Yes, the Attico is truly a crowd-free experience. This is in part due to the size of the elevator. SO they don't sell that many tickets, which is why it can be a hard-to-get ticket. But it's definitely worth it! Glad you had such a great experience!

Great video! I did, however, have to learn to navigate the new site on my own because I was trying to get tickets for our visit in mid-June. From my experience, ALL the full experience tickets were difficult to get - even the arena ones. So, I settled for the 24hr Arena only tickets because they were easier to get. I think it should be fine considering our girls (14 years and 9 years) will be traveling with us this time. But I'm glad to see info coming out to help navigate the new ticketing site. It's a lot to learn on your own. Thanks for all you do!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you were able to figure out the new site and get tickets to the Arena 24h entrance. The great thing about this is you WILL see the Colosseum AND you get to visit the SUPER sites on the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. On the other hand, if you have girls that age, they may not want to spend as much time visiting the Forum / Palatine, but I hope you still will spend time there. In my opinion, it's the best part of the Colosseum ticket!

I'm HOPING the line does not become super long. It's a bit inconvenient especially if someone wants to purchase a ticket to the Colosseum there. If you buy the ticket at that entrance with the intention of visiting the Colosseum first, you'll have a bit of a trek back to the entrance to the Colosseum. OTOH if you are fine with entering the Roman Forum first, you'll have to 1) book a later time to the Colosseum for that day and 2) make sure you give yourself enough time to visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill on this ticket because there is no re-entry.

I have always been lucky and purchasing my tickets at the entrance to Palatine Hill. The last time I had done so was 2018. It was a complete ticket that included Colosseo, and Forum.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing! I'm very grateful! Tickets to the Colosseum go on sale 30 days in advance. They don't necessarily go on sale on the specific hour of the visit, and tickets are not all released at once for a given time slot, so if you don't see the tickets you want, keep checking back. It's VERY easy to get standard entry Colosseum tickets so you should have no problem with those. The FULL Experience tickets are harder to come by so if that's what you want, you'll need a bit of patience, time, and luck. Have a great visit!

Wow thank you so much! Yes, tickets go on sale 30 days in advance. They are supposed to go on sale at 8:30am, Rome time, but they also release tickets periodically so it pays to keep checking back.

Thank you for the info! Last time we were in Rome (2014) we did not get tickets and they were not letting anyone else into the Colosseum. Also, the Trevi Fountain was under construction and we only got to see that with the water turned off. We plan to go again in 2025, hopefully we will see the things we missed the first time. 😊

Great video, saw your video on the night tour of the Colosseum last year, you mentioned your tix were from Coopculture. With Coopculture no longer doing tickets. Is there any 3rd party that still provides night tours of the Colosseum that you would reccomend?

Thanks a lot! Yes, I made the night video when CoopCulture was still the vendor. Right now, the Colosseum is not offering night tours but when they do, you can purchase tickets on their site. And once they start offering the night visits, third-party vendors will start re-selling them, too. You can still use the links in my night tour video to book these night tours, but don't book anything until the Colosseum officially starts selling them again.

Lately, Rome has been busy pretty much year-round except for a few weeks in January after the Christmas holidays end on January 6. Late August can be a bit quieter than the height of summer and it's certainly a bit less crowded than the peak seasons of September and October, but I wouldn't count on it not being busy at all.

@@velocci6666 Lately Rome is just crowded from around mid-February through late October. It's hard to say if late August is more or less crowded than March. There will be crowds during both seasons, and the Pantheon is one of Rome's biggest attractions so you can expect crowds there throughout the year.

LOVE your videos! So helpful. I do have one question. Is there a ticket option for a guided tour of the Colosseum PLUS a guided tour of the underground? Or would you need to buy separate tickets for this? Thank you!

Thank you so much! If you are asking about getting a guided tour of these sites via the Colosseum website, then the answer is KIND of no. However, if you book a tour of the underground through the Colosseum, they do include the history of the Colosseum so that they can better explain the underground portion. What's missing from these Colosseum tours is a tour of the Roman Forum. So, if you want a more complete tour, whether of the monument itself, or of the whole park, including the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill, you'll need to book through an outside tour company. I have links to some of these in my description.

I went to the Colosseum (& Rome), for the first time last week, It was a fantastic experience. I would say they should ban the tour guides from carrying flags though, that gets a bit annoying.

Thank you! Every ticket you purchase online / in advance is a skip the line ticket. The "line" that skip the line refers to is the queue on site to purchase tickets at the ticket booths there. All ticket holders must go through a very short line to get inside, go through security, and then pass through the turnstiles. These lines move quickly and you are usually inside within 5 minutes.

Thank you so much. I have this page on my website you might find helpful: www.romewise.com/accessible-rome.html Regarding the Colosseum, they do offer access to those in a wheelchair. And once inside, there is a lift you can use to get between the 1st and 2nd levels. Regarding Full Experience tickets, the Attico is accessible with the dedicated lift and you can explore the level between the 2nd and 3rd tiers. Currently, the top 3rd, 4th, and 5th tiers are only accessible via stairs but they are planning to add a chair lift there in the near future. The Underground and Arena are also accessible to those in a wheelchair. The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are accessible to those in a wheelchair, but there are parts of it that you may not be able to visit. At the Roman Forum entrance on the via dei Fori Imperiali, there are elevators specifically for those in a wheelchair.

