About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists - but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.
After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew - and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

Excellent video. You are spot on with your advice. We went in June and still could only put up with the heat until about one PM before deciding to head back to the train (and we were from Miami where heat is a regular fact of life!). We took the train and they were easy and cheap. It puts you off within short walking distance of the Porta Marina gate. You are right about hats, lotion, and coming ready for heat (no shade and the stones just reflect the heat onto you)`. We had thermoses which we constantly refilled at the many water fountains around. Even though I had read upon Pompeii for years and my daughter who was with us is a Latin scholar, a guide would have helped us move faster through the streets to the most important sites.Great advice on how to enjoy the experience that is Pompeii!

Secondo me, la citta di Napoli era incredibile! We spent 3 nights in naples and loved it. We went on a “free” naples street food walking tour (it was great), explored the underground city (awesome), walked through the alleyways of spaccanapoli and the Spanish quarter (what a great vibe), went to the naples museum, visited Pompeii, and thoroughly enjoyed some great meals, pastries, and coffee. We felt the city was very safe for tourists - even at night. Always be smart (watch out for pickpockets) and you will have a great time. Che Bella Citta! Forza Napoli sempre!

Great video gentlemen! I had a feeling those one day "see it all" tours from Rome were not going to give us enough time in Pompei. We're going to be based in Rome for six and a half days in early June, and if it was up to me we wouldn't even go down to Pompei because there's so much to see in Rome and I hate rushing. That said, our 17 year old ancient world loving daughter is going to be with us and she has been DREAMING for years about going to Pompei/Herculaneum so I'm trying to figure out how to make that happen. Are you aware of any tours that depart from Rome and do JUST Pompei and Herculaneum, or do you advise taking a train/renting a car and then meet up with a guide when we arrive at the sites? Thanks.

Do you have any recommendations on a tour guide for Pompeii? I’d rather not be in a large tour that takes three hours.

I couldn't believe the state of the main train station when we arrived there last year. The train was covered in graffiti and the station as well. Why don't they cover the building with pictures of Pompei? It's one of the most visited places in the world, but overwhelmingly ugly. I thought the stations in the UK were bad! I'll never complain again. After Pompei, we asked the man at the station for a ticket for the closest station to Herculaneum. He said it would be along in 40 minutes. We waited for 2 hours and no train, there's no board at the station with times and what train is coming next and where it stops either. We are going again in a few weeks and this time we are getting a tour to Herculaneum instead.

I want to like Naples, all I see is filth and graffiti though. I was in some Ukrainian towns in 2018 and all of them were cleaner and less rundown despite the collapse of the Soviet Union and its repercussions. In some parts of the old town in Naples I seriously asked myself if I am still in Europe or some 3rd world country.

Naples might look a little run down but if you give it a chance you’ll discover that is one of the most vibrant and alive city in Europe
