After Mario and Last of Us, video game movies and TV adaptations are FINALLY not sucking butt, Fallout did not disappoint and as a fan of the games I had a great time watching although wished there was more episodes to binge.

I'm on episode 7 and I will say... Although I'm probably biased bc I love Fallout and Bethesda so...I do feel like this was one of the best game to film/TV adaptations I've ever seen. They really did respect the games while bringing this story to life. I can't wait to finish but I'll be sad when it's over... hopefully they greenlight a season 2

As massive Fallout 4 fan I was the same, I was really trying not to be biased and be objective. The production design and level of detail was pretty insane. Goggins is so good as Coop/The Ghoul. Ella did a great job playing Lucy, going from wide-eyed naive vault-dweller to a competent woman in an insane world. I didn't like Maximus much, it seem like the writers were determined to make him weak and cowardly, I really wanted him to grow up and act like a real man. He does some pretty evil shit too, which he's easily forgiven for, and even promoted. I found him very annoying at times.

I really liked Maximus and the acting for the character, he’s got everything he needs to be charming and charismatic but because of how his life has gone he lacks the social skills and I think that the actor portrayed how introverted and kind of socially unaware he is perfectly

The amount of people I've read typing about how the dialogue written for him and Lucy is bad is wild. They're both sheltered people who very obviously don't know how to properly socialize.

I noticed that they forgot the flashlight on the pipboy or the headlamp on the power armor on many occasions... Particularly on the fight scene at the end. Loved the show, waiting for season 2!

People are forgetting that in fallout 3 that version of the brotherhood decided to be decent people and help everyone that they came across. The brotherhood in New Vegas And 4 are how they really are portrayed That's them everyday of the weekend.

After Lions and his daughter died, Maximus took over His policy is to strictly kill muties on sight and take technologies and indoctrinate wastelanders into their militia. They don't help people. They take them in to boost their numbers for their goals.

You need a Pip boy to use V.A.T.S. It stands for Vault-Tec assisted targeting system and is a targeting system that's integrated in a Pip boy so Lucy can already use V.A.T.S and I think it is represented by her marksmanship skills in the show.

I tried Fallout back in my PS3 days. I didn't understand anything, got lost, it was confusing. I uninstalled, and went back my go-to games. I don't have cable tv, and no netflix, so i just stream my shows. I feel like I would lose all context if I watched this show, so I hope you all enjoy it. I’m 3 episodes in and I’m in love with this show as a fallout fan. The CGI so far has been gorgous and I’ve been invested in every character’s story thus far. My friends and I were jokingly speculating when the brother leaves the vault he’ll come across the remnants of the legion and become the new Caesar as he adopts lots of his mindset.

From what I remember even in the games it’s heavily implied that vault tec did play a massive part in making sure the Great War happened. Obviously never mentioned as blatantly as it was in the show but even before the show it was pretty much cannon in my head the vault tec caused the Great War.

Maximus as a character is a scared child. The brotherhood even tells him hes weak and he cries and pleads that he doesnt want to be. Hes just scared at all times. I think that explains why he comes across as a flat 2 dimensional character. Hes just scared and angry at all times. At least for the first while.

There's definitely VATS in the (first episode? or second) show. Also in the games, you need to read all the terminals and it's very strongly hinted in Fallout 4, in the Vault-Tec headquarters in Boston from memory, that Vault-Tec didn't actually DROP the bombs, they worked behind the scenes to create propaganda and fear that led to the war. Again, it's been a while, so I may be wrong(ish). Maximus as a BoS character was VERY weak for me, the acting was ok, but the writing of the character seemed very "modern sensibilities", where we can't have a strong, capable brave man. So yeah, I consider that to Woke. Ella did a great job as Lucy, and Goggins as Coop/The Ghoul was brilliantly written and acted.

4 episodes in so far. I loved the first 2 the 3rd was not as fun but by the end of the 4th I was cheering again. Ive only been let down by a single moment. When Maximus is outside the cave I know I heard a super mutant hound and I was excited to see the first super mutant but that wasnt what was in the cave. For someone like me who still plays, is playing Fallout 4 its been incredibly faithful to the series while still adding their own flavor and story to it. I heard some minor complaints about the power armor changes but for me I play this still because I use mods so something like that still fits the game in my mind.

