When Michael Stipe sings, there is NO one else in the world. Such a talent and a showman and to see him sing his song with his Idol Patti Smith, well it just doesn’t get any better. One of my favourite REM songs.

What about ...: " this is one of the best REM performances I´ve ever seen cause the backing vocals are so strong that it hijacks the song along ." . Not much into what Patti Smith does but does she shine in this context .

REM had some of the most legendary collaborations with other musicians. Patti Smith , Neil Young , Thom Yorke.. I’m sure I’m missing a bunch . Michael Stipe was never hesitant to share the stage , and how lucky we are to have these recordings ❤️

I don't know if anyone is even going to see this because the video is a few years old but: Patti Smith puts so much heart into her singing she makes herself vulnerable to us with every note. I profoundly respect her courage as well as her talent.

Check out all of those young people *not* addicted to their phones and not ruining the concert by mediating their direct experience of the present moment through a stupid device, for the sake of bragging about it later to their "friends" on social media, which didn't exist yet. Oh, the good ol' days.

Let me first say thanx to Utube yet again. Those mini "flags" we get on our browser about responses to previous comments has brought me back to this thread. It was over 2 years, and I could not recall the details of the feedback I received. Yet thankfully, it was of a nature that would bring me to add further to the effort of virtue so needed in present times. Truly. Talent....REM...Patty....Life and Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness....Keep the Checks and Balances forefront. And thus we shall move forward. Thank You.
