 with neats iota alpha which are terrific. I want to try explorer and will ask Bob , assuming he liked what I did. Got the Hegel Mohican CD player on it and listening all day long writing an article on Roon at the moment. I sat listening to h190 at London HiFi show with the new r series. Picked my jaw off the floor feeling. 😂

That may be something you find but HiFi is so personal. I could easily live with this Nord because what it achieves at the price is very good.

Rob Harvey I tend to agree to a point Rob but *good* sources (as most are) have a less dramatic effect than the speaker and amp combo, so if you’ve got a reference on where you are with the speakers like I have on my pmc’s which have had loads and loads of different amp combos on, then you know what the different amps are doing. And quite obviously they will change the sound more than the source. I look at it to appeal to all tastes so whilst the nord may or may not be to my tastes (that’s for me anyway, not others) if it does great things for the money, which it does, that’s the point. For me it’s a bit like do I like a Chinese or a curry, they both do the job well, but it’s a case of how good is that Chinese or curry for the money to which I’ll like. Get me?

Definetely not, Audio people are crusty types often and need to lighten up. Audio is not just about stale, staid opinion and convention. A video is meant to be entertaining and whilst one of my early efforts, you’ve got to do something different.
