I just started training for a marathon 4 weeks ago. I have been pretty sedentary for the last 2 years and started to develop achilles pain which I have been able to reduce due to practicing stretches every night. So then I started to develop knee pain (I seem to be pushing the pain up my leg) 2 weeks ago once I started to run more mileage. I started doing the stretches in this video 2x a week for the last 2 weeks and it's really helped with the knee pain! I was achy a little this morning and did these stretches, and the knee pain went away. Thank you so much for sharing these exercises!

Congrats on your training for a marathon! So amazing! So happy you find these exercises helpful. Aches and pains can move around with running and it's about building your muscles up to the task of increased training each week. Plus working on your form. @@DrMelissaOleson truthfully this is most I've ever done yoga lol. So I'm not sure what specific topic to ask about lol. I started off with you videos for knees since I was dealing with runners knee for two years. And I can't believe I'm now pain free after watching your videos! And I want to tone up my entire body. But especially my abs, back, and arms, so I started looking at your ab videos as well. I have been struggling with tendonitis and carpel tunnel recently so I took a small break, but it seems like the more I do yoga the better my body feels all around. Very grateful I stumbled on your videos while searching, your smile and bright spirit drew me in 💕

Do your exercises help after a knee replacement? I'm afraid of damaging the new joint but its still a bit sore 6 weeks post-op. Thanks for your site!

Great question and it depends everyone is different. These exercises can be helpful after a knee replacement, but I would recommend checking with your doctor to see what you are cleared for first. Keep up the good work 💕

Running my first marathon on 11 Sept. My knees and glutes are still a bit weak. Really keen to incorporate yoga strength training in my run training going forward - any suggestions?

So amazing, congrats on your first marathon! I love yoga strengthening and mobility as a complement to running. Single leg exercises with more dynamic movements like trunk rotation as some of my favs to incorporate for runners. I have this knee pain post running 4 months postpartum and now its 6th month. Still painful.

There could be a number of different things going on, but where I start most often with my clients is the tips in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqujmKRzyNDDZ4E.html Even though the video talks about incontinence the same tips can be applied to knee, hip, or back pain. If you haven't already getting assessed by your local PT can be helpful too! Let me know if you have any questions!

@@DrMelissaOleson Thank you. My PT has identified it as runners knee with acute pain and advised some exc. But my concern is when will my knee be normal. Its been 5 weeks I am working on strength.

@@sapnasohal9077 you want to see progress. It takes some time to build strength, but as long as you are seeing progress along the way. If you are not progressing/having less pain it's looking at what else is going on. Taking a look at your running form & seeing if anything there needs to be addressed. Keep at it!

@@sapnasohal9077 It is good that you are seeing some progress. It is hard for me to say your pain will go away permanently without seeing what's going on, but keep exploring all treatments, exercises, and ways to move your body better. The 2 biggest adjustments I make with my clients is with breathing & posture to make sure their core system is working optimally.
