At this point, I would not sell this on to someone else, but wanted to try this stuff out. This tecumseh is more or less on its last legs, I figured instead of scrapping it, I'd try this engine restore stuff on it.

Hello Hank, Back 20+ years ago the Engine Restorer people wrote on the can, "Use at least 400 miles for full treatment. If you use it about 12 running hours if it's going to work, it will by then. Most lawn mowers have a throttle governor that keeps revs low. If you could keep revs up to 4,000 rpm it might work in 8 hours.

I had a honda lawnmower I used in my lawn business. It ran well but it would smoke for a while. I put a small amount of engine restore in it. It stopped smoking and I gave it to a friend and a year later still going well he said.

Good review. However, I would have used it with fresh oil. I use it on my 2001 S-10 4.3L, with 165,000 miles. I don't have compression issues, but it seems to make a difference in power, smoothness, and gas mileage when using it.

It works, it also quiets down the knocking sound of a worn rod. I know it because l bought an used push mower over a year ago and it had very dirt oil ( it was actually the restore product, l didn't know anything about this product at that time) change the oil, start the mower and then a knocking sound.. I realized that "engine restorer" was what made the trick hiding that knocking sound from the worn connecting rod ( l guess that engine was run with very to no oil) and the guy whom l bought it from just did a quick fix to get some money. Anyway l didn't want to risk anything so l dumped that mower but it worked very well with that product in it, although exhaust gases smells weird.

yeah it took me a good 45 minutes of hand sanding. Ran fine except after 15 or so minutes of mowing, the rpms would creep up. Nothing outrageous but noticeable. It may have not been related. I had a theory at the time as to why but can't seem to recall now.

I am here for wizard guidance! Question for you, as to what product and how much you think I should use. I have a 1995 Subaru 1.8L 4-CYL boxer Impreza, 177,000 miles. I have 76 and 78 PSI dry compression in #2 and 4 of one head (driver side). This started a few days ago, we noticed while on a highway trip the power was weak and I can hear it missing as the RPMs drop from driving to idle. I don't have overheating, excessive oil consumption (drippy seals, I add a quart about every 900 miles), smoking, or fluids cross contamination. I'm waiting to have a leak down and another dry/wet compression test at a different shop. The first shop only did dry compression and wasn't too bright or helpful. If I end up having a head gasket leak between those two cylinders, what products would I possibly try to mend it? It must not be too bad of a leak, whatever it is, for the compression to build to 78psi dry. The other two good cylinders are 130ish psi. If it ends up being a valve leak, what products and strength could I try to get them clean? After cleaning, I will have valve clearances checked, as it's probably never been done. Thanks!
@hanksgarage_

well, don´t expect to see a HUGE bump in compression, specially in an engine with tons of miles in it, also it takes several hours to make effect, until the rings and cylinder get a uniform coating of the blue stuff there´s no way to see any difference... i used it in my old jeep 4.0 to help with the blow-by and i´m happy with the results, blow by was greatly reduced, compression and therefore power also went up a little and as a nice side effect, the engine runs a little cooler, i guess the restore gives the rings a soft bed to ride on, reducing friction more than just with oil anyway, i think the product delivers what it promises, just don´t expect it to resurrect a dead engine...

MegaFlaxman I hope I can get a response on this question. I have a 2008 Honda clone 6.5 horizontal shaft. It was in the original box till just recently when I aquired it. I filled with oil and gas and wouldn’t start. I checked the compression and it’s 28 psi. Checked the rockers and they’re moving like they should. I removed the rockers and physically moved the valves up and down, both seem to be seating properly. Filled cylinder with oil and tried again, still 28 psi. What’s my next move, remove the head and check the valves?

What they don't emphasize is that the product also does a remarkable job of cleaning out the sludge in an engine. Religious about the maintenance on a car that's been in the family since new, this week the 5,000 mile oil that was changed had a can of Engine Restore added to it. The appearance of the black, gooey oil that drained out was shocking. The filter element (paper only on Mercedes) was solid black. Usually the oil is a medium brown color. Replaced with a synthetic that included another can of Engine Restore, it will be interesting to see what the next oil change looks like. The car is a 245,000 mile Mercedes 4cyl.

engine restore works great, but in a pinch try 25 to 50% ATF for a short time and then change it. I've even used ATF down the spark plug and then slowly pull it over for a few times over a few days and then clean as much out as you can. try not to compression lock, the cylinder or bad things happen but that loosens up carbon

It seemed like you used way too much. I would follow the directions and mix it with the oil. That said, your lawnmower could be suffering from something else. Our lawnmower saw about a 20 psi bump, and a significant reduction in oil consumption. My 1993 Honda Civic saw a 30 psi bump and a huge reduction in oil consumption until I finally did an overhaul. Got me another year down the road. Those who are saying it is thicker are wrong as well. It is a 30 weight. The metal in the additive is what seals it better. When I changed my rings, I found all these gritty particles, the soft metals that hardened when cold but seal the cylinders when hot. Stuff works great

Yes. When adding RESTORE to small engines such as lawnmowers, add 4 oz (one-half can of the 9 oz size) when changing the oil. Be careful not to overfill the crankcase since you'll need to add less motor oil to compensate for adding RESTORE.”
