democracynow.org - We spend the hour focusing on the Black Panther Party’s legacy of political prisoners in the United States. Perhaps the most famous is Mumia Abu-Jamal, who has regularly been interviewed on Democracy Now! as an award-winning journalist. But there are many others. In fact, two former Black Panthers have already died in prison this year: Abdul Majid in New York and Mondo we Langa in Nebraska. Joining us for our historic roundtable discussion is Sekou Odinga, who helped build the Black Panther Party in New York City and was later involved in the Black Liberation Army. He was convicted in 1984 of charges related to his alleged involvement in the escape of Assata Shakur from prison and a Brink’s armored car robbery. After serving 33 years in state and federal prison, he was released in November 2014.
Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs weekdays on nearly 1,400 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. Watch our livestream 8-9AM ET: democracynow.org

Thank god someone has finally given these fine contributors to our society a voice. I can only imagine the towering metropolitan cities of beauty these men would have built. A country free of crime, high education, and a wealth of knowledge has been kept from the world. If only the white man would let these peaceful souls free.

MrTrenttness I agree with you, America would have lived up to its full potential and would have been the greatest nation in the world if our government leaders would not have been so backwards and such stupid racists. they failed to see the great benefit an organization like the Black Panthers can have on a society...but what did FBI and CIA do instead...? flood their neghboorhoods with Crack Cocaine.

The 1981 Brink's robbery was an armed robbery and three related murders committed on October 20, 1981, by several Black Liberation Army members and four former members of the Weather Underground, who were at the time associated with the May 19th Communist Organization. The plan called for the BLA members - including Kuwasi Balagoon, Mtayari Sundiata, Samuel Brown and Mutulu Shakur - to carry out the robbery, with the M19CO members - David Gilbert, Judith Alice Clark, Kathy Boudin (she dropped off her baby, Chesa Boudin, at a babysitter), and Marilyn Buck - to serve as getaway drivers in switchcars. The conspirators stole $1.6 million in cash from a Brink's armored car at the Nanuet National Bank at Nanuet Mall, in Nanuet, New York, killing a Brink's guard, Peter Paige, seriously wounding Brink's guard Joseph Trombino, and slightly wounding Brink's truck driver guard, James Kelly. *Brinks guards didn't earn min wage but they were not rich. They were hourly workers* . Resisting apprehension during the getaway, the robbers killed two Nyack police officers, Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown, and seriously wounded Police Detective Artie Keenan. any African Govt would have had him killed in 1 day

One day it will be public knowledge that the government had something to do with Tupacs death. Either they did it or had a chance to stop it and just let it happen.

there was nothing the government could do to stop Tupac being killed because Tupac surrounded himself with the wrong people.

Nate Burns, Brinks Truck Robber, killed Brinks Guard Pete Page robbing his truck in Nanuet NY. And two friends of mine. Nyack Police officers Ed O'Grady and Waverly/Chipper Brown. Crime went down on 20 October 1981. He tried to kill three other cops that day. Nice guy. He is a BANK ROBBER! A KILLER! Used stolen M-16's, from a National Guard Armory. Real nice guy. Actually B.L.A. merged with left over Weather Underground and did the crimes.
