The judge overseeing the federal trial into Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election, Judge Tanya Chutkan, ended her first hearing with this warning to both parties: “The more a party makes inflammatory statements about this case… the greater the urgency will be that we proceed to trial quickly." Nevertheless, on Monday Trump posted that Judge Chutkan was, “very biased and unfair.” Jason Johnson in for Joy Reid and our panel discuss.

An innocent man has no need to defame the Judge or prosecutor. An innocent man would want to go to trial as soon as possible to clear their name. Why would they feel the need to obstruct and delay or resort to juvenile behavior? Maybe his behavior is a way of demonstrating insanity and will use insanity as a plea. Two things to consider as this develops. 1. Under Georgia law, bail can only be granted if the defendant can affirmatively prove that “the defendant poses no risk of intimidating witnesses, or otherwise obstructing the administration of justice.” Trump will have to prove to the judge that he poses NO risk of doing either of those things, otherwise the judge is forced to deny bail and remand the defendant. The judge has wide latitude, so he can decide the level of actual risk. 2. Under Georgia law, the Governor does not have the power to pardon criminals. There is a pardons commission, but the issuance of pardons is highly regulated and not left in the hands of politicians. 🤣🤣🤣 How long before trump tries to flee the country

Pay attention. The case under Judge Chuktan is a FEDERAL Washington, DC, case and the case in Georgia is a STATE case in Fulton County. Federal Judge Chuktan has no jurisdiction over the case in Fulton County, Georgia, and therefore cannot lock the chump up over threats he makes against co-defendants or witnesses in the Fulton County case UNLESS those threats INCLUDE defendants/witnesses in the federal case as per the order Judge Chuktan issued on Friday, August 11, 2023. Now, in Fulton County, Georgia, Judge Robert McBurney may, upon a legal filing of prosecuting attorney Fani Willis, issue a ruling similar to Judge Chuktan's order once the trial begins but neither judge has authority over the other judge's case due to JURISDICTION.

Quickly put TFG in pretrial detainment for his violation of court protective orders. At the same time, do the opposite. Judge sets the trial date for January 2100. Allow his lawyers to beg & plead and beg & plead and beg & plead and beg & plead for an earlier trial date. The judge can acquiesce to TFG's lawyers when we're all needing a different form of entertainment, you know, like watching him lose "BIGLY" at his trial.
