Ive used many, many different resins. EVERY mold is harder to de-mold after the first use. ALWAYS use release spray even on the new mold to prevent the initial damage to the mold. The more often the mold is used, the harder it is to release without the spray. I ruined several molds before figuring this out. This applies to the more expensive molds as well.

Use rubbing alcohol to clean the mold between casts and to remove the sticky layer after curing. Acetone CAN degrade a silicone mold. Large bubbles form when the resin shrinks while curing too quickly.

I’ve used the Lets Resin UV resin since September & I’m decently happy with it. When I did research back then for what to buy I only found 1 or 2 videos comparing different UV resins from Amazon, so I’m glad y’all did this!

Which one won? I skipped through a lot of the talking because I was more interested in how well Let's Resin did since I just bought some, but I never heard you guys actually make a decision on which one really was the best of the 4. Thanks for the experiment!

Some UV resins act differently with different silicone molds based on the the type of silicone its made with if I remember correctly. Tin and platinum silicone are different factors to look for and maybe something you can test on another stream. The chemical reactions with the uv resin make different issues or prevent them. I cant tell what kind of silicone mold that is but it looks a lot harder than most silicone molds Ive used for UV resin. Could be fun to test!

1:03:04 that's the trick right there - you get them to like it. I still can't get my cat to go on walks, because loud noises scare her, so she hates going outside, but she LOVES her harness. She just wears it around the house sometimes partly for training/desensitization, and partly because she just enjoys it sometimes - especially if it's a holiday with fireworks. She LOATHED it when I first got it. Started by just leaving it out on the floor or the bed (areas where she regularly sits) and I'd give her treats for sniffing it or just chilling next to it. Then just rested it on her, and gave her a treat. Baby steps and positive reinforcement. Now when I take it out she sits down and waits for me to put it on her. The first couple of times I fully put it on her, she pancaked. But you don't leave it on for long the first couple of times. Just let them pancake, give em some treats, and do it all over again the next day.

The supervisor coming to give them a break was the best part of the vid.

What’s happening is that the partly hardened leftovers that are still in the mold are bonding to the new resin-body you’re adding in and fusing the dirty mould to the resin body. Clean the freaking mould after your sticky jewel comes out!

I actually own the first gem mold they were using. I don't think it's really made of silicone. The same thing happened to mine-I had to almost rip the pieces out and after one or two uses they were just fused to it. (I also have the Limino resin. My only problem with it is that it's super thick which probably caused the bubble. It comes out of silicone molds just fine though.)

These two seem to have genuine sincere respect for each other and their ideas or what they have to say. I have kinda hostile friendgroups I thought I was just too sensitive but I think I’m just realizing I prefer kate and Evans friendship dynamic more.

Hello E&K, I've been watching you for a long time now. I'm not usually one for commenting, but I feel like the two of you have both inspired me and taught me so much, that it made this comment necessary. Recently I learned that if you don't store your Silicon molds properly it can both ruin the mold and cause damage and poor performance using your molds over time. It stands to reason that the beginning quality of your molds and how often they've been used can also affect this. I figured I would share this given you may or may not be aware. Having said all that, I wanted to also thank you for being so inspirational to me personally. Over all your channels (i watch them all, sometimes repeatedly), you inspired me to create again. I'm not sure i could ever do what you do, you're both amazing at it, i could never compete. I wouldn't dare. However, if I could ask one thing, not that I have a right to, buuuttt, would you tell me your favorite colors because I would like to send you a handmade item if you would allow it. Thank you so very much for all that you do and inspire! I truly appreciate it, especially given the state of our world at present. Please keep creating content!!!

Is anyone going to tell them that it's blue to combat the inevitable yellowing that UV resin's tend to do? That way in 6 months the colors are what you intended rather than far yellower than intended.

I use Limino, I never had a problem with cloudiness. You let the resin sit before putting it in the mold. Never go directly from the bottle to the molds. Also Alcohol spirits remove bubbles really well. Almost forgot use resin release as well. 😊😊

Do you think maybe the tacky layer is also in the mold and is the cause of the issue You could try wiping the mold down with a Qtip with rubbing alcohol or acetone

i found wiping out the mold clean with a baby wipe between each use, helps with removal when using the same mold back to back

what light do you guys have? Every time I have use UV Resin It doesnt cure hard and is aggressively tacky. i have to put it out in the sun for a half hr to totally harden. Which in Southern Ontario who knows when Ill see the sun next. I have 2 different nail lights, 2 different flash lights. clear molds, I have let it sit for a half hour in light and still not completely hard..... no idea whats going on...

Have you tried "SolarEZ" resin? They use it with surf boards and you can get it by the gallon.

I know this video came out a long time ago but from doing nails I know that uv resins have a heat spike in the first few seconds of curing. This heat spike in a mold can reach over 400 degrees F and that can melt most molds. What you could do to avoid that spike is to start at a low heat or away from lamp for about 3 seconds then remove for 5 to let it cool ( it heats up fast), then cure another 5 seconds in low heat and remove again for another few seconds. After that you can leave it on low heat for about 20 seconds then full heat cure after that. It's a bunch of steps but for bigger areas the resins heat up even more. Also I would always cure underneath the mold for 30-60 seconds to make sure that side is cure especially if there are pigments or glitters used.

The Limino and the Qiao Qiao/Miraclekoo are my fave UV Resins/Resins/Silicone

With a clear mold I wonder if you could put it over a reflective surface to help the bottom cure faster? A quick google suggests certain types of white paint reflect UV, maybe polished metal, and I remember using a teflon cooking sheet as a UV reflector/diffuser in a project in school.

I'm curious why they didn't pour all 4 tiny gem tests in the bottom row, let their bubbles escape for a little, then cure them (all together) in 30second increments, testing each in between? Would that have been flawed, or did they just not want to mix them up? Lol EDIT: I realise they wouldn't be able to sniff test them! It just took me watching Evan deeply inhale the stink 🤣

Can you make a mini cat house out of resin for the supervisor.

You have to use sandpaper to smooth down the rough side then polish it with sandpaper. You also have to take the tiny jump ring off the end of the chain put your pendent on then put the jump ring back on. also, you have to use a drill to make the holes then screw the eyehook in. I have gotten resin on me a few times. Micro beads are so cool in resin.

2:42 You can over cure. In 3D printing the print has to be cured in UV after it comes out of the printer. Some people leave it in the UV for too long and it turns a little brown and gets more brittle.

I'd like to see you include 3D printing resin in this. It should work the same way. Most of it is opaque but some are clear or mostly clear like Siraya Tech Blu.

The smell of UV resin is more intense while curing. You smelled the limino brand while not curing, but you smelled the others while curing.....

Putting a white background under the piece you are curing helps bounce the light to the underside.
