I'm tired of the debate if frilly dresses "infantilize" grown women and sexualize children. Most of the outfits are not sexual. Most children do not run around in elaborate puffy dresses that cost hundreds of dollars. The ideas we have of little girls in super frilly princess dresses are them exclusively playing dress up--when they are pretending to be princesses or grown up. Most children wear clothes that are easy to move around in because they are playing and having fun, and such fancy frilly dresses will get ruined pretty quickly. It's such a weird thing to criticize women over in the name of feminism because why do cute things have to be inherently childish? If men like comic books and old video games are they infantilizing themselves? There are many more valuable conversations in feminism over the sexualization of young girls and how children are pressured to grow up faster, but somehow it has to always loop back around to hyperfeminine fashion and that itself seems to be a form of sexism: that hyperfemininity and love of cute frilly things is something you are expected to grow out of because being too feminine is wrong. Women just wearing dresses because they like them and feel beautiful in them isn't an attempt to make themselves more like children, it's embracing a femininity we are told to grow out of. And like you said, it's a femininity men often hate because it isn't sexual and isn't meant to appeal to them.

I see it as the opposite of the general assumption: that we reserve colorful, delicate and detailed clothes for little girls is a sign of a sick society! That would be unthinkable in many cultures and even in most centuries of Western culture. But modernity demands of us that adults dress more and more gray, impersonal and boring, where does that lead us? Given that it was forbidden for commoners to wear certain clothes, let's use today's freedom and not let ourselves be forced back into the clothes of subordinates! You don't have to dress like you've stepped out of a historical movie, but our clothes should express our dreams, our dignity and our personality!

I know this is old but may I recommend Princess Liana ROse as a small but beautiful example of someone who yes, has the unrealistic lifestyle, but she talks about how being a princess comes from within, and I feel like its one of the better princess core channels because her "How to be a princess" video is all about being kind, treating yourself well and that to be a princess you must love yourself. Shes worth checking out if you're interested!

It's crazy to me that people associated puff sleeve dresses with young girls. That seems like misogynist bs to me. Men can wear star wars and cartoon t-shirts all day and no one questions them.
