This video takes place on the same day as the previous one.
On this day, Shabani, a silverback gorilla, did not come out of the basement at breakfast time.
His son, Kiyomasa went outside to get food or went down to check on his father Shabani in the basement.
So there were several times when only the female gorillas were in the room above ground.
I focused this time on the female gorillas while Shabani, the commander, was away.
While Shabani was away, Ai, the female, did a good job.
When Nene and Annie were Squabbling in the ground room, Ai was showing off to Annie and stopping her from messing around with Nene. She also looked out for Shabani in the basement.
Ai plays an important role in Shabani's group.

Nene was born wild in Cameroon.
The other three were born in the Higashiyama Zoo in Japan.

Oh how i wish Annie and Nene could relax and play happily together. I think Annie truly wants to play with Nene but she goes about it all wrong 😢

lol me too but that won’t happen they don’t like each other an Nene started that dislike when she attacked her when she was a baby an Shabani charged an reprimanded Nene so deep seeded resentments lol. Annie has a playful side but Nene only shows her soft side to Ai but I love her fiesty spirit an her maternal bond with Junior lol

I think all Annie has ever wanted was to be accepted by Nene and never has. Nene didn’t like having another baby to take away some of the attention from Shabani for Kiyo, but Kiyo and her are really close so that didn’t matter. If nene would just treat her better Annie would love her.

Annie hates Nene for very good reason. Nene has always hated Annie because of it. Funny to watch Nene go to her husband who she despises for protection.

@@infinitejest441 Nene attacked her when Annie was first reunited with the family as a baby. Shabani has had to protect her ever since she was little and Ai has showed little interest in raising her. I think dad and daughter are so close because of it... and Annie can't help but poke the bear every once in a while to mess with Nene. :D

this is a great video. i cant remember a time where i have seen Ai show off towards annie like that. the whole time leading up to that section i was thinking "hmm, i bet annie wouldnt be smacking nene around so much if AI had disciplined her a bit more" and then all of a sudden Ai comes swooping in with a flying punch lolol. way to go Ai!

@@Apolloblue36 I could just be overly sensitive and wrong but he hasn't been his playful self, hasn't had many urges to engage with the others at times and it just feels like somethimg is bothering him. His energy feels different. Hopefully I made sense!

Maybe he’s getting training for something. At his age, cardio issues are a risk, many zoos do cardio ultrasounds…as all zoos should do. Hoping too it’s nothing serious.

Reading through the comments it sounds like Nene use to beat Annie as a baby and AI was an apathetic mother to her. Shabani appears to be the one that has raised Annie and really her only protector outside of her brother.

Shit rolls down hill. Annie is now stronger than only Nene so Annie gives it to Nene like Ai was givin it to Annie (Perhaps not as much as Annie was doin but she’s got a lot of time to make up) - No one looked hurt. Maybe annoyed but I get it. Try being trapped with your family 24/7.

Yes nene can still defend herself but Annie when She was younger couldn’t defended herself against Nene and sometimes Nene and Annie”s mother also doubled themselves against a small baby and it’s the truth and if Shabani didn’t defended Annie Annie could get lots of injuries herself. You said you like the underdog so were you when Nene was abusing Annie? You are just a syncopate that go to extreme bad mouthing a little girl in order to praised not an underdog but an obsessed gorilla that didn’t treat a baby well because her jealousy!

Annie only treats Nene this way, not any of the other gorillas. She remembers how Nene treated her, she knows she’s never been accepted. I don’t blame her for giving it back to Nene. Nene attacked her when she was a baby and couldn’t defend herself, now the reverse is happening.
