The Boeing 777X is an incredible machine. Being Boeing's newest jet, it features the latest and greatest innovations that Boeing has to offer. But up to this point, we've largely only seen what it can offer on the outside - it's composite wings, foldable winglets, massive engines, and stretched fuselage.
But at this year's Paris Airshow, Boeing gave me a guided tour of their brand new 777X cabin mockup. And the number of innovations is staggering. So, come along as I show you what you'll experience aboard the 777X when its certified in 2025.

I'd say they have, especially now that the FAA has also been stricter since the 737 max. The first accidents was new software issues that Boeing didn't handle properly, which now is fixed and approved. The latest issue regarding the plug door is still under investigation and that only is a problem on a specific type of the 737 with a special configuration. And no major problems from other Boeing planes, only the 737 max. And only a few of the 737 max. Still a concern but only for a small concentrated type of Boeing planes.

Being a RETIRED 30 year Boeing I worked on the first 1,500 aircraft and doing the interior fitment. Folks JUST REMEMBER that all those beautiful interior ideas will heavily depend what the airline that buys the aircraft has. The thing is the airline makes a choice of the interior as they purchase and provide to Boeing the carpets, seats, galleys, and various other modules and Boing provides the stowage bins, sidewalls with windows and lavs. I don't want to pop to many balloons it is the Arline that makes a choices of the interior.

@@jakezxz1352far be it from me to argue with a supposed Boeing engineer, but I have first hand experience with what he’s talking about. I first rode in an Airbus A380 on an Emirates flight. It was such an amazing experience even in economy that for our honeymoon, my wife and I specifically looked to ride in an Airbus A380 again. We rode Air France this time, and holy shit, it was like night and day. Air France’s A380’s interior just looked like one of those crappy regional airlines with crappy uncomfortable seats, and was surprisingly cramped given the size of the airplane.

@aiv4873

@@jakezxz1352 Yeah but that's exactly what he said. Boeing sets the parameters, like bins, walls, galleys, and space allocation. The airline still gets to pick the carpets, seats, there's like a couple dozen seat makers in the world, the infotainments, and some other features. What he said was right, as a 50 year experienced Boeing engineer, you were very confidently wrong.

Before they let paying passengers fly on this aircraft, they should have an extensive test flight programme and have Boeing board members, senior executives, their penny pinching accountants and their quality assurance people fly on test flights. That would incentivise Boeing to deliver an aircraft that is totally safe unlike the 737 Max death trap.

Very curious about the folding winglets. This video is mainly about the extra space they gained, but in order to add that space while still letting the plane fit into the same airports that supported previous gen 777's, they created the folding mechanism. Pilots will need to unfold the end of each wing after leaving the gate and prior to takeoff, and then fold up after landing as you leave the runway. Hopefully they won't create any unintended consequences.
@aadvantagegold5220
@aadvantagegold5220 4 ай бұрын
Most likely, it will receive a "Takeoff Config" warning when the engines are brought up to power. A T.O. CFG warning requires an immediate abort. As for landing... well, that's what for checklists are for.

@bmused55
@bmused55 4 ай бұрын
The folding wing tips are an aerodynamic aid. Not a critical flight system. IE they do not contribute to the lift the wing generates enough to cause an issue. They are there to basically help the turbulent flow of air from the wing mix with the air the aircraft is passing through, to reduce drag. If the pilots were to accidentally take off with the wing tips still folded up, the only penalty will be fuel burn. Think of them as winglets. Most modern aircraft can fly with or without them. Some even on occasion fly with one missing. Its not a safety concern, just a financial one as the plane will be a smidge more "draggy" and thus use more fuel to get to where it's going
@sam04019491
@sam04019491 4 ай бұрын
They retract automatically after landing below a certain speed (50kts I think). If throttles are advanced to TOGA without them deployed, a warning is triggered.
@aadvantagegold5220
@aadvantagegold5220 4 ай бұрын
@@bmused55 they don’t ever fly with one missing. If one winglet is damaged, they have to replace it or remove the opposing winglet, which also means that critical lights aren’t present. On the split scimitars on the 737, they will remove the bottom strakes if one is damaged.

