I shoot a lot of events with my V1c, an external pack is something I was surprised it was not capable of doing at purchase. Looks like this pro model will be high on the to-get list!

Very excited about the thermal improvement, but that fill flash seems gimmicky and not useful. The manual/ttl switch is a good idea too

I am pretty shure that this holds true for standard sync only. In HSS mode the flahs will slow down after a couple of shots.

I have just purchased the original version & found that it really needed an external battery pack & a better battery when I cover event so I will definitely upgrade to the new version when it becomes available. USB C charging is handy as it is one less thing that I have to try & cram into by camera case!

The fill flash seems like over engineering to compensate for the absence of a bounce card. I'd have been more excited if the SU-1 could actually fired without being connected to the V1 Pro, but it would be interesting to see if users find a creative way to use it.
@ldmndz46527 ай бұрын
Yup..it is bc of the round head design..lol but of course you can get those aftermarket bounce reflectors for the V1..I have them on mine it has an elastic band I just put it on..and works great..but now this V1Pro has that sub flash..will defiantly consider upgrading..especially for those other additions and subtle changes..I like the quick TTL/M switch and the added capability of external power..
@charleshamilton6357 ай бұрын
The Manual /TTL switch was already on the Godox V860III . Does the original V1 really not have this? The Flashpoint version of the V1 does. The power port is welcomed, but the placement seems odd, and there is potential for breakdown the way the plug and cord are positioned. When you use a pack on your belt or shoulder you are always stretching and stressing that cord. I like the additional wink light, but they made it a little clunky. I used wink lights on Metz flash and they were adjustable by ratio to the main head. They added a nice specular fill when you were bouncing the main head off of a wall or ceiling. This has the same W-s as the V1.

The new pack option is alright, I still think buying an extra battery is a better option. The from flash I like that

They could’ve made it a bit more powerful using an AD200/AD300 battery setup instead. External power is a bit lazy and dated. I hated using a power pack back in the day 😂
@ldmndz46527 ай бұрын
Yes thats true..but then why would they cannibalize those other models?..if you want more power then get those AD100,200, etc..yes it would have been cool if they found a way to bump it to like 90-100 watt power..lol
@flashspotlight7 ай бұрын
@@ldmndz4652 because giving a “pro” more power capacity and a bit more power is a true upgrade. Wedding and event photographers would love that on an on-camera flash. The output doesn’t have to meet the existing 200 and 300.
@stevengeorges90467 ай бұрын
Does using an external battery give you faster refresh rates or just bigger capacity? I am assuming that you can use more than the Godox external power pack and use others such as a Quantum Turbo. Correct?

its been fixed even on the V1 on recent productions..unless you have one from when it originally released..but I got my V1 two years ago from BHPhoto for example..and I have no issue with that "tint correction"..I think everyone stopped selling the "bad ones" and got rid of the early models..and they only carry the non issue ones now..haha

No ATG's features for over a decade. 1. No ATG Auto2 2. No ATG AF assist beam for mirrorless 3. No ATG built-in 2.4Ghz TTL receiver on secondary flash 4. No ATG TCL Has the ATG's first ever, ATG External Port for ATG/Godox/Quantum battery pack. Now, this is really hurting Profoto, Canon, Sony & Nikon flashes.

@@ldmndz4652 Yes, I've seen the video and yes, I don't really see anything interesting "more professional" about it. I see usb-c and better thermal limits as the only plus, and if you consider the presented photos with fill to be good, you find them ok and would replace the classic bounce work with it, then honestly we probably have nothing to talk about 😉
