Danzo, with all the sharingans in his arm, plus Izanagi, would beat a lot of different people in this series not named Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke, and Obito. But, he got overzealous and Sasuke was a superior fighter in their battle. Sasuke's genjutsu, making Danzo believe he still had one eye left, was perfect. Don't feel too bad for Danzo though because he stole Shisui's eye, made Itachi kill his clan, and so forth, so fuck him.

When you mentioned casting genjutsu on oneself I was wondering what kind of applications that could have if it's not Izanagi. Then I realised that would be perfect for Metal Lee. Just cast a genjutsu on him to make him not notice people around him.

I've never heard of being able to use Izanagi for an unlimited amount of times within the time limit of the eye casting it. It's been that once the eye being used activates Izanagi, they have within the time limit to basically rewrite death and once it happens, that eye's done. Otherwise Danzo would have had many, many more opportunities to spam Izanagi with each use until the time limit was up (1 minute apiece). It was more useful to use it before the time limit was up otherwise the eye does get sacrificed for nothing. We see this when Danzo was about to strike Sasuke after using the Baku summon, but Sasuke regained control of susanoo and it hit Danzo into a pillar but didn't kill him. The eye that would have saved him from Izanagi closes after 60 seconds, which was noted by Karin when she observed Danzo as he was down. I don't know what a complete Izanagi would do other than increasing its time limit like what Tobi did during the fight with Konan, but I feel that even an incomplete one would have been enough to just survive that and respawn to a safer location away from the explosive tags. Is there even more of an advantage to having complete master over Izanagi? Sloppy writing.

Hey Swagkage, got a question for you: If Sasuke hadn't been hit by Itachi's Tsukuyomi when he and Kisame confronted Naruto on their way to retrieve Tsunade, either by Sasuke being able to escape his grasp, or Naruto using replacement to take it instead, do you think the Sound Four would've been able to convince him to come to Orochimaru?
