Would be good if they launch a photography version as well with EVF and small f2 weather sealed primes. People don't buy Fuji X100 or Ricoh GR series for video.

Short but very useful zoom lens. Guessing it would have to be F4-5.6 to maintain compactness. Great part is you can use any other lens too.

Short but consider that it's supposed to start at 18mm all the way to 40mm, and it's a pancake lens, full frame! Consider the Tamron 17-50 f4 and it's huge.

With a super compact pancake prime this could have interested me given that Pana seem to have abandoned compact bodies in M43, but without one even the smallest L-mount combos will still be considerably larger and heavier than my GX850 + 20mm pancake lens (which itself is larger/heavier than a GM1 + 14mm f/2.5!). I'd even go for a 28mm f/4 prime since that would still gather more light than the 14mm f/2.5 which I also use.

Doubt it. That was a trend in the camera market a few year ago, but very few cameras have that now. I can only think of Leica M and Fujifilm GFX 100 among the newer cameras.

Sounds nice, but unless you have worked with an EVFless camera you might want to wait. I have a Leica X, great camera, amazing images, but not having an EVF introduced me to screen glare on sunny days, and having to create compositions at arms length at times. I bought the EVF for it, and it changed how I use the camera - but made it a shade bulky. I had hoped this would have an EVF as it would be a challenger to replace my X when it eventually dies.

@@DS-cf1zc I rarely use the evf so this would work for me. Since this is targeted to the content creator crowd, evf isn’t really necessary for most in that group. Hopefully they come out with a photo-centered version for photographers since this is clearly meant for video

Call me fan boy but the a7cii body from last year is a full frame that is physically smaller than x100vi, with baked in lut and IBIS and 33MP, a full articulated screen and an evf. It can mount all those lenses and many more

External EVF would really make this interesting. Would they leverage the Sigma FP technology? While Panasonic and Leica overlap in a lot of areas, Sigma tends to go their own way, but a Panasonic variant of the Sigma FP would be great.

I owned S1R love it to bit , as good as Leica SL2 . Sold my Leica SL and never look back or regretted . But when I see this camera right away I disappointed because no EVF or OVF . No hand grip slippery and hard to hold if you are using S Pro lens or sigma art as kit lens are not fast lens and may not suit for your shooting style . Also maybe fix lcd made this hard to shoot in strong day light … these are so basic and I don’t understand why Panasonic leave them out , this only made it less compatible to others and not marketable.

@@ductritran8637 They literally made the S9 to be the smallest size possible. Like a Full Frame GM1. However better in the sense that it will have IBIS and imagine the screen would have to rotate being marketed as a Vlogger camera. This would be in a totally different class as an S1. Limited but the tradeoff being extremely tiny body.

Check your sound levels. I have to turn my speakers up in order to hear you. Though the real problem is reaching for knobs and that all the other videos are too loud after adjusting for this one.

I love my Sigma FPL. I’m a huge fan of full frame, compact, interchangeable lens cameras. If this new LUMIX manages to have IBIS and the 61mp full frame sensor. I’d be tempted to switch.

@@andrea_pizzini people are guessing about the 25mp. If you were trying to compete with a popular camera that had a 40mp sensor, which sensor would you choose? IMO a 25mp sensor is superior to a 40mp crop sensor, but I think they know that many consumers are motivated by stats, and own phones that boast 48mp capabilities. IMO if they can launch a compact, retro style, interchangeable lens camera with a 60mp full frame sensor for under $2k, it will really disrupt the industry. And the sensor has been around for years, an eternity in technology time, hard to imagine that the price hasn’t significantly decreased.

Not sure who would want a small FF camera with no EVF? If you want a small camera just take an APSC of M4/3 camera. Plenty of resolution those to display on 32 inch screens or make 1m prints. Needing a big high resolution sensor for what is likely casual shooting makes no sense.

Depends on what you consider cheap. Doubt they can price it higher than the s5ii. Being so small it has to limit features. I'm guessing $1,500 - 1,800 bundled with the new zoom lens. Since you can get an S5ii with a lens for not much more. We'll see though.

Andrea, is there a demand for fixed lens cameras because people want it or did Fuji, among a few, created this demand? If Lumix is successful with the launch of a fixed lens full frame camera, it should put a bit of pressure on Sony to offer a new RX1R. I'm not all that much interested because all my Sony A7CII needs is a good auto focus pancake lens for it. Come on, Sony!

@@johnrpittenger CFe is only needed for very high bitrate video (ProRes, All-I etc.) which this camera probably won't have, same as S5 II non-X. Also SD is a lot cheaper and that's important with this camera. I'd like to see two slots - one full SD and one Micro SD. Not taking much space, but still offer backup if one card fails.

tah for the good news.. on the other hand: I never will use a 4,5-5,6 zoom lens... of course, this S 9 needs Ibis.. in total: although I don't need the EVF, the price is too steep... for a primary to bloggers addressed cam with no possibility to create a proper bookeeh etc. and finally: in 2024 I never will invest in such an expensive camera with only 24 mp;-((((

18 40 1.8? If the 18-40 1.8 lens really appears~ you will find that other lenses are basically useless~ Of course the aperture won’t be that big now ~ I really hope the manufacturer makes a 18 50 1.8 67MM I like the 15 1.7 of the 43 camera very much. I hope Panasonic will make a similar 30 2.5 pancake lens.

It should be compact, so definitely not F1.8. More like F3.5 - 5.6 or something, to make it very compact and very light.

No. Since lens sizes are different between formats, it's hard to calculate. It will probably be F4-5.6 18-40mm, which would probably be close to an F2-2.8 9-20mm size wise on MFT.

@@overnightdelivery the Lumix 8-18 f/2.8-4 might be a good estimate then (2mm wider but 1 stop slower). Definitely not what I would call a pancake lens, which leaves me wondering how they'll put off this 18-40.

@@MrJed_s Yeah to keep it truly compact I think it would have to be more like F5.6- 8. Unless my math sucks. 🙃 But I don't think going from MFT to FF lenses is as easy as doubling the size. I bet it's more like a small zoom size than a 'pancake'. Though I'd personally sacrifice some size for more light anyway.