Interesting design, the gas and air system sounds impressive but I wish to know how much difference does it compare with current 777-300ER. Would also want to see how the bins will look with crew rest compartment above. Would also be interesting to have a look at things like seatbelt signs, reading lights and call bell buttons. Currently in economy of most airline, the call bell button is shared with 3-4 passengers and cannot be turned off by pressing it physically. Would also be nice to see a wider variety of seats on demo in the mock up like the A350 mock up from the other video.

Wow, look at that crazy long cabin! It’s not surprising considering that it’ll be the longest passenger jet ever! That said, it’s not longer than the 747-8I’s cabin because the the 777X’s cabin doesn’t extend into the nose despite the latter being longer than the former. That is if they don’t build the proposed 777-10X which would be even longer still. Let’s just say I feel sorry for anyone who books the very last row seats, that’s just brutal. I was on a 767-400ER along with the A330-300 and their cabins felt like they went on forever, yet the length of 777X puts the length of 767 and A330 to absolute shame!

Welcome to the Boeing 777X!. Inside your goodie bag, you'll find your complimentary wrench! Please use that to fasten pieces of the airplane that may come loose during flight.

If they secure the folding wings like they do the doors, I’m taking a hard pass on this plane for a while.

@bmused55

Likely the same as all the other Boeings and Airbus with similar setups already that have been flying for about a decade. LEDs needs far less maintenance than traditional incandescent lighting.

@@bmused55 yes but these have a lot more LEDs because they're being used for decoration. How much wiring is behind those star panels? How much of a headache will it be to hold up that panel while getting the connector installed?

I think it looks great but personally I don’t care if the cabin feels taller. I think it just makes the buttons and vents harder to reach. I would much rather see innovations in seat comfort and leg room. Things like: - better headrests - slimmer structures and infrastructure under the seats - extendable under-thigh support - better entertainment units

This is all up to the airlines and how they want to configure their aircraft. Not Boeing.
@CodPix

that depends of airline not plane
@itslucien

Most of those are going to be decided by the airlines themselves and what suppliers they choose for upfitting the cabins .
@austinjgregg
@austinjgregg 4 ай бұрын
@@itslucien Honestly didn't realize that. So, Boeing will layout a base cabin but the seats are installed by the airline's choice of supplier/outfitter? That seems strange. I understand that the airlines choose their configurations, but I figured Boeing would outfit the entire cabin based on airlines preferences, and that they could demonstrate innovations in seats as well as the innovations in the overhead bins, lighting, windows, etc.

there is already a large catalogue of seat options available from different manufacturers. They aren’t all directly made by boeing no….and this is good for multiple reasons as it also allows more consistency for the same brand across multiple aircraft types. For example, if I am airline Air Internet, I want all my seats to be the same with the same feature….so I buy brand B of seats that I can use in my entirety of fleet. It’s not strange at all. Every airline has different requirements for their seats depending on what they prefer. Why should they be forced to have the one of the aircraft manufacturer. Think about the different business services. Some want larger seats, some want 2-2-2 layouts with back facing seats…some want 1-2-1, some are totally lie flat, some are lie flat to 90 degrees, some of them have inflatable mats etc. There is a ton of different types without forcing boeing to create 20 seat types just for 1 class. Entertainment units the same thing. They are generally pretty good, there is just a lot of requirements for them that aren’t like normal tablets. There has been a lot of progress. That being said a lot of the things you want…like head rest, leg room etc….. won’t exist anytime soon unless peoples mentality change. The world is going towards the more budget options….people want to fly cheap. They all say they want comfort but they won’t want to spend the extra money….however, you can always buy premium economy and they usually have better seats. Nowadays they are relatively affordable.
