Hi! This is my first time on your channel. Your video came up on my home feed. I’m so glad! I subscribed. I love your set up! It looks so cozy. That cat house is so cool!! So creative. My husband and I live in our RV full time too with our 4 chihuahuas. We aren’t off grid yet but are working towards it. Thanks for sharing your life with us. ❤️ greetings from Texas

Something I've been doing for years is to use LED solar landscape lights as indoor lights. I put them on the porch to collect sunlight in the morning and take them in at night. I get the one's that you can remove the batteries so I can turn them off when I go to bed,then pop the batteries in the next morning. You have a really cool setup. Best of luck and thanks for sharing.

Hey Jenna, I'm a single older lady that has learned to be self-sufficient in my old little trailer, a bit bigger than a camper. When others are panicking without electric, I do just fine! Although I don't have solar panels yet. 🌲⛺🌛

Hi. New to your channel. Glad you made it through okay. A little trick for rainwater collection: If you run a piece of cord from your gutter and tie it inside your funnel, the water will run along the cord's surface, and won't be disrupted by the wind. Stay well.

I'm in Eastern North Carolina. We got Dorian about two and a half days before you and a little more harsh probably. Something that's Way too common yearly/seasonally here. I'm a US Army Veteran Of A Foreign War now seeing civilian cases of PTSD from hurricanes and severe weather, right at home, myself included, I can't lie. A tornado is really my biggest, most scariest, real life fear I think. Dorian spawned a few here all around. One was caught on a "Ring" doorbell cam in Ocean Isle, I think it was, showing it's fierce winds coming in just before picking the house up and destroying it. So glad you were unscathed.

Hi Jenna,... Glad everything went ok for you during the hurricane. I'm from the N.E. USA and we pretty much lucked out too. You've got a beautiful setup for your home and as a building contractor I'm impressed how you braced your roof over the camper!! BTW I'm new to your channel and thanks for sharing!...... Pete.

First time on you're channel and love you're place. Very nice set-up you have with all the trees you're pretty protected from the wind. Roof-over on the RV, rain catchment, solar......yep, I'd say you're way ahead of most people I know. I have kinda the same but with a house, that's too big, and on a lake in upstate NY. Have 4 generators and a huge wood stove has served me well all these many years. Nice video, I enjoyed it, and glad you avoided any damage.

Great video, nice to see a storm report from here in NS, we have solar on the roof for our hot water and with the generator running we enjoyed hot showers for the 4 days without power. keep up the good work....
@deetngator16244 жыл бұрын
You might consider getting trucker straps and tires and crossing the roof with the straps. So that the roof is extra safe. Use the tie downs that screw in the ground and leave them ready for any big wind.

I grew up in coastal North Carolina and I find it very odd to have a heater during a hurricane. Nova Scotia clearly gets the wind, rain and humidity but apparently not the warmth of the gulf stream. Talk about a no-win.

Have power inverter installed in your truck. At idle it will run everything in your trailer. If you are just concerned with the freezer and frig you need only run it a couple of hours every 10 to keep the food good. I have a couple of solar panels like you but I also have a good size generator. In my truck is a power inverter large enough to run my frig and freezer should my generator crap out. You are doing a good job there. Great life style.

I've never been to a hurricane, just a few micro bursts and 1 minimal (EF0) tornado. I do like "interesting" weather though. The only thing that I don't like is hail. My little house sits offset from both neighbors by about 90 degrees so the hail bounces off of their roofs and hits my vintage wavy glass windows. Stay safe out there!

You should drill a few holes on each Gable at the bottom on the fascia side and have a cable that you can tie to it quickly with an anchor Point somewhere because it wouldn't take much wind blow the roof off even with those braces at the back if you had all four corners anchor down it would be a lot more secure and after the storm you can remove the cables until the next one just a quick thought just trying to help...

We are in our RV 4 to six months a year volunteering at state parks but can come home on our days off. The two times we had to evacuate during hurricane threats and we stayed in the RV we were lucky the storms missed our areas completely. but it was hard to be out without any electric except running the generator some. Think I am to old to do this now. But still want to. lol
