It’s a little underpowered but a super fun car to drive , reliable and one of the nicest oem kit on a car! Love my IPL and rare to see on the road

Have had a G37S coupe for 3 years now, love it! Perfect reliable daily with some get up. Not F80 M3 fast or W204 C63 AMG fast but I feel like it’s meant to be in between. Went with the OEM+ look and it still gets eyes even in 2023! Reliability is key here since it’s competitor was the 335i and S5 realistically. Great video on shedding light on the hidden IPL line people forgot about!💪🏻

IPL failed bc they didn’t put enough horsepower in it for people to justify the price. I think the IPL badge still sounds great to this day rather than “Red Sport”. While the IPL didn’t crush it on the market, it’s still a reliable, fun and great looking car

I agree with you 100%. There's nothing wrong with the badge IPL, but you have to make it mean something not just tack on a few bells and whistles and think you can compete with amg's and BMW M series

That was the last of the great dynamically sound Infiniti G's. The current generation, despite being faster, definitely isn't near as engaging to drive. However, the latest Q60 was among the most attractive vehicles on the road.

I have owned my ipl for 3 years now. Also have a few more cars, s2000, prelude, fit, and lancer ralliart. The g is very heavy but hella fast and very comfortable for daily driving. This car is a class of its own, just test drive one if you get a chance. Highly recommend.

Not all models got the paddle shifters. If you had any sport related g37 with the S badge in the rear or the XS then you got the paddle shifters. It was only on sport models

I have a 2011 I’ll grey auto for 3 years now. Super reliable, has a dual personality when driving, due to its rev happy Vq. Highly recommend if you see one for sale!

Have a 2013 G37 IPL Convertible Malbec Black with 88K on it. Love the car & features. Best paint on any car I’ve owned. Only issue was replacing spark plugs and ignition coils at 85K, rest just tires, brakes and oil changes. Many complements and let me know when you want to sell it.

I own a 2015 Q60S with the G37 body style and I have people asking me all the time why I rebadged my G37. People are ignorant. LOL I also track my Q. It's the most comfortable race car on the track, lol. The only mod I have done is switched out the exhaust system to an ARK. She is a blast to drive and it will be really hard to give her up when it's time.

I had a 2011 IPL G37 coupe grey with red interior. Unfortunately automatic 😕. Long story short I've owned 4 G coupes that G37 ipl was my 2nd.so I got it in 2018 they wanted $20000 for it I ended up going back-and-forth with the guy for about a month and he settled for 9000 with 48k miles only and it was one of the best driving infinities I've ever owned Extremely fast for a G Especially after I upgraded the exhaust and intakes and you can take big curves like at 100 miles an hour no problem

Since inception I have only seen 1 actual IPL this was back in 2011. This was Infiniti's attempt at the Lexus "F" cars IMO. Unfortunately IPL didn't stick around.

If they put in a supercharger from the factory in the IPL models and cut some weight, it would be a near perfect car; I def would have bought one over my current Q60. (still love it but no manual...)

I've got a G37 I need to replace ... deer collision and insurance is totaling the car. Sad for me as I've owned it since it was new and I dropped $3000 on it last year for an engine oil gasket and full tune-up plus catalytic converters. Question: What is the best Infnity to replace it with?

I think they should’ve taken the 4.0L crank shaft in the frontier, xterra and pathfinder and put in in the IPL. Some weight drop and maybe it could’ve done some damage.

G37xS (AWD, not IPL) 0-60 4.9 sec. Q60 (AWD, Red Sport) 0-60 4.5 sec.

Infiniti messed up, bigly!! That was a good opportunity to a small turbo or two under the hood. I was a big G fan, we've had 4. The manual sedan was more balanced than the manual coupe. And you're right, '15 Q50S still has the 3.7 VQ engine. We still have that one

Still think the g37 hit the right market it was middle class coupe. Motor and transmission is/was reliable. Good after market support if your into that and won't break the bank for a daily abuser. Still no Lexus but I mean.....who is lol

Ofc a failure - the fact Infiniti is a dead brand kinda says it all. So ridiculous, if you think about it, all they had to do on M & FX was to update the interior and they would've still been around... Damn you Nissan! I'm fine with "IPL" branding - again, the naming is not the problem here... Q50 had 3.7 in 2014-15 m.y. I would buy it used. In fact, I regret so much selling my M37 that I'm considering finding a good Q70. Especially the hybrid - had one in my area, almost bought it, but it wasn't in good condition and with light interior... BTW Q50/60 don't have cooled seats TILL THIS DAY!

