Good job Josh, here and on the full podcast :-). I was drawn to her a few years ago by the unhistrionic way she goes about her tennis, which is so refreshing in an age where "big personalities" seem to be de rigeur. It's been fascinating to see how she's been maturing as a person and player (and as an english speaker). I'm sure people might wish that she was more outspoken about things like the war in Ukraine, but presumably that's a tricky path to navigate, when she has family in Russia. Maybe a time will come when it's safer for her to air those views, and we'll get to see more sides of her. Or maybe she'll decide that she's "just" a tennis player, and stick to that. Either way, I wish her well, and hope to see more of that smile, and those subdued celebrations, in the future.

She is absolutely my favourite tennis player since 2020. She so sweet, kind and wonderful human being. That’s for sure! I also like her personality cause when win the point, she never shouts and no weird/ wild celebrations. She is always calm player I’ve ever seen ☺️👍. I’m pretty sure that she’ll win more Grand Slam titles for Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 Congratulations Champion 🏆✨👏👏👏

Love your interview Josh 👍I just learned Elena asked that her bonus from the Kazakstan tennis federation be used to promote the sport and help young players. She also donated some of her prize money for this cause. It doesn't matter the ethnicity or race, talent and inner beauty are things to be appreciated and cherished. She is already a role model.

@@reignwithjoshsmith7520 i just finished listening to the full podcast. Love it too. You have a wonderful platform, hope your audience grows fast. The world we live in now needs more inspiration, more humanity. What makes you stand out from the "news/press conference reporters" is you respect your interviewee's privacy and never ask negative questions (at times I even hear bullying questions during press conferences), you are not going after sensationalism, but human inspiration. In this podcast, it is obvious Elena was very comfortable with the flow of the conversation and what is remarkable is an introverted person opened up to share her sincere emotions and views, and this was so enjoyable. I subscribe to your channel to support you. 👍🙂

A bit of cosmic irony and poetic justice, Rybakina winning as a Russian when almost no Russians were playing - and at a slam where Russians did least well from all the slams. I hope she wins a HC slam, she has it in her to get one. The most likable slam champ in a very long time. Also, angering the British Establishment and all the politically-correct bots who rooted for her opponent just because "she'd make history for the Arab world", as if ethnic considerations are ever a reason to support anyone. She completely spoiled the party and that's why her triumph is even sweeter, because tennis has been poisoned long enough by virtue-signaling sycophants and their dumb and awful politicizing, of all sports not just tennis.
@TheWanderingPensioner
@TheWanderingPensioner Жыл бұрын
So, celebrating her "winning as a Russian" is OK, but celebrating if Jabeur had won as an Arab ... is not OK? I love Rybakina, mostly for her composure and style, and talent, and am so happy she won ... not for Russia, or Kazakhstan, or any group of supporters or critics. I'm just happy she won for herself, and to make her family and friends and coach proud. What she truly feels about being Russian, the war, whether cats and dogs can really be friends ... who knows? ... maybe she'll tell us one day, maybe not. In the meantime, from the outside looking in - she just seems like a real gem.

She didn't win "as a Russian". She made it very clear in her interviews. She is not denying her Russian roots either. @Rrtnns
@Rrtnns Жыл бұрын
@@juanmanuelportillo9293 Read between the lines. Because of all the virtue-signaling lynch-mob lunatics she has to downplay her Russianness. After this whole nonsense blows over, perhaps in a few years, she will be more free to be honest about how she really feels. For the time being she has to pick her words carefully, and that is pretty obvious. The vast majority of Russians are proud of being Russians, I know quite a bit about their mentality and the way they are...

Time will tell how great she is when all the players are present. Wimbledon was reduced to an exhibition tounament and it was full of nothing but senior citizens, wild cards and qualifers. Also, it is about finances. Unless you are Djokovic or Nadal and trying to get another Grand Slam under your belt, you are there for the finances. Otherwise, she would have dropped out like the other players and went on vacation. Enough said.

You actually believe Raducanu's win at a "full slam" was more impressive? Check out the list of opponents Rybakina beat, she had a very tough draw. She beat two slam champs and the no 2 who was the favourite. It's the men's draw that was a joke, with the no 1 missing, with Federer and Thiem absent, Berrettini and Cilic pulling out, Nadal pulling out in the semis and Djokovic having a cakewalk draw worthy of a 250 event. Not so for Rybakina, this was a clean slam win because she faced a bunch of in-form grass experts.
