This will be a 2 part video. this is part one where I go over the Design and splice location, cables sizes, and counts in full detail. In part 2 of the video, I will be going over the work inside the FOSC after breaking down the splice counts

Nice job print with splice tabs. Time for a new cheat sheet. Very good explanation of reading counts . It is always fun when the previous splicer used the wrong tubes and the records are wrong.

Ok so if I understand this right (still a bit confused), but the CO or main point of interconnect has 144F cables running out, with cable 1 being fibers 1-144, cable 2 being fibers 145-288, cable 3 is fibers 289-431, etc. So on the drawing it is showing you need to take the new cable that was pulled between the splice enclosures (shown as the dead 144F) and connect it to 577-631 from the CO / main point of interconnect, which is the 5th 144F cable, fibers 1 - 55, coming out of that central point into that specific splice enclosure?

For this specific network it starts with a 864 fiber distribution hub and breaks down as it goes throughout the area dropping counts off to customers and the cable sizes get smaller down the line till we get to this specific location I am explaining in the video which has 3 cables total. 1 feed cable which is a 144f with a total of 5 ribbons live. Then it has two distribution cables one heading down the street that is just a dead cable waiting on future developments. The other distribution cable has two ribbons live the rest of the cable is dead/not used yet. We are pushing our new count from the feed cable onto the existing distribution cable dead count and bringing it to life with counts 577-631 🙌 thanks for watching and subscribing I really appreciate it there is a video that is releasing in the morning where I go over the inside of the FOSC on this specific build to get a visual understanding👌 it drops in the morning 5:30am

@@fibersplicegod So I guess my confusion is how do you know which fiber of the incoming cable is being referenced as 577? Is there some indicator that 577 will be equal to the fiber 1 of the distribution cable?
@fibersplicegod
@fibersplicegod Ай бұрын
@Echoskope we know this because before this count push this was existing infrastructure already deployed a few years ago we just went into the records found this pathway of 144f that had dead count on the cables allowing for new count to be pushed onto them all the way back at the fiber distribution hub. So since count 577-631 was free at the 1-864 distribution hub that is feeding this FOSC. I was able to just take that count and use the dead fiber in those cables splice them together and assign the new count 577-631 that we spliced on at the fiber distribution hub and just ensure we splice everything the same the whole way to our new development area.

@@fibersplicegod Ok I understand now, this was all referenced back to the main distribution point drawings that showed 577-631 was that cable, which is where Fiber 1 of the cable is the same as 577. Thanks for the clarification!

I watched this twice and its still not making sense. I am guessing this "count" of 577-631 and 361-420 is some kind of designation for the drop or splice, but not the actual fiber? Then if you are adding 5 ribbons (60 fiber) how is the dead changing from 61-144 to 116-144 in the feed cable?
@fibersplicegod
@fibersplicegod Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it. So yes I ran up another 5 ribbons but within those five ribbons only 4 and a half of the ribbons is being used 577-631 that ends in the middle of the 10th ribbon out of the 144 which ends up being fiber 116 out of the 144
@btschmieds

@@fibersplicegod Where you getting 577-631 from if its a 144 fiber?
@fibersplicegod
@fibersplicegod Ай бұрын
@btschmieds they are just the counts assigned to that 144f cable so this network starts off as a cabinet with 864 fibers in it with counts 1-864. As the cable gets distributed throughout the neighbourhood counts get dropped off to light up different areas. So for this one there was some fiber used with assigned counts 361-420 that’s 60 fibers out of the 144 fiber cable and then I pushed more count up that cable from the main cabinet and used the available count which was 577-631 and pushed it onto the 144f cable that was heading towards the area I am connecting

"Dead" implies its life is over -- it's stopped working and it is uneconomical to repair it. I would suggest "dark" as a more appropriate description.

For my area Dead = Never energize / spliced up and made useable . dark = goes down a route to some where but is not in use
@nick21614
@nick21614 Ай бұрын
No it wouldn't since dark fiber is an intact fiber route that isn't lit and is usually leased to a 3rd party who lights it with their own equipment. Dead would be a correct term as it isn't spliced through.