Great video-tons of info.. Understanding what you said about tour companies, does that mean there are no longer skip the line tours?? We want to see the underground, main floor and tier 2, is that a possible skip the line tour?? If so, is there a company you could recommend?

Thanks for watching! All tickets you purchase in advance allow you to skip the line - the line to buy tickets. Because tour companies get your tickets for you, all tours are skip-the-line. You may encounter a short line of others with your time slot going in at the same time. Then, everyone must go through security. But all of this usually takes 5, max 10 minutes. In the description of this video, and in the pinned comment, you'll find links to the tours I recommend. But if you can't find availability with them, there are a lot of providers who offer these tours, and they mostly all do a good job. The issue is being able to secure your underground tickets. It's doable if you have time and energy. They are literally across from each other, so logistically, it's very doable. Also remember that your Colosseum ticket comes with a one-time entry to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill. But if the only tickets you can get to the Domus Aurea and the Colosseum are on the same day, it's doable. Just try to spread them out so you have time in between for a bit of rest and refreshment.

Do you know if it is possible to by a ticket to the attic from inside if available? I have that Full Experience Underground ticket but it would be nice also to visit that attic.

In theory, it's possible to purchase any Colosseum ticket on the same day, however, this is limited by availability. Since the Attico and Underground are the most highly sought after tickets, and the least available, they are typically sold out long in advance, and it won't be possible to purchase them on the same day. But you can always ask!

If you get the FULL EXPERIENCE TICKET WITH ENTRY TO THE ARENA OF THE COLOSSEUM (includes SUPER) can you visit palatine hill and Roman forum before your entry to Colosseum, as long as it’s within 24hrs of your timed entry. There is a 6pm Colosseum slot and was thinking could do SUPER spots before earlier in the day and then Colloseum at 6pm…?

Yes, as I mentioned, your one-time entry to the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill is good for up to 24 hours on EITHER side of your Colosseum entry time. So yes, you can visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill earlier in the day before your 6pm Colosseum visit. Just remember, that entrance to the park is one-time and there is no re-entry with the same ticket. So if you intend to get the most out of the park and include the SUPER sites, I recommend you make a plan for what you want to see and get into the park as early as possible to allow yourself to cover a lot of ground.

Yes, on the ticketing home page of the Parco Colosseo, there is a section right in the middle. It says "Do you have a membership card?" You just enter your card number, click "REDEEM" and you can book your visit from there. Here again is the website: ticketing.colosseo.it/en/

If you purchase tickets to the Underground, that visit includes the Arena. But if you purchase tickets to the Arena (much easier to get), it does NOT include the Underground. SO if what you want is to see both, just get the Underground ticket (if you can find availability.)

They are released 30 days in advance, however, not all tickets are released at once. Some people have said they think the tickets are released exactly 30 days in advance, to the hour, but I know that they can be released throughout the day. If you are looking for standard Colosseum tickets, they are readily available and you can get them just about any time before your visit. If you are asking about the coveted Full Experience tickets, you can try getting on the site 30 days in advance, but you may find them already sold out. But they keep releasing tickets so you should just keep checking back.

The Full Experience tickets which include the Arena floor, the Underground + Arena floor, and the Attico, are the ones with the highest demand and lowest supply. If you were able to get tickets to the underground, I hope you bought them. If you are trying to get other Full Experience tickets, I suggest you just keep trying as they release these a little at a time from 30 days in advance.

The flags indicate the languages spoken by the guide or by someone accompanying you. So if you go to the Guided Tours page, you'll see that there are tours available in English, Spanish, Italian, and French. For the Underground, you can book a guided tour or just a regular visit. But even on the regular visit without a guided tour, you must be accompanied to the Underground. And the person who accompanies you speaks Italian (and possibly only Italian). It's not a tour, so it should not matter. Once you finish the Underground portion, you will be free to visit the Arena floor and main areas (1st and 2nd levels) of the Colosseum on your own anyway.

They are supposed to become available exactly 30 days to the hour in advance, however it's not always the case. They definitely become available 30 days in advance, but you may need to keep checking back. Also, they don't release tickets all at once, so again, you can keep checking back. I strongly urge people to consider just getting standard entry tickets to the Colosseum, as these are easy to get and plentiful. This visit allows you to see almost everything you want to see inside the Colosseum.

@@laurenlauren5066 Thank you! Glad you find it helpful. Again, if you're looking for standard tickets, you won't have any problem. As of today, June 9, you should find availability through July 8. Tickets go on sale 30 days in advance but it's not an exact science. Yes, some tickets are released at midnight, but tickets are also released throughout a given month, so the best bet if you're looking for the very hard to get tickets is to be patient and to keep checking back.

