Thank you for your review! It pushed me forward the last step to buy JBL L52. I completely agree with your opinion: it is the best speaker for Heavy Metal on this price range. I tried to listen several speakers, KEF, Polk, Klipsch, B&W…but L52 sounds best for Slayer, DIO, Slipknot, etc… Thanks again from Japan.

Wow the Polk Reserve 200s are really good. I went back and listened to this same song and there is a big difference too me. . Which isn't really mind blowing. But the polks outperformed these Jbls.

My old Yamaha CR400 amp has this specs: continuous performance 8 Ohm: 2x 20 Watt 4 Ohm: 2x 24 Watt dynamic performance 8 Ohm: 2x 56 Watt 4 Ohm: 2x 76 Watt Will this be okay for the speakers? I will not hear them too loud, but I am worried about the rather low sensitivity.

This is not a full range speaker. It must have a reasonably flat response from 20hz to 20,000hz to be considered a full range speaker. It is a decent speaker, but needs a subwoofer. It is depending on the JBL name to sell at such a high price. The woofer is made in china, but I believe the speaker is assembled in the US.

@@DougMen1 They are not, I agree. But comparing to Evo 4.2 mid range is so-so. The third driver is missing. But for some genres this is fine I think.
@DougMen1
@DougMen1 2 жыл бұрын
@@sc0or They would sound better with less sucked out mids, but that sells in the current market, where HT sound is as important as music. Plus, it stands out in a showroom, and B&W and Klipsch sell tons of speakers voiced like that. Even MA, who used to have very lush mids on their Bronze line are now getting more V shaped, 'cause they want a bigger piece of that Klipsch/B&W market share. I wonder if these JBLs are crossed over too high and the woofer is too beamy at the upper end of its range. That's always been the problem with the B&W 600 series. The crossover is way up at 4khz when it should be at 2-2.5khz. And, my comments about Klipsch only apply to their R and RP speakers. The La Scala is one of my favorite speakers on earth, and are my bucket list #1

I am not a big fan of either the Klipsh heritage or these JBLs. They are honey traps for hipsters out to recapture their youth by buying a copy of their dads stereos. They tend to be incredibly overpriced for the quality they offer and designed to make money more than music.

"Interesting" take as to why you think people are purchasing Klipsch and JBLs, formed entirely on your baseless opinion, and not on any real data or facts from true customers as to why they chose to purchase a particular brand of speakers (over the endless other audio equipment choices in the world).

@interesting I have several speaker set here now including the larger L82 and 4309's. Both sets are incredible in my opinion and both make the current budget champ the Polk r200 sound like the really good budget speaker it is. The L82 and 4309 are in a different league especially if you listen loudly and prefer a lively sound that never gets harsh or bright yet sound live. I have had the ELAc-dbr62 here as well. What a boring speaker that one is. Best to listen. You may be surprised by what you like. Read ASR read all the reviews and watch youtube for ideas & listen, listen, listen.

@@gregorymorrill7558 You have to listen of course, but very few have the opportunity to do so. It's not like stereo stores are popping up like mushrooms these days. I agree with you about the price. At $1000 they are overpriced, but at $600 they would be a good deal. I do think they are better than the RP600M from what I've heard from them here. And, any of them, these, the Klipsches, the Polk R100 and 200, the Elac DBR62 and B 6.2, MA Bronzes or Silvers, KEF Qs, Focal Chora, Dali Oberon, Diamond 12.2s, and several others, are all far better than the horrible horrible B&W 606 and 607. Those are the most overpriced and terrible sounding speakers ever.

@DougMen1
@DougMen1 2 жыл бұрын
@@bass4life294 Because I like speakers that sound and measure well, instead of like a roller coaster, with huge suckouts in the midrange and tweeters that are 10db louder than the woofers, to the point of being so harsh and shrill that it's like nails on a blackboard? Yeah, I'm the clueless one! Apparently you're as deaf as B&W's engineers, and you're all so old that you can't hear anything over 10khz and don't know how crappy they are. I used to be a huge B&W fanboy, back when they knew how to design speakers. But, after Laurence Dickie left they just kept getting worse and worse until they all sound like a boombox with its graphic EQ set to a big V. Go ahead and throw you money down the toilet on those pieces of crap and try and convince yourself that's good sound, if that's what makes you happy. I'll listen to my speakers that actually have some midrange, where the vocalists don't sound like they're 100 yards behind the speakers wrapped in a few blankets.
