Explaining how to do the DIPLOMAT EXPLOIT in Medieval 2 Total War! Or trying to at least. I wanted to try to explain how the exploit works and different ways to approach it. Hopefully this helps! I'll see you guys in the next one!

AFAIK it's not about the CPUs not recognising that it's a really bad deal, but that the score they use to calculate how good the deal is goes down so much it goes past the limit and loops into infinitely positive. It's a pretty common glitch in older games, the same thing made Gandhi go nuclear in the og Civ

Oh shit, I didnt know that was the reason why Gandhi was so nuke happy in the old CIV games. Well thats good to know!

For example if the program can store a value for diplomacy from -100 to +100 (the size of the memory is 200 in this simplified example), if you go to -101 it will cycle back around to +100, it's called an overflow exploit where you are exploiting the size of memory that the computer can store a value in. Because the deal has such a negative value in memory it cycles around to the other side of the memory where the highest positive values are stored.

I also found a cheat if you offer 100 florins or coins and demand the regions and regular tribute it still work

the ways it works is going to a trade where the negative valour for the AI goes to low that actually reverse itself turning into a good value. you dont need any kind of specific trade, you can even make peace with them paying you every turn

I can't get this work on the steam version. Do you know if it was patched?

It should still work. Im using the steam version in the video. When you go to do it, double check the other factions wealth on the right hand side. Sometimes if it is at meager or very poor wealth they wont accept the deal. Try that out first and if it still doesnt accept let me know!

Interesting. This could be a number of things. Make sure that they are not at very pour wealth, sometimes if the AI is too pour they would not agree with the deal. Thats usually the problem I run into with this glitch.
