Would love to hear you guys talk about periodization for a youth athlete over the course of several years. Like what qualities would you work on at different points beginning at 14 or 15 esp. if you didn't need to necessarily worry about peaking for specific performances until later on. Thanks so much for all the great videos!

Could you guys do a video of yall breaking down your powerlifting program? I cant find any videos on it. Would your powerlifting program suit someone that cares more about looking good rather than Numbers?

@@etypiccolo they train powerlifters. And they do Olympic Weightlifting, where the three power lifts are accessories for their main discipline.

If you care more about looking good You're not a powerlifter, so why do you want to do that program?

Is there any point to periodisation if you're just training to get better and not to compete? You don't need to peak for a performance, you just want to continually adapt over time.

Once you reach a certain level your training is going to necessitate a certain level of complexity to continue to improve. Eventually some aspect of your fitness is going to hold you back and your going to need to shift from improving 1RM to working on endurance/strength asymmetry/technique etc.

Yeah, even something as simple as alternating between phases of training with heavier loads and training with lighter loads will be beneficial. If you apply a certain stimulus for long enough you start to get diminishing returns for adaptation. Opposite holds true as well, if you’re constantly changing what you’re doing week to week it will also be difficult to get any sort of meaningful adaptation.

I think as soon as you try to put ' just training to get better' into practise, periodisation will appear as the best way to do it. 'Continually adapt over time' is the problem in the sense that you can't just improve everything together in a straight line from week to week.

Bromley (empire barbell) has some good and fairly simple books on how to program. You could also just check out his videos, he goes over different popular programs and whats good/bad.
