Die Mega-Serie "Babylon Berlin" startet am 13. Oktober auf Sky und wird 2018 im Ersten gezeigt. Wir haben die Hauptdarsteller Liv Lisa Fries und Volker Bruch interviewt und sprachen mit den Regisseuren Tom Tykwer, Henk Handloegten und Achim von Borries.

Yes it was. There are times when Volker Bruce looks like Buster Keaton (esp when dancing). His face looks as if it’s from the late 20s/early 30s.

Ich liebs wie Volker Bruch immer so abwesend wirkt während der Interviewer die Fragen stellt, als ob er gar nicht zuhören würde, aber dann antwortet er so ausführlich und clever dass es einem richtig überrascht.

Da haben sich aber wirklich mal die deutschen Serienmacher übertroffen. Hätte ich nie für möglich gehalten, daß eine deutsche Serie mal auf internationalem Niveau spielt. Tolle Schauspieler, tolle Requisiten.

I love all things Babylon Berlin. However, I wish I could speak German so I could enjoy the interviews with the players. Great show, and I hope it lasts for years to come.

Unfortunately the questions were pretty simple minded, (not necessarily the answers) there could have been done a much better reflexion on the making of the series....

Yes, me too...I know just enough German to get confused trying to listen- I need to just read the captions and stop trying! And of course season three is in the works and should be filming just about now, so let's hope it goes for a long time; most of my favorite series seem to be cursed and cancelled too soon! :-(

Has anyone heard any news on season three of BB? I think it was reported as far back as in June that production would commence in Oct 2018. I've been Googling almost daily the past two months, searching for anything new regarding S3 production, possible release dates, teasers, anything. There's absolutely nothing out there! Have things been delayed or pushed back? Is Twyker and Co. keeping everything quiet? It's driving me crazy! I'm expecting a little bit of a wait til S3 reaches the US. I've just found it odd that there is nothing in the media, especially considering how successful the first run was. Season one and two dropped a year ago at this time. Most tv shows stick to the same release schedule annually. I'm not sure why BB hasn't stuck with that format, especially considering the competition that exsists with so many different shows being constantly wheeled out by every channel and streaming site imaginable

I feel like more foreign actors have a well-rounded talent pool. I agree they are great dancers. It surprised me 😂

@@WoWGirl6 I think you’re right, esp German ones. Tom Tykwer composes the music for all of his films (apart from one). I’ve seen other German actors who are musicians and singers as well. I guess it helps when they’re not acting. I also think that there’s a refreshing lack of self consciousness around dancing as well. I can’t imagine this being the case with English or American actors set in a similar time period.

Was für schwache Fragen. "Wer war verantwortlich für die Gewinnung des Alex als Drehort?" oder auch bei den Hauptdarstellern "Welche Szene war besonders anstrengend?"

Die ersten beiden Staffeln sind bisher das Beste, was ich von den öffentlich-rechtlichen Sendern bisher gesehen habe! Lob den 3 wunderbaren Regisseuren, den Ausstattern, den grandiosen Schauspielerinnen und Schauspielern! Ich bin total beeindruckt und begeistert, freue mich auf die 3.Staffel. Im Interview wirken Fries und Bruch leider sehr unsicher und gehemmt, wenig unterhaltsam.

Why does Charlotte Ritter in episode 2 ask Gereon if he is from the Middle Ages when she hears his name and he replies no I am from Cologne...? Bit mystifying can someone explain it to a non German

bill bogg Gereon is/was a name, that was widelyspread in medieval Germany. Berlin at that time was a big city . I think there lived about 2 million people at that time. Cologne on the other side wasn't that big as Berlin was. Now you're asking yourself: "Why is he telling me such 'useless' information?" With these backround knowledge, you will understand why she asked ,if he(Gereon Rath) is from the middle age... Berlin was a modern, a "new", a "big" city , that hadn't these old Names, because there are "modern" etc. She asked this ironically. He knew what she meant... She wanted to know where he's coming from. I hope it was helpful and sorry for any mistakes, I'm just into learning the language

Gereon is a catholic saint from the 7th century if I recall correctly. Cologne was his home and the name stuck around that area for a long time. A comparative case is someone named Gideon. It's old fashioned and uncommon.

It is not a name I have ever heard in the UK unlike Gideon . From internet search It looks as if it may be slightly known in Germany and France .

Man, I guess the BB hype has subsided. Must have been flash in the pan. Everyone's attention returns to zombies and biker gangs. Woo hoo. Apparently medieval fantasy land is more interesting.