Hybrid Infiniti M37 dude it's cost an arm and leg to replace the hybrid battery. I almost bought one to but the cost of the hybrid battery replacement keep me away. I really want the Infiniti M56S black in black.

@@kempowarrior my hope is to be able to replace the battery modules with something better, not specific for the exact assembly. Cuz in theory it's just a battery and a very small one. But yeah, 1k per 1/12 modules is ridiculous. That's why these cars are so cheap. I almost bought one from CarMax and the catch there was to take their warranty and get it to Infiniti dealer for diagnostics or replacement as you would only pay a fixed deductible. Return it and get money back if nay. Looking for 5.6s as well, you better not be in Texas area, bro!)

I agree with you, the IPL was a total failure, even the Nismo is mostly cosmetic with a bit of extra power. The Japanese need to learn that to make a performance line it needs to be at least 100-hps and 100-lbft more than their sportiest trim, and give it a better name, e.g. SP (Sport Performance) and they would've had the G37S given a bit more power than the regular G37, and then the G37SP to be the big boy, and put that directly to compete with the M3 and C63 with matching or exceeding powers. And you're right their current Red Sport is stupid too, they couldn't call it RS because of Audi's trade mark, but there are so many other catchy names they've could've come up with, but I guess they ran out of terms. I have the same feeling with the Lexus F lines, e.g. the GSF should've just been called GS500 and aline itself with the BMW550, E550, I think it would've been better understood and received. They put the same engine in the LC500 and that contradicted what is the real meaning of an F line then, is the GSF not a full F? complete mess, they're not learning.

I wonder how much Infiniti/Acura/Lexus were spooked back in 2009/10 by all the turbo problems with BMW. Everyone raved about the 335i n54 back in 2007. But just 2 years later everyone was talking about all the problems. And I believe helped damage Bimmer's reputation into the next generation F series.

Should have had their own name, and I wouldn’t have gone with IPL. They were trying to grab notoriety from racing, but it just wasn’t great. They should have gone to Chrysler for a name! How great are SuperBee, or Hellcat, or, Demon!

I love the G35 and G37 but the G37 IPL Coupe was total failure because it's didn't have enough horsepower over the base and sport G37 to have it own name. It has about 18 more horsepower then the regular G37 coupe. Which is not much. The G37 IPL Coupe should've had 380 hp.

I don't think they could have gotten to 380hp without turbo or adding significantly to the cost of engine development. I always viewed the IPL as more of an "is" or zhp type of upgrade. For just a few $k more than a fully loaded G37s you got a lot of upgrades (hp, wheels, spoilers, exhaust, etc).

I drove a Infiniti Q60 I'll convertible manual to test drive. I didn't enjoy the cramped pedal box and high travel clutch pedal. Engine and exhaust sounded good. But it was pretty noisy inside honestly and had lots of creaks and rattles from the retractable hard top.

I have a 2010 G37XS anniversary edition. So with my Z1 touring cat back upgrade and the long tube cold air intakes and maybe just a lvl 1 tune and my car should be putting out more than the IPL

IPL sounds horrible for the US and EU market. Infinity lost their direction at this point they should go full electric before Genesis, Lexus, Acura and others dominate that market.

Two-time Infiniti coupe owner here, I have a theory as to why the IPL series never took off: there was actually nothing else offered from Infiniti at that time that would have benefit from the IPL treatment. The QX70, G sedan, Q40, and Q50 got their own S versions, so IPL treatment would have been moot. Plus IMHO, Infiniti sport peaked in 2015; styling and capacity stalled after that. Also when you consider the fact that the G37/Q60 basically stayed the same in terms of interior setup and trim material, Infiniti basically put their own foot in the grave, by staying their course.