When the Titus latches onto the vertibird to drop down, it made sense considering he was carrying Maximus. Although the power armor could withstand the fall, Maximus would have been broken and concussed. That was one major issue I saw, but it made sense to me.

I agree that the fallout series is wonderful. And I agree that the formula of a series continuation rather than a videogame adaptation is better for fans. I just felt weird about the comment on the last of us casting, which is something I hear a lot: "fictional character A belongs to demographic A, so you shouldn't cast someone from demographic B to play them" This has always seemed funny to me considering that is literally the point of acting, to pretend to be someone else. People recognize characters by archetypes, not by appearance. That's why theater has been around for so long. I had no problem understanding who was who in the last of us because I was already familiar with the relationships that the characters had. For instance, let's pretend you're watching the new Half Life movie. On screen you see a quiet person in a big metal suit wearing glasses and saving scientists. It doesn't matter who the actor is, you'd be able to guess that it's Gordon Freeman. I think that people who complain about casting just because they don't like how a person looks don't actually care about the film itself. On the other hand, an actor could be the spitting image of a vodeogame character, but if they can't play the part well I'd rather have somebody who can play the part even if they look completely different.

Watched the whole show. Found it mediocre. Walton Goggins is clearly the stand out actor. They also captured the wasteland environment down to a tee except the the ghouls - who looked like they were in Halloween dress-up. However, I didn't find the main characters, especially Maximus or Lucy particularly compelling or credible. Strangely, I found Lucy's brother one of the more believable characters in the entire thing.

I was so pissed off at first when i learned the ncr is a bunch of ragtag militiamen in the story, but i remembered the lore, how the nation was being corrupted and how it elwas stretching itself thin, and it made more sense why they'd be in the position theyre in

Even in New Vegas, they were stretched very thin, mostly having to focus on the Dam, but having to leave towns like Primm under the protection of a single NCR unit who couldn't push back the raiders.

Just finished it and I have to say this is a textbook example of what video game adaptations should be. You shouldn't do something with a set story. It's too hard to make it work for new and existing fans alike. It can work but it requires the source material to already have a certain narrative flow, such as the last of us whose story narratively works just as a film or shows does. I think this works better because they took the existing world and told a new story. They decide to fully remove this version of the fallout story from the games version. This isn't the fallout world we know it as. However, because they chose to completely alter the story, while using the setting and the world building and a loose interpretation of the lore. They were able to make a narratively complete story that has all of the mystery for fans and new viewers alike. I was honestly on the edge of my seat trying to use my pre-existing knowledge to figure out the twist before the final episode, but I didn't really figure it out fully until at least episode 6 when it really starts to get opened up to the viewer. The humor I think is the main highlight, it's incredibly zany and so fallout. The crazy doctor feels like a recurring NPC, I can just hear the pipboy notification saying "you have become partially ghoulified" after the doctor heals thr Initiate. That's a plus 2 to rad resistance and a healing factor, at least till the poor souls brain rots from the inside 😂. The cliffhanger genuinely had me excited for more. The entire time I felt so weird and uncomfortable about it, about how the lore was changed. The fact that the NCR went from a massive post apocalyptic nation state, to a town of 35000 people was odd. However, the way it fits into the story was actually interesting. I'm interested to see the future of this world. In fact I'd say I'm excited about it. I wanna sit down and binge play this fallout game for hours. I think that's what makes it work. It's not fallout as I knew it, but that's okay. It's still certainly fallout the way I like it. I think that is the greatest praise I can give. I'm excited to see if it wins any awards because the actors did some outstanding work, so did the prop and effects departments.

I really loved the show and binged it. I wished there was a lot more also. At first when i found out the main star was a female i had a split second worry they might try some "woke" stuff but i ended up really liking her. This show was way more dark then i ever imagined and noticed in the games. In fact she turned out to be my fav. i noticed most people seemed Maximus was their favorite, and i admit i did like him but Lucy did an amazing job from starting as a literal life long sheltered person forced into the horrors of just about every human atrocity possible.

