Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips acknowledges there is “short-term pressure” on some Royal Family members to be “out and about” in public.
Princess Kate revealed in a video message that a cancer had been uncovered after her abdominal surgery in January.
The Princess of Wales had not been seen publicly since Christmas Day, with Kensington Palace revealing in mid-January the 42-year-old was unlikely to return to royal duties until after Easter.
It follows King Charles’ diagnosis with an undisclosed form of cancer while undergoing a separate procedure to treat an enlarged prostate in January.
The King has cut back on royal duties while he receives outpatient treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
Mr Phillips said everyone has their own different role to play but there has been a lot of pressure on other senior royal members.
“There are other members of the family who are able to support everyone else behind the scenes and in many ways that's equally as important,” he told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.
“But there is definitely … short-term pressure on certain members of the family to be able to continue to be out and about and to be seen and to support.
“And not only just to support organisations, but also conduct the official engagements that need to be done.”
