Okay I just read a few comments and people are either only saying that the reason why Exo cameback with 8 members with Kokobop is because Lay was only focusing on his solo album or SM is trying to get rid of him... As a hard core Exo-l, I am here to say that y'all got it all wrong. I mean, yes!! Lay was working on his solo album BUT the other big MAIN REASON why he didn't join the members this comeback was BECAUSE of the POLITICAL ISSUES between China & South Korea (y'all should look into it when u have the time). Anything related to Korea was banned in China for almost the whole year of 2017, meaning kpop artists wouldn't be able to have concerts in China, etc. It was a BIG issue. And SM, Idk why some people are saying that they are trying to get rid of Lay because that is obviously ridiculous. Lay brings in soooo much money from China. And all that time he wasn't with his members, he was making money in China. Also, if Lay were to talk about Exo or promote with them during the whole political issue, then his own country would think he "betrayed" his own people. And Lay is an ambassador for China. He is not gonna disappoint his own country. And SM is not that stupid to let him go.. Sorry if this was too long, I just wanted to inform some people on the info they are giving out. Oh and nice reaction, you guys reactions were really genuine. Hope u react more to Exo in the future.

EXO has 9 members (originally had 12 when they were first formed in 2011) but at the time of this comeback, Yixing (Lay) was doing solo work in China so he wasn't in MVs or performance from this comeback

Fyi, artists from Big Hit or JYP usually have subtitles. Artists from SM or YG most likely won't have subtitles. If you do a simple KZfaq search for the mv with eng sub, you can usually find a translated version of the mv.

To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012 and from the very beginning EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with super powers to protect the Tree of Life. Each of the members has a super power that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch their debut song "Mama" and you need to watch both the K and the M version of "MAMA," not just the K version, because even though both the K and M versions of "Mama" feature all 12 of the members, the K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the M version focuses on the M members and their powers. Plus, this is a good opportunity for you to hear what the song sounds like in both Mandarin and Korean. However, since then 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions where the group is split up, but they still produce all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. Their fandom name is EXO-L because L falls right between K and M and I like to think it stands for Love. 😍 The MV for Ko Ko Bop can be explained two different ways. On the surface yes it looks like Ko Ko Bop is a drug that they all are taking and they are all high and everything that is happening is a product of how the drug is affecting them. However, if you keep in mind that everyone in EXO is an alien and has special powers, you can explain everything in the MV by the fact that they are all just experimenting with their powers. This is how SM explains the MV saying the story in this MV is EXO when they first came to Earth and its them experimenting with how to use their powers. So, as in every one of their MVs, the members use their powers as part of the MV's story. Also just so you know, Ko Ko Bop has only 8 members in it -- Lay is not in this MV or in any of EXO's recent comebacks since this -- because, long story short, he is busy in China with solo activities and decided to sit out their most recent activities as a group. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs here is a list of the members and what their special power is. The members powers are: EXO-K Suho : water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO,? That's why as the leader of EXO, Kim Jun Myeo's stage name is Suho) Baekhyun : Light Chanyeol : fire D.O : earth (dirt) which gives him strength Kai : teleportation (He is the guy with the abs in this MV.) Sehun : Wind EXO-M Xiumin : snow/ice (frost) Lay : healing Chen : thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M) The Chinese members that are no longer part of the group: Kris: Flight (He was the leader of EXO-M when they used to promote as two separate groups.) Luhan: telekinesis (control things with his mind) Tao: Controlling time

EXO is actually 9 members but one (Lay) is doing solo work right now in China. You should watch other EXO videos like 'Power', 'Lucky One' or 'Growl'. Growl was done in one take and as all the original 12 members.
