Sadly, this is nothing new. I've seen this type of driving from TTC drivers way too many times.

The red light was on for 4 Seconds, in driving terms that is a suicidal driver and we can't have those driving buses full of people. There are many jobs out there but not many spare lives to put in danger.

I think I understand what happened. I believe the bus driver was trying to keep pace with the other TTC bus running in the left lane. The TTC bus travelling in the left lane was travelling at a high enough speed that enabled it to just make it across the intersection while the light was yellow. The TTC bus in the right lane was trying to keep pace, and she floored it, albeit, too late, as a result, she ran through the intersection on a red light. It was a good move to fire her. She obviously does not have the capability to use good judgement. How could she really. I mean, she's a single mother of 2. You gotta figure she had poor judgement choosing a mate/s to have these 2 kids with, why would she have any better judgement to determine whether or not she should or shouldn't have made it safely across that intersection.

I guess every single parent, then, is guilty of having "poor judgement"...sorry, but that's an incredibly ignorant thing to say. Who can predict the future?

Shouldn't that bus be in the outside lane also? Or is it different in Ont.

You never know what happened in the second bus , people could of been standing because it was packed , possible the driver could of been texting , and passenger safety people holding on could of went flying

She should count her lucky stars. It could've been way worse. Driving a transit bus is a pain in the ass, I am sure she was running behind her schedule. Moral of the story: Dashcam folks dashcam, go buy one today. Lot of assholes and insurance scammers out there in Toronto, save ur ass and get a dashcam.

I have seen streetcars doing the exact same thing. Those drivers do always the same thing. At night time is way worse, sadly.

For everyone saying that TTC was cruel, please consider this. I'm a nursing student, and nursing is also a very demanding and stressful position. But imagine if your loved one was in the hospital and I was their nurse and I happened to make a huge error that may have potentially put your loved one in a life/death situation, would you be as forgiving? I highly doubt it. I could give you a whole list of all the problems I have going on that affected my work, but you and I would both agree that in a career like nursing, you shouldn't be working if you're affected by personal matter. I want everyone to know that bus drivers carry just as much responsibility as a future health care practitioner like my self. The only difference is that I make sure your loved one stays alive, and bus drivers make sure that my loved one arrives home alive.

YoursTruly Calm down with the nursing. You haven't even gotten your ticket yet you talk so highly of nurses. There are other jobs that are just as important. It's all a chain effect.
@ObsessedPersonality9 жыл бұрын
Where does it suggest that I thought nurses were more important? I just described the line of work we are in and the potential problems we could run into if we were reckless and started listing personal excuses for our mistakes. What I do emphasize, is that bus drivers take their jobs more seriously because, whether it is apparent or not, they directly dictate the lives of the people taking the bus.

The driver deserves the let-go, otherwise sooner or later she will kill others. Don't feel sorry for her, as it is a good news for the people filling her position, it means that a person better fitting the position of bus driver will have the opportunity to find the right job, which is good for this person and also fair for torontonians who subsidizing TTC.

I was a bus driver with LONDON TRANSPORT for 9 years, passengers interrupt you, and this can lead to a lapse in concentration, we all make mistakes, SHAME ON YOU TTC, whats more the guy who filmed this....are you so a perfect driver?
@adventureswithpaulandsally55169 жыл бұрын
Shame on you, Jim McCabe, you should lay off the ATU kool-aid a bit to realize that public safety has to come first, and that attempting to shame the whistle-blowers and inventing excuses makes you and your union look shameful. This woman has no right to be behind the wheel of 38,000 pounds of moving glass and steel; there are still plenty of opportunities for her in Toronto's current job market.
@jimmccabe7889 жыл бұрын
Perhaps if you read my statement, people make mistakes at the wheel (no doubt you don't) passengers DO distract you, I have never worked with the TTC, I was employed by London Transport in the UK, anyone in public transport who is a driver will tell you its not an easy job to do, actually a very demanding and stressful position
@adventureswithpaulandsally55169 жыл бұрын
A driver who is easily distracted by passengers should never be allowed to operate a public transit bus. Time for the TTC to cull the weak drivers and retain only those who can handle such a demanding and stressful position.
@ObsessedPersonality9 жыл бұрын
Jim McCabe As a nursing student, I'd like to challenge your opinion Jim McCabe. First of all, nursing is also a very demanding and stressful position and I know that because I spend countless hours taking care of patients in the hospitals as a part of my education. So I understand your point of view. However, if your loved one was in the hospital and I was their nurse and I happened to make a huge error that may have potentially put your loved one in a life/death situation, would you be as forgiving? I highly doubt it. I could give you a whole list of reasons why that accident happened (including that I'm human), but you wouldn't care. And rightfully so. You shouldn't. And regardless of whether your loved one died or lived due to my mistake, if you found out about the event that may have potentially killed your loved one, you would want me fired stating that "I'm a danger to the other patients". And you would be 100% right. I want you to know that you carry just as much responsibility as I do. The only difference is that I make sure your loved one stays alive, and you make sure that my loved one arrives home alive.
@YamiSphinx9 жыл бұрын
Jim McCabe She was ALREADY on probation, how many mistakes should they allow her to make?? Until she actually kills someone?? Is that the mistake that makes it ok to finally let her go?