I was the same, it was definitely and deliberately "diverse", and had a few "woke" moments, but overall they kept it in check. I didn't like Maximus at all. Walter Goggins was my favourite, he was awesome. Ella plays Lucy very well, the very self aware montage at the start of her getting training in fighting, weapons and combat was VERY deliberate to avoid the same criticism of Rey in Star Wars.

Aliens, Terminator, and Underworld came out and no one batted an eye at the strong female roles. Going with a Vault girl for the story was a good choice in my opinion. The most woke-ish parts were things like Moldaver saying "Communist is just the word they use to describe people who aren't insane". Every single capitalist, trader, or store owner encountered in the show was portrayed as evil or corrupt. And commune style living were the only places that had any semblence of peace and good will.

The first few episodes were a hot mess, then it became good only to drop the ball again in the finale. 6/10, easter eggs will keep the fans buzzing but doesn't really offer much to non-gamers.

I liked the bit where the Ghoul forgot there was a weakness in the power armor in Filly so a big fight could happen. And when Lucy got a new finger so she could have her organs removed. And when NCRs acted like raiders and then lectured Lucy on how bad her dad was. And Maximus being completely inconsistent, letting others die, ignoring Lucy, but also a good man who I totally didn’t hope every episode a bullet would take him off the screen. And how the really obvious gags would have to play out for a really long time so that they went from being unfunny to make-it-stop.

EDPISODE 1 - The Raider "Girl boss", wasn't convincing, wasn't scary and had zero charisma, a completely forgettable character. Villains are supposed to be a threat, menacing or something more than her character. She didn't have any qualities that would make me think she isn't just some Bad Girl Mary Sue with more hubris than any sort of ability to be a villain. The Brotherhood storyline doesn't fit either.. A Brotherhood Knight that is a crybaby in power armor..?? Nope.. Genderless looking girl with moustache best friend.. NOPE... It had better get Better... Or it's Rings of Power treatment for this show.

So you got the "woke" explanation wrong. The right wing people think something is woke because someone would put a character or portray an event that would down punch the opposite sex or an entire race to make a point or statement for the sake of making a point or a statement. THIS SHOW dose not do that in any way but instead shows a good story despite if they are a woman or black. The same goes with "The last of us", that shit is not at all woke BUT instead tells us a good story without pushing something down the viewers throat. I mean the "Gay scenes" actually looked and felt natural AND it was already in the games lore to begin with.

I find it odd how supprised you are that the brotherhood is like the us military, do you not know the lore? The brotherhood is the remnants of the military, like how the enclave is the remnants of the US government

Groups of the US military in fallout found out that the war is fabricated and that they are being used, so when the brombs dropped the military was ready to hide out. The enclave hide in special vaults with no experiments and other secure governmental bunkers. But you are wrong mate, governments and military can be one but they can be separate too. The British military for example doesn’t serve its government, they serve the royal family. Like in the USA the US Military swears its oath to the constitution making them a separate entity from the government but that entity works for the government, in the UK the military doesn’t serve its government it serves the king or queen. With fallout it’s alternative history, and in that alt history they have the military detach from the government because they learned to truth, just too late.

On episode 7 and no. Not woke. Diversity, yes. Diversity is fine when it makes sense to the story and it makes sense here. It's not political, either. At worst, it has no direction. At best, a true adaptation!

Well, she is trained in wrestling and shooting among many technical skills. Combine that with Fallout medicine and theres quire alot one can do. She still gets smashed around quite a bit against larger opponents.

1. No, it isn't faithful and Bethesda has never had any respect for Fallout lore. Heck, they don't even respect the lore in Elder Scrolls and they created the freakin' thing 2. Expectations high? Why? It's Amazon and their shows have ranged from meh to really bad, for the most part. Also the show creator was behind the Westworld disaster. Right now a lot of the buzz this show is getting is coming from "I like Fallout product so Fallout tv must be gud" side of the interent. The same happened with The Witcher. Give it another season or two. Suddenly people will realize how bad this show is.

I think it’s more woke not from the protagonist point of view. But from the fact they used a supporting character for the bos who can’t even decide their gender. And so I’m meant to believe people are you to try and be men or try and be women when their not when they’re fighting for their lives in the wasteland. I think not. I can tell your a girl dane