Hello, do we need to give the online ticket in printed form or is it enough to show it as a pdf file from our phone? If we need to give it in printed form, is there a booth that will print the ticket for us when we go to the colosseum without waiting in the other ordinary ticket line? And for those under the age of 18, tickets cannot be purchased on the website, so can the person under the age of 18 enter with his/her family without waiting in the other ordinary ticket lines or do they have to wait and buy a ticket? In 1 week I am planning a trip with my family and since we want to visit many places, we do not want to wait in line, thank you for your attention.

As I mentioned, you do not need to print your ticket. The pdf on your phone will suffice. If you have kids under 18, and are visiting the Colosseum with a standard entry ticket, you can't book for them on the website. You just book for yourselves and then get their tickets onsite. If you are with kids under 18 and are booking any Full Experience ticket, you MUST book the free tickets for them and provide their names. Either way, you can collect their tickets inside. Thanks for watching. No worries, it will be easier than you might think. Just download their free app and once you are inside the Colosseum, you can open the app and it will see where you are and you can listen to the audio then. There are only two entrances to the Colosseum, and it will be easy to see where to go. Your entrance will be on the side with the most crowds and people. The other entrance is specifically only for one ticket type (Arena 24h) so there's almost nobody there.

Yes, with all FULL Experience tickets, you get a MORE complete experience: The standard entry ticket allows you entry to the 1st and 2nd levels of the Colosseum (which includes walking around both the inside and outside of the rings), the permanent exhibits on the inside of the rings, and any special exhibit there may be. The FULL Experience tickets include all of the above PLUS something extra - the arena floor, the attico, or the underground+arena floor.

Love your videos! Quick question: I know you’re working on a video for Colosseum tickets for kids, but my visit is 30 days from tomorrow and I want to be ready to buy my timed entry. I have 3 teenagers under 18 traveling with me. Do I just buy my own ticket online, and then show up to pick up their tickets on the assigned day and time, or is there a way I should reserve my one ticket, plus 3 kids? I’ve tried practicing to see if there is a place where I can enter the kids’ info, but I’m afraid I’ll accidentally buy tickets for the wrong day. And if I wait until 30 days out, I’m afraid I won’t be quick enough to secure tickets. Any advice?

If you purchase standard entry tickets, then you just get the tickets for the adults. Then, when you arrive at the Colosseum, go inside with your tickets (and your kids), and go to the internal ticket counter and collect your free kids' tickets there. If you purchase any Full Experience tickets, then choose the Free Ticket option for your kids (along with your tickets), and you'll see a bunch of options. The free kid's option is the last une "under 18", so click there. You'll need to enter everyone's names for these tickets, including your kids'.

Yes they are still active as a ticketing website for other sites in Italy. In Rome there are a few such as the Roman Houses at Celio but it's not something you really need to book in advance.

There are a lot of tickets available for standard entry. The Underground and Attico are very difficult to get due to high demand and low supply. But as I explained in my video, I truly think getting a standard ticket will allow you to see a lot and you can even see down into the underground from the main levels.

Seems like you aren’t allowed to get tickets for the rest of the week, etc. if you already have the . I got three tickets for June 24th and one Underground. Went to get two additional tickets and although I got to the check out face no matter how many times I tried I eventually ran of time after repeated error messages. I got underground pickets last night with my daughter three times and each time we failed even when switching emails who registered etc. strange and hours wasted.

Yes I know it's a frustrating situation trying to get Underground tickets. This is why I strongly suggest getting Arena Floor tickets (much more available) or even the regular entry tickets. You really see a lot, including most of the underground (albeit from above), with either of those two tickets.

I think all these new changes are for the better. The Parco Colosseo is really trying to improve the visitor experience while at the same time taking care of this historic monument and I think they are doing an amazing job of balancing the needs of tourists and the city alike.

It is my understanding there are no refunds for tickets purchase directly through the Colosseum's website. You could write and ask them. Did you purchase your tickets through a reseller? If so, you can ask them about their policy.

All tickets you purchase in advance are referred to as "skip the line", because they allow you to skip the line to buy tickets. However, you may have to wait in a short line with others who have the same entry time as you, but it should move quickly. Then, everyone must go through security, but again, this moves quickly. If you purchase a ticket in advance, I recommend showing up about 15-20 minutes ahead of time to find the entrance (easy to spot), get inside to the security check, and go through security.

The purchasing of tickets was incredibly difficult as every reseller has an ip address that sounds official, all I wanted to do was gain entry but they all sold tours. This “official site” has a bad ip name and doesn’t show up in searches either. So it is not great for people who don’t know the ropes. All I can say is I wish I had seen your video earlier, before I committed to a booking. But that’s not your fault, thanks for your info

Yes, unfortunately that is the case. In recent years, the Parco Colosseo has been working to combat the practice of reselling at exorbitant prices and now the only way to get entry tickets is either on the Parco Colosseo site itself, or through a third part but with a bundle. So a third party can bundle entry tickets, either with a tour or with other tickets. And that's where you might wind up paying more than you want to. But these are legitimate ways to get tickets, and for many people, it's ok because they do want a tour, or to visit another monument/site that is bundled with the Colosseum. I understand your frustration. The Colosseum underground is the most highly sought-after ticket with the least amount of availability. I suggest you try to book just the arena as a Full experience, as there is a lot more availability for that, and you see almost all of the underground from there anyway.
