This engine is a bit of mind blowing.. For the less advanced between us, relaxation, structure, syncing and coordination together produces a good engine which also takes years to get right... One of the thing I can see in the video is that you are changing the angle of your force which breaks the structure and force of the opponent..

I like it when you describe that process as a never ending path by mentioning your very high level instructors. It is true! Think about Yukiyoshi Sagawa (1902-1998) who was an absolute internal monster and was still progressing in his nineties!

The video is amazing as always! I have a question... There are sifus and practictionaires who say that if you do weight training/strength training because you like it...or you like to be in shape or to have a natural muscular physique...or even just for the health benefits of that type of training...you can't practice internal arts, because you can't abandon the use of physical force and certainly you can't achieve the higher levels in the internal arts. Honestly, I disagree…they are probably opposites, but they are two different things. But obviously, I’m ignorant on the internal arts…so I could be wrong. Can you make a video on this topic? I saw a lot of people interested on this matter, it would be very useful for a lot of people like me. Thank you very much Sifu Sergio!

I have some questions about this? Using ging Can you do push ups, pull ups...? Or is that you control the body of the person? Where do you put the mind? On the person's body? Is this like mesmerism? You can freeze a person without the sinking of the body of the person?

Sifu Sergio, watch you demonstrate and explain seems like a clever usage of the total body structure, relaxed more on periphery and with controlled tension more in the center of the body. I imagine, that the attention is put more on the center of own body than on the point of contact with partner/oponent. Is that correct?

You nailed it. There are some more details to it but it is not mistycal chi. It is the turning external forci into chi type of explanation that is misleading. And that is why it takes 10-15 or more years to accomplish it. And only a few can do it (I can see he is good) because of the misleading explanation. I did some experiments and I showed the basics to a complete beginner with no "sink you chi etc" BS and after a few week he doubled his power. No 10 years, no chi involved. I say with the correct explanation and drills it takes 6 months or a year to get waaay above "normal" power lever depending on the person's skills, talent. What he showed when pushing down the arms I could make a person do it in 10-15 minutes. To apply it under pressure is a different thing...

Good video. It’s really hard to get across how internal arts work. Most people can’t understand it, yet say they do… but they don’t. You can’t lay taijiquan onto what you know, you have to change to it and when you get it, it feels the exact opposite to what you thought it was. This is why I think hardly anyone understands it as you can’t until you internalise it. It’s also hard to teach as everyone tries to understand it from an external point of view. Take sinking, nearly everyone externalises it and physically sink into a lower stance, that isn’t what it is at all, you sink through the frame your in, don’t move the frame. I haven’t travelled like you, but I’ve only ever pushed hands with one person who really had sung, Peng, sinking… taiji. His name was Jan Diepersloot, out of 200 odd people at an event, he was the only one who had it and it felt like nothing I’d felt before…. Borrowing energy.

As said: This skill is not for everybody, it takes time to develop it. Isn´t it about phased use o forces, like Phase one - isometrics force to the level of opponentś force to "freezes" him and Phase two: adding an extra force to take control.? Just asking. Paul,68

Internal power starts in the fascia tissues, and cannot be trained without standing practice. You need enough muscle to stand upright and for long periods of time. No need to bend the knees, just standing normally is sufficient. Your legs especially will feel it. It needs to be strong enough to support the deliberate relaxed state of your body.
@fauxz3782

Would be great if you explain how to apply force without tensing the muscle. Does the power come from the lats instead of bicep and triceps?

@LooneyBinUK hmm I think he kind of answered my question. Imagine it as a force or energy being expelled through the point of contact. This is the higher level of it, I think I want to learn more about the midpoint which he spoke about (7 bows). Seems to be easier to attain and you can use it whilst your get to the full development

Most of the power, merely comes from linking your entire relaxed body mass. If one person is merely using their Arm... and I am using the weight of my entire body... How can they win? Can you lift me up (200 lbs) , with only the strength of your Single Arms muscular power?! Also, even if you can find a freak that might be capable of such a feat... they might only be able to do it... when the weight is stable (not moving). When in a combat situation, you are moving your body mass, multiplying the level of forces involved... as well as changing the vectors, making it extremely unlikely that they would be able to handle such energy. Part of it is Elastic forces. Where your body acts like a Bow / Spring. Making it difficult for the OP to be able to issue power against you.. because you are not Static. Sort of like trying to push a 200 lb blob of Jello.. vs.. a Solid File Cabinet. Part of the energy storage, comes from the bending of the limbs.. and part comes from the actual Joints / Tendons being stretched. Once charged up... you can "Release" all of that energy against them. Its even a bit more complicated than that... but, that should be enough to understand some of the main principles at work.
@johndough8115
@johndough8115 7 ай бұрын
I will add, that its often that LEVERAGE is also in play. In Tai Chi, for example... Ive seen the Master prevent a Jacked body builder from pushing him. One of the Secrets, was that he cupped his arms under the body builders elbows. This not only linked him to the dude.. but in essence, it changed the leverage factors. You see... if you were trying to lift a dude up.. but this man was standing Under your own Feet... it would make it impossible. In the case of putting your arms under their elbows / arms... you are getting UNDER their own body mass... and their entire body mass power. Basically, you are using their own mass, to further weight you down. There are many ways to connect with the OP, to easily use their own bodies against them. As once you are connected... you basically SHARE the mass that is Created.

Hello. You've been teaching for so many years, why don't you train a student to fight in some big tournaments? Kung Fu is ridiculed because of your magic spells. Martial art is primarily for fighting, not just for training among trusted followers. Please show your skills sometime with someone who is at a good level in other martial arts. You mentioned that you practice BJJ... do you use "chi energy" when fighting wrestlers? (if so, you must be undefeated there :) ) With all due rescpect.

I use to ask the same questions about why not get in a ring? When you get in to it you will find that there is a lot of force being generated. If the opponent is over committed he can get seriously hurt. MMA is a sport and with the internal it is a way of life. Internal guys like Sifu Sergio take this lifestyle attitude and they could seriously hurt someone.
