I think Miracles in December surprises most people because in other cultures, whether you're from North America, Europe or even Africa, Christmas songs are usually upbeat and corny and don't have much meaning beyond putting you in a good mood. In certain parts of Asia, South Korea especially, Christmas is actually a lovers holiday. People don't spend it with their families opening presents and drinking hot beverages, they go on dates, propose to their girlfriends, etc. That's why EXO tends to release ballads and love songs for Christmas. Not only does it allow them to profit from the period, but it allows them to showcase their vocals.

This is just the short version or Lightsaber. There’s a longer one in EXODUS album I believe and all 9 of them SANG it.

I go through them one by one. 1. The Eve: legendary choreo! And the song itself is such a banger! Its a b-side from their 4th album The War, which is actually (in the repackage version) my favourite album from EXO. 2. History: it was their pre-debut song together with What is Love. They choosed so different songs to show the range that EXO can do. 3. Miracles in December: i am NOT a ballad person, but EXO ballads are something else! When Kyungsoo, Jongdae and Baekhyun get together and sing such an amazing song, i tear up. Just from their sheer vocal talent

EXO’s Universe is not only my favorite EXO song but one of my all time favorite songs ever. It’s the title track from one of their winter albums but it’s absolutely breathtaking. Vocally, visually, everything about it is perfect. I couldn’t recommend more!!

EXO releases winter albums to thank exols each year and a portion of the sales went to charity. Their winter albums weren't meant to be promoted as a regular comeback rather just a special gift but those albums charted anyway lmao Before MID, antis were targeting EXO's vocal line for not delivering vocal based performances which was insane lol this went on until EXO dropped MID, a ballad and vocal line based title track which shut all the antis off lol not to mention, MID album carried their most popular winter song The First Snow, i think you already saw Haechan and Mark cover this with Mark playing the acoustic guitar very briefly in one of the guides.
