Someone posted this on a Promaster (American version of the Boxer) group. Clever design. Have some questions though: 1. Does the bolt, upon tightening, pull the paint of the top of the stud? 2. Am I correct in that all the loads rest entirely on the stud? The base lifts off the van body? 3. Is the only thing that prevents lateral movement of the rack, the friction of the bolt pressing down & compressing the head of the stud? Could vibration or a sideways pull of an awning, or a little knock sideways cause the bolt to slide or fall off the stud head? From what I can tell, doesn’t looks like a very positive capture laterally due to the space of the unistrut hole around the stud base.

This is nice and a simple solution.. have you had any problems with the unistrut rusting?

Excellent solution, can you remember what length of bolts you used. Subscribed and enjoying your content, thanks.

Hi and thank you for your sub, I think I used 20mm and 30mm stainless from Screwfix

Very nice! I read that those posts can turn sideways with some effort but I think this is good anyway.

The Unistrut nuts turn and lock in place, but once tight mine have stayed there for nearly 2 years now without any problems. Thanks for watching :-)

If you used 41mm square unistrut for the lower section, would it do away with the need for the spacer pieces between the pieces of unistrut?
