From ‘66-‘68 your dad made several trips to Okinawa to visit the wounded from Vietnam that were sent to the army hospital there. My dad was chief ward master there at that time and had the pleasure of escorting him through the hospital. My dad also had the deepest respect for him and how much he cared about the wounded and how much joy he brought them. He lifted their spirits so much that he said all the patients would go on and on about getting to meet him, shake his hand and talk with him one on one for the few short minutes he had available. He was a good man.

My 94 year old mom still watches his movies today. We didn't have a lot of money growing up so we always watched John Wayne Theater on TV. I introduced those DVDs to my kids when they were little. 3 generations of John Wayne fans.

I think their is no greater human being than John Wayne. He was a man to look up to for a kid as we grew up. I was honored to have met him and shake his hand at the Independence Bowl in Shreveporte w, Louisiana, when they gave him the Spirit of Independence Award. He died shortly after that, and it was very hard for me, but he was such a great man, friend, father, and above all a great actor. The world misses Duke. It is apparent when people want all his movies to be shown over and over. God Bless John Wayne.

So do I Debbie and I feel the same way you do. I'm 65 and grew up on John Wayne because my dad was a big John Wayne fan. And I love the westerns and John Wayne was the Best actor making The Westerns and military movies. The Sands of Iwo Jima, the Green Beret. Chisholm was one of my favorites as well as all of the westerns with Maureen O'Hara as his costar. And Angel in the bad man I think is my favorite because I loved and fell in love with Miss Russell. It's shame what happened to her. And I cried when John Wayne passed away. It was like a piece of my heart was missing. So I can understand a little bit about how the family felt. And the reason I felt that way wasn't just because there would be no more John Wayne movies but that we had lost but we felt like was a friend a hero and icon and possibly even a way of living. I still watch the movies that I've collected on DVD till this day. And still collecting more when I can find and afford them.

My stepdad"s very favorite John Wayne movie was "The Quiet Man", although he was always watching his westerns. He was dying from pulmonary fibrosis in a hospital watching his very favorite JW movie, when he slipped into a coma and passed on the next day. So, he enjoyed the very last moments of his life admiring the work of John Wayne.

My dad also was a John Wayne fan here in the UK, in 60s and 70s we'd watch westerns together, of course, John Wayne our favourite, though also loved other greats like Gary Cooper, Henry fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory peck, Robert mitchum, but Mr Wayne was always the best. He took me to the pictures(it's what we'd call the cinema here in UK) to see 'chisum' in 1970,i was 10,takes me back every time I see 'chisum' on TV or dvd, thanks dad for introducing me to John Wayne and all westerns, wonderful childhood memories😢😊❤️

Next to my Dad, who was a very big fan, John Wayne shaped a lot of my youth. I still live by the John Books code. I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid hands on. I don't do these things to others and I won't let them do it to me. He stood for honor and decency. We could use a lot more of him today. p.s. I'm raising my grandsons on his movies. Thanks

Thank you for sharing all these memories with us mr. Ethan...I've been a fan of your father for a lifetime, he's very popular in Italy too. I had the pleasure to watch some of his movies in original language, a good way to make practice in English and a thrill to hear his real voice, after a lot of good dubbing in Italy. I'll never forget your dad for sure; I wouldn't be able to tell what's my favorite movies of his, but I can tell you that Three Godfathers makes me moved a lot every time I watch it, for its religious content. I won't miss to mention Harry Carey jr and Pedro Armendariz, who made great partners to your father in this story, and the great Ward Bond, who made the sheriff. I'm sure that Our Heavenly Father has a special place for all of them in His Houses. Amen

To this very day.... The Duke has more fans than any of today's actors( if you want to call them that) The fact his memory has never dwindled, says how iconic he was! We don't need no stinking academy award to convince his fans how great he was! They give those awards out to just any idiot anyway, talent isn't a prerequisite to obtaining one I've learned.

Since I live in the state of Ohio and am 65 years old, and disabled and living on SSI, I may never be able to visit that museum personally. So this video with Ethan giving us a tour, is so inspiring and wonderful to see. And I'm so thankful that Ethan and those who helped make this Museum and produce this video tour. Mr John Wayne is was and always will be maybe my favorite actor in the world. And he raised a great family as well. I still watch his movies and laugh cry and cheer when they bad guys caught or killed. And Big Jake was one of my favorites as well it's hard to discern which one is the best in my mind as far as favorites because they're all every one of them so adored by myself in public. Because I lived it with them while I watch the movie, I said if I was actually a part of it. And that's how I believe it was meant to be. And also how well the movies were made directed and produced. Not only that but with John Wayne's perfected acting skills, he made every one of his characters so believable. It made it hard to go to the bathroom while watching them. LOL because he didn't want to miss any part of his movies. That's how glued to the TV I was and am. And I think Angel and the bad man in my opinion was one of right at the top of one of the best. Mr John Wayne is always missed in my heart and mind and will be until I pass. God bless you even for doing this and enjoy the ride in the car. 🤠❤🙏🇺🇸

Watching this made be very emotional. Growing up in as small Nevada town, JW movies and westerns are a part of life. My grandfather who was a Navy Seabee in WW2, taught me the way your dad taught you. I was a dreamer, and he let me dream, he fostered my passions, I grew up with a single shot .22 that looked like an old western gun, I was taught to respect guns, people, animals, and the environment, it was everyone's differences that make us all unique. I have been to where his last movie, and one of my most favorite movies was filmed, The Shootist. As a Nevadan, it means a lot that my hero would film his last movie here. For those whom have never seen it, it is a must. I have 1 single framed picture in my home, 1 only. It is of your dad, with his favorite Colt .45 and his Winchester rifle. It is funny how people portray a character in a movie, who is honorable and a good man, and he lived the way he portrayed his characters. One a side note, I even bought a pair of Lucchese Boots a while back, hand tailored to my foot, it was a treat to get them, but, what made the experience unique was, when I was telling the manager I always wanted a pair of high quality cowboy boots, like JW, he said, give me a few minutes. He went into a safe in the office, and came out with a wooden foot mold of JW foot so when he ordered boots, they had his mold of his feet. It was such an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing your dads life with us. I now have a new place to go visit.

Thank you for this I was born in 1980 and I used love sitting with my grandpa watching the Duke. And when I watch then now especially around the holidays I feel like his in the room with me and my tears will start to fall.. one of my favorite is the Quit man... but I love and have seen all his western...

I’m 62 now so I literally grew up watching the Duke even naming my dog after him. I’ve recently moved to Texas from California don’t think I need to explain that one but I will be visiting in the near future. Thank you 🙏

Absolutely loved Mr. Wayne and my love to the whole Wayne family. It was awesome to see Ethan Wayne. Would love to see the exhibit, but do to health issues, I doubt that could happen.

Great documentary and he truly was a man of the people. My father died in 1983 of malenoma. He was a huge John Wayne fan. If it were not for my father, I may not have been as acquainted with John Wayne. The best my father could’ve passed to me. I still watch all his movies. I also did not know this museum was in the Ft Worth Stockyards. I lived there from 1993-2004. I now live in OKC, OK where the Cowboy Hall of Fame is located. Thank you and will always cherish your dad and the contribution you all made to the movie industry.
