This glass coffee cup spontaneously exploded at my parents house. No one was around, it was about 10% full of old room temperature coffee... We're assuming either a sniper or a ghost ':/

"My Mom has a camera set to where my retired Dad spends most of his time in case he has a heart attack... I'm not joking... this is the reason. One day shattered glass was all over the kitchen when my Dad came in. No one knew what happened, but when my Mom checked the tape... this was it. The glass was tempered and about 30 years old and I guess occasionally that can happen."

I worked at an art glass & foundry awards place where glass inventory frequently exploded due to temperature variations and flaws or inclusions in the glass. My glass "ocean fish" globe split down the middle along the colored kelp fronds. 🤷♀️

This happened to a glass mixing bowl I had just taken out of the cabinet, set it on the countertop and as I walked away it exploded, spraying my back with shards of glass. No permanent damage, but terrifying.

If you put non dishwasher safe glasses in the dishwasher they weaken the glass & later have a higher chance of exploding.

Same thing happened to my mum. The cup was made of glass, and had abit of tea in it, and it exploded basically. Luckily nothing happened to her.

This happen to me not this big and it wasn't glass it was ceramic coffee cup. It had nothing in it nothing around it. It wasn't a hot or cold day. So we have no clue. I just remember telling a joke. You know the one if you play with it you get hairy palms and my brother snuck a look at his palm. So me and our sister busted out laughing. That exact moment the coffee cup exploded. I guess the ghost didn't like my joke 😕 🤣🤣🤣

Must have been a ghost lol I just watched the first two episodes of The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell....and it isn't just excellent. It is truly iconic, like a cultural phenomena that hasn't happened yet. Everything that I prefer is either popular or will be (A.L.F. still hasn't made a groundshaking comeback yet...) It's a winner!

Resonance... its actually a matter of physics and chemistry. the solid crystalline structure of the material that makes of the glass must have experienced a frequency far above the hearing range of humans. If the cup encountered a frequency of sound/RF etc that matched the natural resonance of the molecules from which the glass is composed the bonds of said crystalline structure will be broken and shatter in this manner with an almost invisible explosion... the only question is.... what was the source of the sound................ THAT, oooooor you've been playing with Adobe after effects etc... :-P
