Exclusive: Thomas Markle's Final Interview? A Plea To See His Grandchildren | Good Morning Britain

The last-ever interview Thomas Markle is likely to give. He wants to make a last appeal for reconciliation with Meghan and a chance to meet the grandchildren he so wishes to see before he dies. He would also like it to be part of a process by which the Sussexes also make peace with Harry's father and brother. Thomas, who has recovered his speech following a severe stroke, says that he has shared grandchildren with the King of England for a whole year and neither has seen their grandchildren.
Both he and King Charles have been described as hardworking, shy and grumpy at times, and he is willing to acknowledge the fact this may not have helped solve the situation. But, despite being heartbroken that his daughter failed to make contact or ask about him in the wake of his stroke, he is keen to reach out if only for one conversation - in whichever format she chooses.

I think it is incredibly rude of this male interviewer to keep saying to Thomas, "well you're on death's door, and you'll be dead soon, and you almost died earlier this year." What is wrong with you? Is that how you would want someone addressing your elderly parent?? Where is your professional demeanor??

That brought me to tears. Meghan didn't want the world to see her lovely, but normal, family. They weren't "posh" enough. Meghan did not want to the world to know that her family was normal. My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease several months before my sister's wedding. He walked her up the aisle, with assistance, and he delivered a very short speech. The most loved and important matter was that he was there. SHAME ON YOU MEGHAN MERKEL.

With all due respect Mr. Markle and his oldest daughter (Samantha) went on interview after interview bashing Meghan and Harry for years. M&H only did their documentary 5 years later to tell their story due to all the misconceptions told about them as they sat in silence. As a parent I will protect my children and my peace from anyone regardless of who they are (ei: King or Grandparent). Which is what they're doing and have a right to do... if he wants to restore his relationship with his daughter and see his grandkids he can start by not speaking to the media (press).

Right...he's made some mistakes in life just like everyone else on this planet. He is very well meaning man...all he sacrificed for his kids...if he wanted to adopt me I can guarantee him I'd love up on him like a doting daughter. This is just so cold she isn't wanting to meet so when he does pass there are no regrets. It kills me all I wish I didn't say to my mom when she passed...if Megan has a soul I hope she gets to him before it's too late. But Markle in his life could have given Megan a worse life or a life that didn't involve all the opportunities he's provided her. I come from an affluent famous family and despite my family is weird...I know they loved me a lot. I was adopted because I was an abandoned baby in Asia and my mom came from LA to get me to take me to Canada so.she could work on getting me home in a family

As someone who was raised by an abusive mother, cut ties with her and moved far away from her. When I had a child, I realized that parents make mistakes and I can forgive her, let her meet her grand kid, and responsibly monitor her around him so they can develop a healthy relationship. Megan's doing this out of manipulation. Her father (according to her) only did this one thing wrong. She didn't even bother to check in on him when he was dying.

Many believe he was set up by the paparazzi (by Meghan). There are interviews online with Samantha Markle who explains the situation and why she thinks it happened. Sam is well educated (mental health professional) and very articulate and lays out the facts. Also it seems the letter to her father was leaked to People mag (by Meghan). I believe details came out during a court case in the UK. Looks like Meghan had reasons to try to discredit the Markle family and the Samantha interviews explain it.

She didn't want him at the wedding. He's over weight and she was embarrassed by him. Her mother abandoned her for 6-7 years! Somehow she has managed to forgive that because her mother is black, and Meghan is using that as collateral. He gave/ sold one page of the letter, not the entire 5 pages which Thomas describes as hateful and extremely painful. One person’s behaviour may be the most egregious, but the rest are also part of the poison even if they don’t ( won’t) see it. I never had a relationship with my father because of my mother. I had two children and the last time I spoke to my dad he wanted to see his grandkids before he died. This never happened 6 months later he passed away. For the last 6 years I have lived with this burden and take accountability that I robbed my children of knowing or seeing their pop . Hopefully Thomas gets to see his grand children.

Regret is a heavy burden regardless of whether we are right or wrong in our actions and decisions. And you must have had your reasons that justified your actions at the time. The fact that you now regret it. Means that you have grown in strength of character. And can and will learn from it. And it will make you a better person for the experience. As a parent you have truly learnt that you should absolutely love your children far far more than you dislike/hate the person involved. Please don't put yourself in the same category as this appalling excuse of a woman. She is not capable of feeling what you feel. She will never experience things like regret, empathy, compassion, conscience love, sympathy. She is void of all human emotions other than the ones that are hers. And that applies to every single relationship she has right across the board. She will always come first . And it will always be at the expense of someone else. She will never feel that unconditional love that only a mother is capable of feeling for her child. Who would die in a heartbeat to protect them. She would hold hers up as a shield! That woman is made of titanium And nothing and no one will ever touch her. She won't lose a night's sleep over anyone love including her kids. So please!!!! Give yourself a break and be kind to yourself 💐💐💐

My father passed away from cancer back in 1988 when I was only eight years old. I would give anything to give my father a hug and I always try to send positive energy to dads like Mr. Markle. My father wasn't perfect and he was damaged from his time in World War II. But he was always my hero. No one is perfect.

He could try suing but unless he has a good solid reason other than "I want to see them just cuz I'm the grandpa", he ain't winning that. Besides, if the kids reside in another country with their parents, any attempt at "suing" is almost laughable. Unless the kids are abused or in bad conditions, he must respect her decision, he already had his own children and did as he wanted to when they were young, he doesn't get to decide over other people's children. Megan might be unfair with her decision, or perhaps she has good reasons behind it, honestly, who knows, but that's irrelevant anyway cause these are her kids, not his, and if she doesn't want certain people in their young lives for X or Y reasons, then that's it.

Visitation rights aren't granted without good reason, and just because someone thinks they are entitled to somebody else's children. Grandparents' rights are usually only granted in cases where there is already a pre-existing and strong relationship between the child and the grandparent (which isn't in this case), and if they can prove that ending said relationship can negatively impact the child. So good luck on him winning that one! 👌🏼 In reality, and unless well justified, most of these requests are easy to dismiss/deny because there are laws that actually protect biological parents over any other family member in relation to the child (unless there's abuse, neglect... ect ).

My mother had a stroke at 75. We took her to months of physical and speech therapy. Saw her and other stroke victims doing rehab work. They do work VERY hard to get their brain re-trained with varying success. Too bad all of his offspring weren't involved in helping him.

This is the same father who did a secret deal with a tabloid newspaper for nearly £1m days before the wedding where he posed for pictures shopping for the big day etc. Unfortunately, for him the newspaper used him and then called him a grifter. In fact, the whole Markle clan are red neck grifters who have destroyed Harry's standing as a royal. I'm not a fan of Harry & Megan but I can appreciate they have to make a living to they no get money from the public purse or Charles. As for Thomas, he exploited her behind her back and expects to be treated as if nothing as happened. Thomas also got money for selling letters that Megan had written to him before and after the wedding. A U.K. newspaper had to pay Megan compensation for infringing her privacy.
