It was actually thanks to Rocksmith 2014 that I learned how to play one of my most favourite Three Days Grace songs, "Never Too Late" at a talent show in my senior year of high school which ended up getting me a scholarship at the Art Institute Of Vancouver so I'd just like to thank Ubisoft for making my dream come true

A lot of people are being very negative about this. Like it's going to destroy the way musical instruments are played. It isn't. Don't worry. It IS on the other hand going to be a way for beginners and the people who never learned more than a few chords to get into playing more, and have fun doing it. It will blister some fingertips and it will create some muscle memory, and those are the two most noticeable ways of telling you're progressing as a beginner. Granted, the videos (or ads) from Rocksmith seem like they're praising the game as the greatest thing to ever happen to music, which may be overdoing it, but the fact remains that anything that can make learning an instrument seem like less of a chore is a good thing. Oh, and the session mode is something I'm really hyped about.

People are just jealous they had to learn the hard and inefficient way. You see this sort of thing every time there is a change in the way things are done.

Dan Bridge I've been playing Rocksmith since original release. Before that, I played guitar off and on for about a decade. I've made more progress in my playing Rocksmith than I ever did learning on my own and with guitar lessons. This game is wonderful!

Dan Bridge do you know why many give this shit negative?? IT HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND string bends,vibrato palm muting and other such techniques, you learn the names and shape of chords, you learn how to tune and play a real guitar, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PENTATONIC SCALES?? OTHER FIVE SCALES? THE MAJOR N MINOR PENTATONICS?? THE ADVANCED CHORDS?? people are just concern about your guitar gifts.. this game will ruin it..
@McJaews
@McJaews 10 жыл бұрын
Pawex Caballiers Your use of caps lock makes you seem very angry. In response to your concerns about scales and chords, we've already talked about this. Rocksmith is not a professional guitar teacher, who teaches his students everything there is to learn about playing music. Rocksmith is a way for guitar beginners, or people who wish to play casually, to stay engaged through a learning tool that uses something called "gamification". It turns the tedium of learning scales into minigames, and gives you a point score so you get rewarded for every little improvement you make. It encourages people to start playing. It helps them stay motivated, and it does not stop them from continuing their learning process. Try being less angry.

McJaews sorry about the capslock, and im not angry.. no reason to be mad at all.. capslock words were the important messages i wrote.. >well i must admit rocksmith has some advantages.. one of that is muscle memory.. you will strum better, pluck better, and play guitar for a little longer.. >i mean what happen if one day you will decide to go deeper? you will start again to zero, and its hard to learn if your learning stages are gone.. >haha how about people will play rocksmith, while studying A Modern Method For Guitar By William G. Leavitt Guitar Secrets - Joe Satriani Alfred's Basic Guitar Method Book 1 ^_^

For me the session mode is the main reason I want the game to improve on my riffs and phrasing and main part improvising. I would say learning a song on the game is fun but it's not really gonna teach you if you're wanting to learn degrees theory etc but it's a great starting point for beginners and just good fun in general but hey that's just what I think others might think differently.

agreed. Rocksmith 1 was a very nice game with a rather unique GUI (it was hard to get used to I must say) and the notes weren't that accurate (tuner either). However...the point in rocksmith was to learn to play guitar. And it did it for me. I played Missisipi Queen (a song I didn't even THINK about playing in 1 year) in just 2-3 months after I picked up my guitar! AMAZING! If this game outruns that then it'll be mindblowing,

Just got this game. I've been playing for some time and I'm definitely not great but not a beginner either. Not sure if this would be the best way to learn guitar. The visual aspect and the actual physical aspect of playing the guitar combined would be a little much for someone who's never even played a chord. I'm having trouble trying to keep time with the visual aspect but overall I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun and I think it will make me a better guitar player considering I never play with a real band. I'd still say it's a pretty damn cool product

@johnmoss4624
@johnmoss4624 10 жыл бұрын
checking back in after nearly a year and I can say that yes, one downside is that I did become rather reliant on the game, but that's not always "wrong". In real life, you play with a band. Rocksmith basically provides a "backing track" along with the notes for sitereading. The problem with the notation is that it is basically different from standard sheet music, real sheet music there is no color coding, its numbers instead of bars on frets with numbers, and it goes left to right instead of the "note highway" that rocksmith does. I would still recommend it though, most people never break through the initial confidence wall. Just my 2 cents.

