OMG, agreed. I can't stand all that magic crap. What I've always liked about superhero stories was the element of realism. When I have to buy into magic, you lose me. Even if superheroes like Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Batman, etc., are far-fetched, there's a real human at the core who had something exceptional happen to him. They don't have the same budget as the movies. The MCU movie with the most similarities to this show is Captain America: Winter Soldier and that film had a budget of $175 million which had a runtime of about 2 hours, 15 minutes. This show has a total budget of $150 million for 6 one hour episodes. That is $25 million per one hour episode. It's not the same a movie budget. But it is much higher than most TV productions. Only the Marvel Disney+ shows have that budget, that I know of. Even The Mandalorian is $100 million per season or $12.5 million per episode when each movie in the sequel trilogy had a budget of around $300 million.

@@richierich7229 The Mandalorian only has 30 min episodes (the actual runtime when you take off the recap and endcredits) so it works out at the same budget per hour if your numbers are correct. The Deadpool movie was made for 60m. The reason that Star Wars and DC movies have such bloated budgets is because of bad management and reshoots. You also have to consider that a 6 hour movie is going to cost a lot less than 3 two hour movies, because you have one cast, director, sets etc. I checked the credits for the MCU series, and they all have the same director for every episode. So they really are being shot more like a movie than a TV series. They will be for sure more plot and dialogue heavy than the movies, which is exactly what you would expect from a TV series. The documentary series on the Mandalorian Season 1 also shows how Jon Favreau used new technology to create high quality special effects on a lower budget. I assume they will be using similar techniques for all of the series.

There are 8 episodes in the second season of The Mandalorian and at least 2 of them were 45 minutes while the remaining 6 were 30 minutes, altogether that is 4 and a half hours. The whole season was made on a budget of $100 million, meaning $12.5 million per episode. The average runtime of a theatrical film is 2 hours, let's say for this example that the film is 2 hours 30 minutes long. With The Mandalorian's per episode budget of $12.5 million, five 30 minute episodes needed to make a 2 hour 30 minute long film will be 12.5 multiplied by 5 which is $62.5 million. And that is obviously not equal to the actual budget of any blockbuster theatrical film of recent times, let alone a Star Wars film. Hence, the show doesn't have the same budget as it's theatrical film counterparts. It does however have a blockbuster television budget, just not a blockbuster film budget. As for Deadpool, that was basically an indie superhero film. The studio did not have faith in it and wanted to minimize it's losses that's why they were given such a meager budget. The cast and crew did everything they could to minimize costs. Ryan Reynolds himself took a pay cut and was only paid $2 million for the film to help keep the budget down, an actor of his status normally nets $10 million to $20 million for a blockbuster leading role. The locations and the actions were more or less grounded in reality and didn't require green screens, just good stunt people because it was mostly practical. Most of the CGI budget when to the metal guy (I forget his name) and Megasonic Teenage Warhead when she uses her powers. Even Deadpool's face was done with make up and not CGI. After the first movie was a hit, the studio wasted no time to greenlight the sequel and gave them all the money they wanted and Deadpool 2's budget was $110 million. Even Logan, which was a film more grounded in reality, had a budget of up to $125 million. No TV show, has ever had a budget of $100 million for an equivalent of 2 hours worth of episodes.

@@richierich7229 Well actually only one Episode had a runtime longer than 40 mins, episode 1, which comes in at 46 minutes of actual runtime when you take off the recap and endcredits. But the total runtime is 340 mins which still comes out at 4 hours 45 mins if you take of 7 minutes of intro/outro for each episode. So basically a 5 hour movie. You do of course have to take into account that a 5 hour movie will cost substantially less than two 2.5 hour movies though. At the end of the day the Mandalorian looked better and had way more action than Wonder Woman 1984 which cost how much? So who really cares?
