I had meniscus surgery two weeks ago in Mexicali, Baja California with Dr. Garnier. My physical therapist is booked for three weeks so I’m glad I found this video. I used a cane only one day, and was feeling much better the second day. I have very little discomfort, and have no issues like others are posting here. I am almost 58 years old, and I’m pleasantly surprised I healed this fast. I will do these exercises anyways to strengthen my knee.

Just had meniscus surgery last Friday and wanted to try to do a little bit of movement. Your advice aligned precisely with my orthopedic surgeon and it was really nice to see the actual movements . I also really appreciated how you gave progressive time frames for the activities-like the first couple days you only do this and then these are the exercises/stretches that you do next and then you don’t do these for 10 days or two weeks… That was very helpful because otherwise I might’ve tried to do too much!Thank you for making this! Plus I enjoy how much you two seem to really respect and like each other and the lightheartedness of your videos.👍👍😊

Perfect. We are in the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic and it's suggested we keep our distance from others. I had my surgery about 10 days ago and have been doing some exercises. I've been to the PT dept for other things and know their beds are close together and their waiting room is small so it's too difficult to keep any kind of distance. I'm 73-years old so decided to use your suggestions. BTW, my name is Jim so the video seems personal too!

Got to try this! I had a triple ligament tear in Dec 2018, didn't have my operation till June 2019. Had all 3 ligaments replaced, and meniscus repair, then in Jan 2020 had a kick to my injured knee at work causing further damage to my meniscus. Had an op 3 weeks ago to repair but because it was too damaged, most had to be cut away. Now I'm finding I'm in more pain then before so hopefully this video can help me out! Looking forward to seeing and feeling the results!

I'm only 2 minutes in and I've learnt more than I ever did from my surgeon or the nurses I had a double meniscus tear in nov'17, couldn't see the specialist till june'18 and finally september'19 I've had surgery. I wasn't told AT ALL about elevate and ice, I misunderstood "you need to walk out of the hospital" for "you need to pretend you're normal". I was crying. I spent 4hrs resting but was so terrified of blood clots that 5hrs after surgery I was on my feet doing regular things. It hurt me so much but I thought I had to. Thank you for explaining As Tolerated. Even though my pain was shooting up into the 9s and I was worried I might black out from it I thought because the sharpness would fade back to an 8 that it was "tolerable". 😭 It wasn't until 5 days later when I called up the office about a complication that I learnt about elevate and ice. I thought I just had to push through, grin and bear it. I'm crying now because I wish I knew what as tolerated meant when they told me. (I have endo, I live in constant debilitating pain and have to find a way to function so this felt like nothing different).

I had mine done jan 31st, 2022. I till cant fully extend my leg (95%), nor can i run or jog anymore. Im in construction and it allows me to climb stairs, ladders, and get in and out of lifts all day so its showing improvement but i feel my recovery isnt going to get any better at this point. The only time it gives me discomfort is if im on my knees and when i try to stand up. Occasionally long walks at work or working in the garden will start causing it to ache. I know a few people that had this done and one was good to go after a few months and another said it took him a full year. Hows your recovery going?

I am 48 hours post op. He had to cut out a LOT of it. The tear was pretty bad. The surgeon said I should start doing exercises starting today. My knee feels extremely weak, but I’m determined to start building my muscle back. My situation is pretty catch 22 because I’ve had 2 lower lumbar surgeries (laminectomy and discectomy) which I wouldn’t say “failed” because my pain went from constant 9-10 for 2 years down to a 2-4. Long story short, i tore my meniscus during PT for my back. I am trying to now build my core back so I can try to eliminate as much back pain as I can, as well as build the muscles in my leg so I can strengthen it. My question to you guys is pretty tough to answer: will I have to live in pain the rest of my life? If I can get my leg strength back I can finally rebuild my core which has been immobile for the past 6 mo the because of my knee

I tore both my ACL and meniscus and had to have surgery on the meniscus but I can walk on it it is somewhat healed. Fully healed about two and a half weeks or so but the stiffness and pain during bending or moving at and the fact that it's swollen the size of a softball makes it even harder to bend

Bob and Brad! Your self video was one factor in me finding out I had a meniscus root tear from a fall while hiking. Thank you? I'm a year and a half out from meniscus repair surgery. They even did this tunnel thing that left a small vertical scar under my knee (no acl problem, 35 yo female). I was committed to PT and was in for a YEAR and I still have some pain bending, some clicking and I'm still hesitant to play sports or run. How good/pain free should I expect to be? Is it time to go back for a MRI?

I love your videos! You guys are amazing! Fot the first time, I got a question. My dr is possitive I have a small meniscus tear, and I was wondering if I can add electrodes (TENS kind of technology) to the excercises. Because all the popping/cracking noise really freaks me out haha. I know, weird question.

Hi Doctor, I had an arthroscopy on my knee last Sunday. I feel better walking carefully without crutches. I wonder when I need to start doing my exercises please. Now: 72 hours. Thank you.

I'm now 75 and very active. I had arthroscopy surgery 5 years ago and was successful. Now I am older, stiffening of my legs are now beginning to show. What exercises can I do to strengthen the legs, without damaging the original surgery. Thank you.

I know this video is a year old now, however I wonder do these rehab exercises apply for after a medial posterior meniscus root repair surgery? If so, when would you recommend performing these exercises? When would you think a person could start walking without crutches?

I’m 1 month post op from a lateral bucket handle meniscus repair. The first week was really hard and painful. My best advice is don’t skip even one day on the physical therapy. I’ve been doing it everyday and can fully straighten, my quad is activating, and I’m bending a little past 90. I have a long way to go but getting there 😮

Yeah me too literally 1 month post op too. Do you feel any pain in the knees and are you able to walk without crutches?

@@leeviindombo5830 there’s still pain with certain movements but not a lot like it’s bearable. I had the surgery Nov. 18th and haven’t used crutches in two weeks. I had the bigger brace at first but today got switched to a lighter cloth one. 👍🏼👍🏼

I just had my first stage of 2 stage acl revision. It’s been a day less than 2 weeks since the proceeder and it scares me the lake of information my doctor has provided to recover for the next 3 months before the last step and reconstructing the new acl! I’ve went ahead and scheduled an appointment with my primary so that I can get a referral for physical therapy! The surgeon said he doesn’t believe in physical therapy an thinks I should do it at home but how can I get motivated enough to go to the gym without knowing what Ive gotta do, plus limping into a gym at my age doesn’t seem to desirable😂 the inflation is finally going down and got my stables removed 🤙🏼 I can straighten it out perfectly and bending is at about 35-40 degrees but one I get to that point it’s stiff and hurts like hell. I had a failed acl reconstruction back in 2013 and just want my knee to feel stable and Normal again!!! Any comments questions anything would be mad helpful thanks 🙌🏼🤙🏼
