I'm moving to Merida in early 2021 and can't wait to experience this wonderful city. I know it's HOTT but so is my home state. I will be renting and doing the 180 day stay then check in to get my passport stamped and BRB in MX.

Join the club. These past 4 years have been just horrible in the USA..and I'm afraid it's only going to get worst. I have never seen so much hatred, racism and homophobia in my life. I can't wait to visit Merida again and see what good real estate I can find. It truly is the most amazing city in all of Mexico..and was rated as "The best city in the world" by travel magazines.

Sounds like 400k would buy a very nice home in Merida or parts of the Yucatan., much better price than a desireable part of US like Florida or Texas. We are considering moving there from the US.

Talking about weather from october to march is HEAVEN in Mérida and in all of the Yucatan, including the beaches... But in april-may-june is hot as hell... From july to september some rains and "sea winds" come in and make the weather a little more bearable. So if I could, I would chose a colder destination to escape from here those 3 months (april, may and june).

Wow That's wonderful. I hope that this industrial delay in Mexico will be forever and industrialized food. Always be more expensive than natural or organic products. I think that will be it. Because every time. that an industrial company tries to build itself. It faces a lot of social resistance.

Please interview someone about getting set up. Like banking, how to move your money to mexico, basically how to get started.

I'd be scared to leave the house for 3 months... someone would probably break in. I'm looking at queretaro on the north side. less than an hour to san miguel if you want the fancy colonial feel, and queretaro has a nice downtown. only thing I'd miss is the seafood but its too hot for me there so I think that would always be a visit for some super fresh seafood.
@craiggallup57065 жыл бұрын
Do you mean in the suburbs north of the city or the northern part of the city? I totally agree Merida is too freakin' hot and humid and it will probably be getting even hotter.
@Nightbird.3 жыл бұрын
@@craiggallup5706 Like in any other warm climate..most people spend their time indoors in air conditioning and prefer to venture out in the cooler mornings or evenings. But after a while you get used to it and learn that body powder is your best friend..lol. Honestly there is so much to do and such good food there it's worth it.

you get used to it, it is very cheap to have a/c and a pool, and also you change your lifestyle, take a nap during the hottest hours of the day wich is usually from 1 to 4 pm

nice man. some excellent points. expats r immigrants essentially guests in a foreign country and should consider learning the language as a basic task. Being able to mix more effectively with the locals and the Mexican way of life. I see some try to impose the American lifestyle which imo does not make sense.