John Moss and you don't have to play every note if there's a bunch of the same note in a row. The game will say you did tho.

I think Rocksmith is good fun and probably a good way for newcomers to have fun playing. But at some point you have to play without looking at a computer screen. I sometimes find that i play better if i just remember the music piece and dont look at a screen. And eventually it will grow into muscle memory. But Marty is a real inspiration to watch.

Right this is only my opinion: I've just been learning guitar for about 6 months now and learnt a few songs before purchasing this game. This is a matter of opinion and how you learn, for me I prefer look at KZfaq lessons like Marty, as I've learnt quite a lot from the guy, don't get me wrong the lessons on the game are just as good!! When doing the strumming pattern as an example, if you missed only little strum, you've got to start it all again, which I find frustrating. This will work for some people or not, even though it's only been a few weeks since I purchased again, I might get better. But prefer teaching myself and go at my own rate. However, the setlist of songs is definitely not a let down, got one of my favourite songs "everlong" which is brilliant!! Plus it allows you to tune the guitar just like the recording. What I suggest is try the game and see yourself, for me I'm not that confident but it might work for you!! :D

I just quickly launched up Rocksmith to confirm this, when creating a user account in game, one of the first options you get is to pick which hand you use for picking the strings, that way the game will be inverted for a left handed guitarist. so i assume they wouldn't drop that feature for RS 2014

I know. It will take years. But with practice, devotion, and time, you can do anything. Sure, im only, what, 14, but Ive been playing for 6 years, I have a long road ahead of me. It will take a while, and you never truly master an instrument, but you can get pretty damn close, can't you? Scales are not infinite. Once you know how to play a scale on one fret, one string, you can learn to play it anywhere on the guitar.
@TxSkills
@TxSkills 10 жыл бұрын
Dylan Cerezo hey man i agree, this seems cool for learning songs, but playing songs does not make you a good guitar player, learn scales and put them to use, learn chords and moveable chord patterns and put it to use, thats what makes a good guitar player, but if songs are all people want to be able to do and not be able to pick out a lead to a progression then by all means buy this game and play the crap out of it.

Many people don't know that this game is actually a really bad thing if you want to learn how to play, because it has a masive compresor that can't be switched off and that is the secret of Rocksmith. You think you're good but it's actually a compresor. It's good that there are scales, and better tutorials but there's not everything, and i'm 100% sure that you will learn every thing faster from internet.

That be great if rocksmith did some kind of social club where you could view your stats and achievements etc. Maybe even have some tutorials available like scales and modes that you could review while not playing the game when your bored at work

If your acoustic has a pickup and output jack it will work. The USB cable that comes with the game needs to plug into your instrument to monitor your playing.

Starting playing guitar from Rocksmith, it doesn't tell you play with humbuckers or play with single coils and doesn't try to recognize the difference. I had a lot of trouble with it recognizing what I was playing right. I have to see it as more of an advanced tool where you can say: "I played it right, whatever it thinks does not matter if it sounded right." . Guitarists love it because it's a game where they can shine doing what they already know. Can it teach you how to play guitar? Maybe if you have other resources. Will it help you learn to be a better guitarist? Probably. It helps having hard lines that you cannot cross. I'm really looking forward to what they're working on. I just hope it's not too "dumbed down to include everyone". EVH didn't have Rocksmith, Jimi didn't have rocksmith, Chuck Berry didn't have rocksmith!, I look forward to the day that I think: "I wish he had it.". I think they've done an amazing job so far, and I want more.

It's waiting for a singer, drum and band edition :P Maybe they could make a deal with Ion, by generating a drum pack? Couldn't wait for this :P

Lag = latency. And that depends on your sound drivers. If you use a pc, asio4all might help. Ne would assume that the developers would strike a sensible balance for consoles.
